I can only guess that people, like you, are also skeptical. If you have this attitude about those around you, those that share your concerns and love for cats will also act with suspect. If someone has them, they will feel about you the same way you feel about most others around you. I don't have an answer about how to resolve that. But, I do know that there may be some - like you - who are being protective of your cats, given what you say so many others think.

I feel like this because of my experiences with people over here.

Today early morning I went to search for my cats. Three blocks away from my house.. people told me that they have seen a cat died 1 week ago near the dust bin. I have shown them the photograph. They said the cat looked like Pinky. I just want to die.

I have a history with black cats. Dolly was my first black cat. I brought her home in October 2016 when she was just 4 months old. I was new to cats then. I know nothing about cats and I don't know how to raise them then. They had outdoor access. On May 21st 2017, Dolly gave birth to a female kitten. She didn't bring her kitten home. kept her kitten in my neighbors house in their backyard because I was angry with her ( I was a nasty fellow then and I cannot forgive myself for that ever). On May 23rd I gave food to dolly early morning. She was very happy that I'm no more angry and being normal with with her again. I thought I should bring the kitten home. I was absorbed in my work and forgot about it. In the afternoon dolly was meowing near my room.. Thought she was asking for food and went to feed her later that day. I thought she was sleeping in my neighbors lawn. After some time i become suspicious and worried. Then I came to know that my dolly died because her kitten was attacked by a dog. She saw her baby killed in front of her and she also died. It is so painful to think what she felt and experienced that day due to my negligence. I was the reason for what happened to her and her baby. Kill me. I don't know what came to me and why did I behave so horribly with such an innocent cat. I Love You Dolly. I don't deserve to be apologized for what I did to you. Please forgive me. You are always special.

On July 2018 I found another black kitten in my backyard. I thought my dolly came back to me again and I immediately brought her home without second thought. I named her Dusky. My dad said she looked exactly like my dolly. ( My dad loved dolly more than me and he cried so much when she died. He was very upset with me when I misbehaved with dolly. He used to feed her then).
Dusky is an absolute sweetheart. I kept her indoor never allowed outside. She used to sleep on me. We were very happy. On 26th Feb 2019, she gave birth to a female kitten. I don't know she was pregnant until the day before she gave birth. I was very happy because this is all being reversed. Exactly like dolly my dusky had a female kitten. I was more convinced dusky is dolly and She apologised me and came back to me again. This might sound silly to y'all. But this is what I thought. But this time my male cat killed the kitten even before she opened her eyes. ( He didn't do it intentionally though.) I didn't show the dead kitten to dusky. Because I was afraid that she will also die exactly like dolly for her baby. She searched for the kitten and meowed for so many days. Trust me that pain is horrible. It still kills me. I just holded my dusky in my arms and cried for what happened to her for days. I spayed her in april that year. On May 29th 2019 I don't know what happened to dusky she became suddenly sick. She slet next to me and didn't leave me. I think she knew something was wrong. I took her to the vet. They simply said that was a fever and nothing to worry. But I didn't believe them because her condition was deteriorating. And on 2nd June 2019 early morning my baby left me. I stayed beside her all night. I posted here that day about my dusky. I was completely shattered and heartbroken. Till now I don't know what happened to Dusky and why she became so sick. Dusky is the sweetest of all my cats. I Love You Dusky forever and ever. And I'm waiting to meet you again.

Then again I found this beautiful tuxedo kitten in my backyard in March 2020. She was just 2-3 months old when I saw her. Gave her some food. She immediately befriended me. Sat near my room and used to bite my fingers gently. When I left her outside after petting her. She used to ran towards me and didn't want me leave her. Within few days I brought her home and named her Pinky. I overprotected her, pampered her and gave her all my love. Because she looks like a black cat and I do not want the history to be repeated again. I decided to take her to the vet to spay her. Due to covid19 I lost my dad in August. I became mad and didn't bother about anything for few months. In Nov I took her to the vet again. He said she might be pregnant and can't operate her. On December 28th, 2020 she gave birth to a female kitten to my beautiful and my love Lucky ❤. I was glad that I didn't spay her. I kept both of them seperately for the first two months so that nobody can reach them except me. Pinky loves Lucky so so much. Pinky gets worried and scared if she didnt see Lucky for few minutes. I was very scared to lose them. I contacted 5 vets to even deworm them. Even then I didn't trust them. I learnt about the correct dosage about myself and then gave it to them. They are very precious to me. But life is not easy for me. I was infected with covid19 and was hospitalized on April 30th. On May 5th, around 6 pm. Lucky jumped out of the window grill out of innocence.. she got frightened and ran somewhere. Pinky meowed for her kitten. My mom opened the door and allowed Pinky outside to bring back Lucky. She ran to search for her daughter. They both have been missing since then. I don't even know whether they are alive or not. I don't know whether Pinky met Lucky or not. Now if something happens again to my babies. I don't forgive anyone even i.e. god and I won't live.

