Omg, when I saw the title I thought it meant like yelling at you, which would have been terrible, but yikes! Do they know what happened? Like a gas leak or something?
There is a bunch of campers, boats, and general crap behind that building (which is about 50-60 years old without any major renovations). Homeless man broke into a camper. There must have been a leaky propane tank either in the camper or nearby. Guy lit a candle and KABOOM!!

I'm glad they were able to get the animals out safely!
Me too. No idea how though. The kennels are in the back which is where the fire started. The firehouse is close by but I would imagine that building burned quick. There was a dog and a cat in there and I am sure they were scared to death with everything that happened. The rest of the animals needing supervised care are transported at night to a 24 hour clinic so if the vet didn't do that, more could have been in danger. The sad part is that although they know the names of the animals, they have no idea who the owners are or how to get ahold of them to let them know that their animals are safe and relocated. Needless to say, all records/patient files were destroyed.

I had been getting fliers in the mail recently from them saying that Boone and Gracie were due for their check up and shots. I want to wait until August when all their vaccines are due so I never made an appointment. I had planned on going to the low cost clinic anyway but for the time being, I will have to find a new vet until they can rebuild or relocate to a new building and set up shop.

What a miracle they were able to save the animals. Their owners must be frantic, though I guess they would know from the news that they were safe, just not how to go about claiming them.

I can't imagine waking up to seeing those pictures of the blaze and knowing my babies were in that building.

I saw this picture on a news story, yikes, there isn't much left! Was the vet on the end or one in the middle?

The news stories say nobody was hurt. Did he manage to get out? Or did they say that before they knew what happened? If he managed to get out, that was really lucky!

The vet office is on the end. Next to it was a bike shop. Both are obviously destroyed. Rest of building has smoke and water damage. Yes the homeless guy got out and was found later and was ok. He won't be charged since it was accidental.

I'm so glad the animals and the man got out safely. I'm glad they are not charging the man as he obviously has enough problems. I bet that will be on our local news.
It happened Sunday night into Monday morning. I doubt some small town vet office burning down would make it onto the news where you live.

I disagree about not pressing charges though. Yes, it was an accident but he shouldn't have been there in the first place and shouldn't have broken into someone's camper. We don't have a huge homeless problem where I live. There is actually a place that lets homeless people live in homes so they can get their lives together, get a job, and use their earnings to better themselves so they can move into a home of their own.

I guess I look at it from the perspective as "What if Boone and Gracie were in that place? What if Boone and Gracie couldn't have been rescued and died such a horrible death?"

Wow. Maybe the vet staff will remember the owners by sight. For a whole we were at the vet so often they gave my kids beanie babies. :rolleyes2: They definitely knew us.
I would imagine someone saw the names of the pets and contacted the owners. Not many pets named Twixx Gunn and Prince Lusby, I would imagine.

Did it say if they were microchipped?
No, it was a Facebook post that was linked to the article I read from the vet's office with the names and asking the owners to get in touch with them so they can let the owners know where their pets were. I don't have Facebook but their account is public with 100s of comments and I don't want to read all of them so I don't know anything else.
