Right. Didn't think about that. I'm personally giving up my driving in a few years because of getting older and no one to say "Hey Mom you need to stop driving. No need to. Everything can be delivered to the door now. Yea I know it's crazy but I know a lot of people over 65 who are responsible drivers and I know a lot of people 65 and sometimes younger that aren't. For me I'd rather not jeopardize someone else's life when I turn 70. So no car no car insurance. I drive so little now. $25 a year on gas, yes I drive that little but $384 a year on insurance. I take the very basic. Ridiculous to have a car and pay all that when I barely drive :)

Because my cousin has become an idiot and likes to stick his nose in other people's business. But that kind of strayed, I suppose from the topic of the 5 year or 10 year law which I never heard of til mentioned on here. Not even mentioned in the legal papers that she had drawn up. She willed it to me. I'm still not understanding. Why would I need to make payments on a house or car that are paid off in full. And again the lawyer does not have the 5 year rule. I just talked to him and he never heard of such a thing. Yea what would be different maintaining after she goes then what I'm doing now? I'm used to doing stuff with broken limbs so old age won't slow me down. And broken limbs are from either my clumsiness or tripping over the cat. Not from Mom although I get threatened a lot with her cane
As you have stated, she likely will not need Medicaid, so the five and ten year rule does not really pertain to your situation. The only way it would is if she somehow could not afford to pay for her care and needed to go on Medicaid. As long as that does not happen, you have nothing to worry about.

You would not have to make payments on the house if she owns it outright, which she does. Do you currently personally pay for the general maintenance, taxes, house insurance, and utilities? If not, you would need a way to be able to afford those things. If you already can afford them or do pay for them currently, I just do not see the issue.

:lol:doesnt it though!:lol:i imagine cats would love it toosince graycie and other cats i have had just seem to love getting under/in the way of making the bed
My husband would like it to cool the bed most of the year. We have a heated mattress cover that I leave on during the day for te cats and so that it would be warm when we go to bed. We turn it off when we go to bed because it is already warm. The issue is that it is too warm for his liking, so we have to turn the fan on and point it at his side of the sheets for 10 minutes to cool it down. I am assuming based on the pictures that we could have one side warmer than the other.

OMG OMG OMG. I have to find someone to be with Mom September 26th. The Rolling Stones decided to make St Louis their first stop on the No Filter Tour. This may very well indeed be their last as they are pushing 80 years old (Charlie Watts just did turn 80 last month). While they still sound exactly the same as they did 50 years ago I don't see them doing this much longer. Each of them have health issues and Ronnie Wood just had more chemo for lung cancer.

So learned something new the other day regarding tall grasses. Apparently the “foxtail” seeds on top of these grasses can stick to dogs and cats and either work their way into their skin or travel if they are in a nose/ear/eye. It can be dangerous.

We discovered this after our new puppy Casey snorted some grass and sneezed for an hour. I’m pretty sure she got it all out, although she has sneezed a few times since. The emergency vet I called said it’s not an emergency but to take her in if she keeps sneezing constantly after 4 or 5 days.

But grass!? Who would have though it could be dangerous? We knew to not let her eat rocks, spiky weeds or chow down on too many bugs and plants. Didn’t think one sniff was going to cause so much drama.

Pets: they make us love them and then find creative ways to try and kill themselves

:mad:really wish i could find and hurt the people/kids. who stole every one of the disabled shopping carts at the market so i could take a 20 pound sledge hammer to their feet, knees, elbows and fingers. to crush every bone to lil bits i see alot of elderly using them to buy groceries to. thats just sad to watch a lil elderly woman struggle pushing a shopping cart around to buy her groceries glad this market cares about their customers and sends the cashiers helpers to push the cart

MoonstoneWolf MoonstoneWolf wow that has to be exciting for you ! i have never been to a rock concert
I saw them in the 90s. Their Bridges to Babylon tour and that was great. Sadly this may be their last tour as Charlie just turned 80 and rest not too far behind. Ronnie Wood is battling lung cancer and Mick has heart issues. Charlie also has cancer. Only one that will be here in 500 years is Keith Richards. lol

They still look good. I hope you get to see them. What happen to Bill Wyman? I know Brian Jones drown. I have not kept up with them. My sister went to a Stones concert and her friend was able to get on the stage and she ran up and touched Mick. That was before they hired Hells Angels to protect them. Keith Richards will live forever. LOL. The Beatles were my favorite. I never got to see them.