I am very sorry for the loss of your father. You have had an incredibly miserable time over the last year and it was kind of you to write the story of your previous cats. The cat who was identified may or may not be your cat. Many cats look similar and people only tend to see the basics of cat colors....calico, black and white, gray, etc. Especially people who are not concerned about animals probably don't take a good look.

Everything that has happened has been entirely out of your control and you have to move away from the idea that you caused it. You almost died of COVID. While that was going on, the rest of your world was out of your control and that very sadly included your cats. I am not in any way trying to rationalize this to you as it is all tragic, including what is going on in much of the world. You are a loving person and another cat would be lucky to have you for an owner someday even if Lucky and Pinky come back.

If so many feral cats can live without anybody taking care of them. Why can't my cats can live? They must be somewhere hiding. I still feel like that because I know my cats are good hunters. I have seen them catching insects and cockroaches better than my adult cats. I don't believe something happened to them. It's just people are not bothering to inform me even if they have seen them. I'm not going to give up.

Dheeksha Dheeksha , I hear you. I lost my cat, Inky, two week ago and all of sudden it's like my neighbors have amnesia when it comes to seeing a very large black cat running around my yard. I have one neighbor who constantly complains about seeing my cats, but then never sees them when you need her to.
Don't give up on your feline friends. I'm not going to give up on Inky.

Yes, don't give up...either of you. We have a couple of ongoing missing cat situations around here and it leads me to believe that a lot of people really don't take a good look at cats, maybe because they are all basically the same size, same faces, same ears, same type fur. People are posting cats sighted who are clearly not even close to the missing ones.

Years ago I lost a feral almost immediately after bringing her back home from the vet. I put signs and ads and people actually called to ask if I wanted their cat that they no longer wanted instead. Like one cat is just like another cat.

I never read where it was worded so perfectly. Thank you fionasmom fionasmom You are right there is such a variety to dogs and I also think their is a positive bias towards dogs in this world. In most people's minds a cat is a cat is a cat.

I think that is sadly true about cats vs. dogs. In CA, you are supposed to stop if you hit an animal under the personal property section of the DMV code. I remember people objecting to this and saying that they would if they hit a dog, but a cat is only a cat.

I can't stand that mentality. I have been behind cars that have gone out of their way to hit box turtles trying to cross the road. Now that's against the law in my state because those animals are protected, but try getting the police to do anything. The laws for animals in this country are a joke. Now my own personal solution to those cretins would be to create a fake box turtle out of a very sharp rock. Then I can watch them limp their car on down the road.

Cats have gotten the short end of the stick since the Dark Ages. In ancient Egypt they were revered and even to this day it is against the law to hurt or intentionally kill a cat in Egypt. You can actually face slammer time. Don't you wish it was that way everywhere.

Today two ladies near my home said they have seen a black and white cat and a kitten following her in the first week of May i.e. appx 10 days before I started enquiring for my cats. They looked confused searched here and there and jumped into another building. Large number of Crows cawed at them and chased them. This might have happened the next day they went missing. What does this mean. These crows harassed them so that they changed their location?
The one I marked yellow is my place in this pic. The brown one is where the ladies saw them. And they jumped into the blue marked building. In which direction where they could possibly go? Please help me.

This is encouraging. If you can't set out any traps near those two buildings, can you hang out in that area for a bit, calling their names and putting out food? Yes, crows can and usually do harass the heck out of other animals.

Yes. I will do it. Atleast now I know they have met. This is little bit relaxing. This has happened 1 1/2 month ago. Do you think they could travel far from there?

The past few days have been very painful to me. I didn't talk to anyone even to my mom. I was very upset she didn't search for them when they went missing. I was angry with her and constantly crying for my cats. I'm sorry I didn't respond to anyone.

Your feeling of anger are normal, you have been put through so this year with the loss of your father and your own health scare that it just makes losing your kitties seem so damn unfair. Its just one more added layer of stress for you. Inky is my third cat in two months and I am one very angry person so I know your feelings well.

I feel as though both of your kitties are close by, its just a matter of what direction. The last sighting seemed promising.

No, I have not found him yet. :( If someone trapped him, (which is par for this neighborhood) then I don't know if I will ever see him because then it become a daunting matter of where did they take him. I fill my down hours with calls to my vet, animal control and going to shelters. I am still holding out hope.
Thank you for asking about him. :)

I am so sorry. One of my highly sensitive cats, Navi, has been displaced outside now for about a week. We just went through this a few months ago and she was outside for 26 days before I was able to finally see her and catch her. My husband accidentally let her out that time and he did it again this time. I'm dumbfounded and have so many strong and painful emotions that I'm trying to manage. Anger at him, sadness that she's gone, frustration at the situation and not knowing, guilt that I didn't protect her. Etc. So I understand and hope you can find some peace no matter what happens. :grouphug:. Hugs.

I understood what you said now. I should concentrate on people who are kind to me.. instead I got hurt by people who were rude & nasty to me and disheartened. Yeah you are right they are people like me here.. not many but sure they are. I hope my Pinky and Lucky might have found someone who could feed them. I hope I'll find them soon.
