I think it's dead :frown: I just don't have a very good green thumb.
I'm sorry for you loss. :hugs: Haworthia's can be very sensitive, IMO. Maybe your specialty is with a different type of plant or succulent. A friend of mine cannot keep succulents alive, but has many, many other plants thriving. For me, keeping other plants alive are challenging, but succulents seem to be my sweet spot.

How are your other plants doing?

Lithops updates. Not sure there is progress from my oldest one, but the other two are showing progress! Find it funny how graceful my older ones looks, but the other two look like disgusting, wrinkly things, haha. Such differences between individual species. I cannot wait to repot my new ones once they are done splitting.

Transitioning my succulents outside to tolerate full sun. It was raining and set some out where the ran would fall on them that needed water anyway. Loved how the droplets look on them.

Lithops looking more disgusting as the split goes on, haha. Makes me smile whenever going in to check on them in the mornings. Outer layer looking papery thin. How much more time may be left?

I stopped by a flower shop today, mostly for the gifts they also sell. Some of their succulents and foliage plants:

Not shown is the table with Pilea Aquamarines and string of pearls.

It's probably too early to find unique houseplants anywhere.

Lots of progress for some of my lithops. One may be done soon! One looks very dry and wondering how it is going. Kind feel like it needs water... But know they are not supposed to be watered until done.

Also some nice pinks showing up on my jellybeans.

Some succulents have some vivid pinks and reds. Maybe from cold stress?? Since I transitioned then outside to full sun, I moved them into the deck for protection from animals and rain overnight, but not all the way into the house. Some nights dropped to the 40's for an hour or two, and wondering if the cooler weather triggered cold stress colors.

Updates on the lithops, too. Slowly but surely??

Anybody else have any fun, new growth on their plants as we head into a new growing season? Or new plants?

I only have my 2 Christmas/Thanksgiving cactus plants, and 1 African Violet, and nothing new with them. Other than none have any recent bite marks on their leaves. :winkcat:

I do wish the African Violet would bloom. It did once, then never again. :(

Your plants are all looking great. You definitely have a green thumb.

Is this typical of African Violets? I've never kept them before. I'm excited to see if any of my succulents bloom this year. Only one did last year, although it already had a bloom starting when I received the cutting.

In the right conditions, African Violets bloom all the time. They like lots of light - mine get the afternoon sun and regular watering, but not too much.

I am hoping the same thing for my orchids. The plants are healthy looking but I don't know if they will bloom again. They are in an east facing window which is supposed to be best. I have them sitting on pebbles that I keep water in for humidity. A 10 degree drop in temperature at night is supposed to spur blooming. It has only been about 6 or 7 months since they last bloomed so I haven't tried that yet.

Per DreamerRose DreamerRose 's pic, apparently not. But very typical of mine. Here's a pic of the only time it bloomed, back in June 2015.

So beautiful, DreamerRose DreamerRose .

Mine is near a north facing window, so doesn't get much sun. Though it did bloom that one time, so who knows what's up with it.

Orchids are so beautiful, so hope you get to see blooms again.

I have two orchids, and they bloom only once or twice a year. But when they do, the blooms last for about two months. They have to grow two new leaves before they will bloom.

Both orchids do have new leaves. One of them is very recent, they are still very small. Right now I don't have either heat or air conditioning running, maybe when I start using the air conditioning.

I'm not sure whether I've posted this planter before, but she has a new hairdo, so I'll go again..
Aglaonema with some old man's beard and some tiny succulents on the side.
The planter and bunny are made by people living with disabilities at MonteLupo...

When the leaves reach full size, the plant will send out a flower stalk. Even then, it will be at least a few weeks before the buds form and it blooms. I guess that's why they only bloom twice a year at the most.

I was going to ask if that means they might flower this year, although dreamerrose gave more details. Have yours grown leaves in the past years when it has not flowered? Is the new leaves a hopeful sign for you?

Head planters are my favorite! Love when people plant plants that resemble a neat hairdo in head planters. Very unique pots, too!

I also see a hens and chicks to the left... mine died unfortunately and miss keeping them. That was one of the ones that survived months in a dark box in my cold rental. It seemed okay, but then spazzed and wasn't happy no matter how much water or how little, no matter indoor or outdoor in sun... it started dropping leaves but did not look like it was rotting. Too bad. before that it was very easy to keep alive!

have you ever had a death bloom before?

I have no idea, these are the first orchids I have had. I got them last fall and they were in bloom when I got them. The flowers didn't last two months but I don't know how long they had been in bloom when I got them. I have read so many different things about orchids beginning with the spike. Some places said to only cut the spike back below where the flowers were, others said cutting it two or three nodules from the base and others said to cut it back to the base. I cut it back to the base. I have read different things about watering and fertilizer. I got a special orchid food. I also started using distilled water because orchids are supposed to be very sensitive to buildup of salts in the bark or moss medium that they are in. We do have hard water so I get distilled water, the store brand is only 88 cents a gallon.
