Hi all! Hope everyone, along with their furry friends, are safe during these times.

Recently, I noticed that if I tug lightly on a patch of my cat's fur, it will get pulled out with ease. He doesn't seem to be bothered by it, so I'm sure it doesn't harm him. He's perfectly healthy, and this has never happened before and I'm not sure what the cause of this is.

Is this normal? And what do I do to prevent it.

Is it the entire patch you grab, or just a few clumps that come out? Could just be seasonal shedding.

Are you noticing any other sign in your cat? Is he acting totally himself or is he different in something? Is he more lethargic? Have you noticed changes in his body conditions? Weight?
How old is he?
Like Maurey Maurey said, it could seasonal shedding. Is it very hot where you live? Has it happened last year too?

Nothing out of the ordinary with his behavior, body, or weight. He's turning 3 soon :)
Yes, I am assuming that it's seasonal shedding. Where I live, its around 24C at the moment.
Is there anything I can do to help with his shedding?? I already groom him daily.

Is he shorthair? What kind of brushes are you using?
Yes, I do believe he's a domestic shorthair.
A picture of the brush I have is attached. I bought it off amazon.

If you brush him, is there an inordinate amount of hair loss?
I would say that there is definitely more hair than before. But, I wouldn't count it as inordinate.

You might find something like the Kong Zoom Groom helpful to get out larger amounts of fur.
I have that one, actually!
Was not for me or Mochi. He didn't like it for some reason.
Any other recommendations?

I have long haired cats, so I’ve limited experience grooming shorthairs. Do you have a finetoothed comb? Perhaps he’d enjoy a silicone brush with smaller/softer nubs, like the ones on those brushing gloves.

Alright, I'll check those out. Thank you!
