Big Mackie, BJ and Gypsy -- a trio of very fine felines!
Yeah, I am amazed every time I look at ANY cat, how beautiful they are, how agile, graceful, soft, clean, and intelligent. I just can't wrap my mind around how anyone could NOT love cats. They are the closest to perfection of any living being! and they possess all of the qualities that humanity says are most desirable.
Jcatbird Jcatbird You being so close to the water table would not be a good candidate for a tunnel -- but then, there IS the Chunnel to consider, yes? An amazing feat of engineering. There was an excellent series built around the Chunnel on PBS several years ago. Anyway, a small "chunnel" from the greenhouse to the cat room at Chez Catbird? I can see it in my mind's eye, but IDK if it would be the answer for a Thrasher cat. I'm praying she just finds her way back HOME without any other adjustments, quickly and well.

Hee hee. Did you post this on purpose because she's Australian, or was it just by coincidence?

First she must be willing to brave open ground. One good dash
Hmmm...Do you think this would work for me? 😉

I am afraid it is going to happen at her pace and not mine. I’ve set my heels in and am prepared to give her whatever it takes.
Not sure which of us you are talking about here. Maybe both? ❤

I could snuggle up to J
Awww, I'd like to see you cuddling a baby. Do you get to see human babies much? I haven't in a while, I miss it.:mommy:

I don’t think those people actually hate you. They hate themselves.
Ha! My musician friend said the exact same thing to me. I wasn't sure what he meant.

My advice has always been to do what your heart tells you is right!
Hmmm....That's good advice. I'll have to try using my heart more in decisions. 🤔

Scoot over. I’ll sit there beside you. We’ll get comfortable and see if we can find you some help.
That made me tear up a little bit. 😭

Ahahahaha haha! Did I scare you?!
Yes, you scared me BJ!...Why did Romeo make that face, was he hissing at you? 😲

We have a new visitor at our feeding station. The question is whether it belongs to new people in the neighborhood, or was it dumped by people who moved? He- it looks like a male, but I could be wrong- is extremely friendly, and looks like he is a young cat.

What a cute little kitty! I love his markings. 🥰

Off topic, but that reminded me- today Pants took a break from eating and nudged my hand for pets:yess: He’s getting more comfortable with me. He’s NEVER purposely sought out pets, though. Until now. Woohoo!

He- it looks like a male,
I figure him to be 5 or 6 months old.
He/she's a cutie.

Looks like a female to me. If the cat is 5 or 6 months old, the testicles should be showing but I don't see any. Even if the cat is younger than what you mentioned, the testicles should be visible too.

My boy was neutered at 7 months old and his testicles were showing and I remember when he was around 3 - 4 months or maybe slightly earlier, I asked his vet when to neuter him and he vet says at 7 months old. I'm using this example as a reference.

So, likely your cat is a female and I may be wrong too.

Are there any shelters or like minded people in your area you could maybe form a support group with? (And of course you always have us) and help educate the public on the benefits of the TNR program. Todd posts on Instagram and asks for donations for vet bills, supplies & food via PayPal, Venmo (?) an Amazon wishlist and monthly donations thru Patreon to help him with his rescue, TNR and feeding.
I have contacted many people in the last few years. The best thing that happened is a tnr group came out and tnred most of the cats and I tnred my backyard colony. Some kittens were taking off the streets. MY sister drove me a 100 miles out of state to drop some of the kittens at a no kill shelter where the kittens were adopted out a short time later. I was on FB group at the time, but some not so nice people hijacked the group and turned on everyone not in there clique. Such utter stupidity that is absolutely counter productive. SMH. I have been off FB since, I got very turned off by it.

I'll keep looking, but most of these people are very busy and barely hanging on themselves. Covid 19 was a real setback for tnr and rescues and the kitten population is booming once again. 🙁

Hope you are having a good day
I love what Todd does for the kitties. He is amazing!!!🙂

Oh ya, my eyes have been looking at the wrong thing  It was 6:30 am when I replied to this thread and I guess my eyes were not fully opened yet. I mistook the anus for the penile opening. Then for one moment, I thought to meself, boy, this cat anus is really high up under the tail

After that you've pointed it out, I looked at it again and yes, it's a boy!

can’t tell you how many people have said to me what you posted here. Some fed cats under cover of dark and some even felt they should be ashamed to carry bags of dry food where others could see them. I was harassed myself. My advice has always been to do what your heart tells you is right! Never let anyone tell you that saving a kitty is wrong. If you are a kitty guardian, you are a kitty hero. And you are! I know how exhausting it can be and I know that rock and hard pace. Scoot over. I’ll sit there beside you.

The neighbors who most recently said something about the cats are not bad people. Some in the family love cats and thought the cats were very cute. However, the other family member is upset with the amount of cats out here and the poop. I don't hold it against them for being unhappy with that. I was thinking of giving them cat deterrent pellets to put in the front and back garden. I tried to give another neighbor in the past one of those ultrasonic pest deterrents, but they said it would drive there dogs crazy and declined. I don't think, I would do that again, since my views have changed about the product. I also thought about putting enclosed litter boxes on the side of the house I live in (but my relative would kill me if I did that and the driveway there is my other neighbor 's). He wouldn't appreciate me doing that.

