I have a cloth mask that has a pocket on the inside where I have an N95.

I've been wearing masks just because it seems like the thing to do, but in July I'll be going on a bachlorette party trip with friends. I'll bring my mask and my vaccination card but honestly will have to trust the vaccine a lot as well.
Yes, if you want to wear a cloth mask, its good to have a pocket that can put additional material to act as a filter. Otherwise, wear two masks. One good grade surgical mask on the inside and a decorative cloth mask on the outside.

Our Government issue to all our citizens cloth masks that are anti virus and is washable and can last up to 30 washes when it is washed once a week and then dispose. Some people are wearing double masks and many are on disposable masks too.

Don't leave home without your mask.

I took a picture of my vaccine card and put it in a private album on my phone. I think it was LTS3 LTS3 that suggested that? So I don't have to carry my card around but can prove my status if need be.

I'm in a weird spot because I trust I won't get very sick, but am still worried about passing it on to the baby, despite her likely getting some antibodies from me. I will feel a lot better when she can be vaccinated herself, but I know that will be a while.
You do know that anyone or any business can't legally ask about your status, right? Violates HIPAA.

It is true that vaccination is protected health information but it can be required. A workplace can require that employees are vaccinated, employees have an option they can quit and get another job. Not a realistic option but legally it is an option. They can be required for in person learning, most states have an accredited online option and there have long been accredited online colleges. A store can require it to come in, there is an option don't go in that store. Supermarket's have the order online and pickup where they bring your groceries out to your car. The way brick and mortar stores are struggling I don't see too many turning away business.

What is bad about it coming down to this is the small number of people who can't be vaccinated for legitimate medical reasons and people on immunosuppressant medications and didn't generate an immune response with the vaccine. There have always been a small percentage of the population that fell in one of those categories. In the past before the antivaxxer movement took hold they didn't affect the overall protection by vaccines for a community, they were actually protected because the vast majority of people in the community were vaccinated.

No one has asked, but like denice denice said, proving vaccine status in general has precedent. If you need a visa to a country that required a yellow fever vaccine or something, they can ask for proof you got it to get the visa. Granted, if I were traveling to a country that required the covid vaccine and needed a visa, I'd probably bring the actual card for that.

Ok, I didn't read each post so I missed that is what she was talking about. I don't travel outside the US (and barely inside the US :) ) so it's irrelevant to me.

Yeah, they definitely can ask you about your status. You don't have to answer them, but if you don't they also have the right to refuse service/employment/etc.

Exactly, it's a terminology quibble, really. They can't FORCE you to disclose that information, like you wouldn't be arrested for not disclosing. But they can make it a condition of employment, access, etc. Which a lot of people would consider force. But legally it's not.

Here's a plain language explanation of who/what HIPAA applies to: Your Rights Under HIPAA

And honestly, I don't mind disclosing! I know some people would, but I'm okay with it. I sent the picture via mychart to my PCP, so they'd have my info on file there.

I do medical billing and we are covered by HIPAA. I have to take an online course about HIPAA every year and they take it very seriously. We are given plenty of time to take it. If someone doesn't take it by the deadline they cut off access to all systems, billing, eligibility and claim searches, clearinghouse everything. It's kind of like 'do we have your attention now, take the course. There have been some large fines doled out for violating HIPAA.

I just bough the pink card. My paper proof of vaccination is so wrinkled ..it looks like I've had it for
months.

I was thinking about the Pfizer Part I and how I had the best sleep in years for a week or so afterwards. I was in
a deep Delta sleep which I don't reach very often. After Part II I felt sleepy but not like Part I. Oh, well it was nice while
it lasted.😴💤🛌

There are exceptions for vaccine info.
117 medical workers sue Houston Methodist over job requirement to receive COVID-19 vaccine - ABC13 Houston
They may be able to delay due to "experimental" status, yet that will be gone soon.

This did not take long for a ruling that Vax can be required..
====
A federal court in Texas on Saturday dismissed a lawsuit by 117 hospital employees who challenged their employer's vaccination requirement.

In the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas' written decision, Judge Lynn N. Hughes said lead plaintiff Jennifer Bridges, a nurse, and 116 other Houston Methodist Hospital employees who challenged the requirement, had no case.

I saw video of the demonstration outside of the hospital. There was one with the sign that I was waiting to see, the vaccination is the sign of the Satan. I had a feeling that the 'end of times" types would believe that.

It's hard to believe that a nurse is the lead plaintiff though. In my lifetime nursing has really changed. It is much more technical then it used to be because more and more of what doctors used to do is now done by nurses. Their training has a lot more science and math in it then it used to have. Unfortunately having medical people refusing to be vaccinated is going to push people who are on the fence and are concerned about long term side effects away from being vaccinated.

Is that the nurse that attempted to get a key and hair clip to cling to her neck, to prove the vaccine had made her magnetic. :rolleyes2:

We've already had "mandatory" vaccination in our hospitals (for staff) for as long as I can remember. (Against the flu shot)
This is not new here. But the way it works here is you "have" to get the vaccine, but if you choose to refuse it, you then accept that if there's an outbreak, you are not allowed to work, and you will not be compensated if you get sent home.
I would imagine it will work the same way with this.
They have also expanded the mandatory vaccination requirements into our long term care and home care.

OMG, I saw that.......I don't even know what to think...It's just dumb.... :rolleyes3:

I've seen and heard so much at this point thru the course of this pandemic that I can't even get mad anymore. You just have to laugh or go insane.

My sister is a physical therapist and I believe pre-covid for flu shots the requirement was actually get the shot or wear a mask. So there's even precedent for that.

I have a feeling that this will be one of the "tweaks" they add to the mandatory vaccination requirements as things move forward.
With how it works now, you just can't work if there is an outbreak, but I don't think (I could be wrong) there is anything in place for "prevention", ei: wear a mask. They may have already been required to mask up, but perhaps it wasn't enforced, I honestly don't know...It will be interesting to see what happens next flu season.

It's funny how so many people are up in arms about "mandatory vaccination" when it's been a policy for many work environments, schools and even for travel for the longest time.

My boss is not making vaccination a requirement, she's actually not interested in getting it at all for herself. But she's a bit of an "anti-masker". She does follow the rules, and we have very high standards where I work, we follow every public health requirement set in place, she just doesn't "believe" in (some of) them.......down right hates them really.