The neighbor wants the cats taking off the streets. If you remember when I first came on this site that was the very thing I was trying to do (at the request of the other feeder on the blocks husband). I was attacked by his wife who doesn't want any cat taken off the block and instead keeps dumping them ON ME! 😬 She is a bully and completely out touch with reality. I have told her many times that we need to try to find homes for the friendly ones, the neighbors are not happy with so many cats on the block. She paid no attention to what I was telling her. I hate to say it but she has a hoarder mentality. She may be feeding more cats than before because I see some new faces here and there. I was trying to tell that tnr group all this and how it was going to be bad for the cats in the end, but they didn't want to hear it and said and I will quote, "Stop taking things out on the Cats!" 😳 HUH????!!!! They said just shoo the cats back to the other feeder, which I done many times, but they keep coming back to me because the other feeder is pushing them ON me. I am worried this feeder will continue to dump on me. The TNR group made a huge mistake siding with her. It was very unfair of them. If they would have investigated the matter, talked to the neighbors they would have seem that there was definitely a steady stream of cats coming my way from her yard. She deliberately dumped them on me. I told her many times I can't take on any more cats, I have very limited means and it is too much for me, but she doesn't care!!! Today, I spend $50 dollars on cat food that will only last me for 4 days max. I have to constantly scrounge up the money and it is very stressful.

I am sorry for writing this long post. I am at my wit's end. If this lady pushes anymore cats my way--it will be the straw that broke the camel's back. On top of that, I may have to move in the near future, so it's best to start getting cats off the streets or transferred into another colony or something. I just can't continue to do this. I am running on vapors. Sorry for the rant, but the grief I get from all ends over the cats is just too much. Taking care of outdoor cats truly is a labor if love. You are an Angel for all you done to help Feral cats. You are an inspiration!❤❤❤

Well, Raven has made a liar out of me...as cats so often do! I had said, not long ago, that Raven would not get near me. So, of COURSE, last night, when I fed the backdoor cats at midnight, he (she?) ran right between my hands, asking for pats...and got them! He was chirping a bit at me, and purring like a Rolls motor! I say "he." I found a rather thin cat under all that long black fur, so not pregnant. If this repeats, I'll try to edge my fingers around his backend and search for "bits." That's how I found out that my little "girl," Splish, is actually my little boy. Too much floof back there to see anything in the dark! LOL, I have this mental picture of Splish telling his bestest buds, "Yeah, she's a real nice lady, but be careful! She'll wanna FEEL YOUR BUTT!"

dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 Talk about sweet!!! Gypsy must be dreaming happy cat dreams. Butterfly kisses and extra purrs?

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Fine felines for sure. Aren’t they all?:);)
A Chunnel would be great. However, she is not in the greenhouse now. She is on the move. I think. I caught another glimpse of what I thought was Thrasher. This is tough. I believe I found the reason why she is moving quickly and regularly. I saw a big dog today. Inside my fence. It confronted me barking. I spoke firmly to it and slowly approached. I got past it and opened the gate. After that I yelled to a neighbor that I suspected was the owner. The dog finally left and I followed it. It went to our newest and loudest neighbor. I had a neighborly discussion with them. I will be watching very, very closely. I have a camera fixed in that direction now. No wonder all the cats around here are so jumpy! Tunnels for everyone! I need that dome over this place! There is more to that story but I am hoping that this will be the last time that dog comes over here.

M maggiedemi The Crikey was not coincidence. Lol
A dash on open ground might work! Lol
Human babies? Not much these days but I love babies! Such sweet little ones! Human versions of kittens. Less fur though.

Don’t most comments cover you both?

You teared up? Well you scoot over too and we’ll pass each other some Kleenex!

Romeo scared you? Well, no worries. BJ made that face over a burp! Although his burps are pretty fierce!

N NY cat man Awww! Precious. Look at the paw reaching out! That’s irresistible. Purrs young one! Young man cat! Lol

BellaGooch BellaGooch Pants! That’s wonderful! Pants seeking pets! Huge progress. I know your heart went pittypat! Kittypat!!

tabbytom tabbytom Oh oh! You are keeping my hours and using my eyes. You poor dear. I often mistake young kittens for one gender or the other. The fur throws me off. I hate to look too close! Lol

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose Hang in there! I know a little of dealing with a hoarder. They tend to know they are in over their abilities but cannot let go. I am so sorry they are trying to turn it on you. It’s a mental illness and not easy for you to battle. All you can do is to advocate for the cats as you have been doing. Have you appealed to any pet food companies? Some will help and I can give you some info on that if needed. People often mirror themselves when they criticize others. Getting cats out sounds like the best thing for the kitties. I’ll be nack

@Mamanyt1953:flail: Checking backsides is never easy! Raven is a name I love!

Please forgive me tonight everyone! I can barely keep my eyes open. Been staring at cameras all night and just need some shut eye.

I was looking at the anus and mistook it for a penile opening as my eyes were not wide open yet. I was looking hard at the base of the tail and tried to see the anus. Then I roughly gauge the distance between the both and can't find the anus  and since the actual anus is round and I can't see the testicles and wonder why this female has a round opening instead of a slit opening till tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 said look below and there's two little jingles there and I too a final close look and voila, yes, its a boy! :frustrated: :paperbag::flail:

Jcatbird Jcatbird Thank you. Yes, it definitely did. It’s so rewarding to earn a cat’s trust. I know you know that. He’s getting more comfortable. Baby steps, right?

Prayers that Thrasher makes another appearance- hopefully this time for pets, too! And I hope that dog stays away. Dogs can be sweet, but please, you and the clowder, stay safe.
Sleep good 😊 💤

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose hang in there. You are certainly in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you can get some sleep, too. 🤗

This post is for all of you who have ferals that you are feeding and keeping watch over, and/or adopted or rehomed. :petcat:

Jcatbird Jcatbird said it best, just over 3 years ago, in her very first post in this thread, when she wrote "If you are a cat guardian you're a kitty hero!" No way I can say it any better, so I'll simply say "thank you". :redheartpump:
