Okay, if her stools are firm you don't need the pumpkin because that is fiber and it will only bulk the stools up more. What does your vet suggest?
If she likes eggs, you can feed them to her. They have extra calories, and extra protein, good type of protein too. Many people feed egg yolks for extra calories. You can feed the yolks either raw of cooked, but if raw, then don't give her any of the whites. If cooked, you can give her the entire egg. BUT, too many egg yolks can cause diarrhea so start slow. You might just scramble up an egg and give her some of it and see how she does. Don't use salt, but ok to use a little butter or oil.

As far as stool color, what color is it? Not all stool is dark brown. It really depends on what they are eating. Beef would probably result in darker stools. Chicken in lighter stools. But certain colors can denote specific issues.
Thank you all for the replies!
So for an update, she had diarrhea again for two days and since yesterday he stool is getting firmer. Today she had a nice brown poop! Yay but it was half of what she usually defecates. And for eating, she has finished a pouch of Tiki Cats Mousse! For the first time no food waste so it's an improvement. And she eats until her belly feels Full. I've asked a FIP community on Facebook and some say she has FIP some think it's not...
Still waiting on her bloodwork from last Friday. But according to blood results from 4/8, no sign of FIP. But using her stool sample on 4/12, she was tested positive for FCoV.

An entire pouch of Tiki Cat Mousse is fabulous! I have two adult males and neither one of them has ever eaten an entire pouch. That stuff is pretty thick.

Good news on her stools too. Maybe things are looking up :crossfingers:

Hi All! ----I've been giving her 0.1ml of doxy starting 4/16/21-----which is working... she eats A LOT lol.. which is great. But I went to see the vet just in case and she said it was okay to give her doxy.
So her stool was looking great.... until yesterday night. The only change was Flagyl. The vet prescribed it since she does have inflammation in her intestines in the meantime blood results come out. She's having 0.2ml, twice a day. Started yesterday at 8 pm, after her dinner. But her stool was looser and I assumed it's because I mixed in a new can. This morning, she pooped 2 times over the night and it was a puddle just not the typical diarrhea color. Today, at 8 am gave her another dose after breakfast. And she just went to the bathroom but it was like.. melted chocolate. lol... There was some normal stool mixed in with a puddle. I'm thinking it may be Flagyl because when she took Flagyl for 7 days before (3/27-4/2) when she had giardia, it never stopped her diarrhea. Which is why I went to another vet.
I read diarrhea is a side effect of Flagyl. I'm wondering if I can stop the dosage midst since it is antibiotics. Vet's are closed atm so I'm asking for some opinions if anyone knows! Thank you

Our Vet has us stop antibiotics if it causes bad diarrhea. Not really sure why she is on it anyway, since she was diagnosed with a VIRUS, not any bacterial infection, nor any "bug". Since you just started it, I don't really see any harm in stopping it, at least until you can discuss with your Vet tomorrow. All you will have lost is one day if they want you to start it back up again, but if they do, I would seriously ask them why, since overuse of antibiotics can cause issues in the future, like them not working when needed :frown:

This was a different vet and since she felt enlarged intestines...? She knows there’s an infection just not which one. So she gave me it. I guess one dose is “safe” to miss. I’ll ask the vet and see if her stool gets better without it tonight!

Unfortunately antibiotics can really destroy the system so probiotics and prebiotics are important. A lot of the people I know use s.boulardii. I would say she got the fcov for sure from the home she was in, so not from stress. A bad breeder for sure. You are giving her the kitten tiki cat mousse correct? Poor girl :( Has she had an ultrasound done?

Hi all!
So fortunately she was tested Negative for FIP! yayy
So now the question is... then WHAT is causing her all this problem...

I've given her doxy since last Friday and she got better the 3rd day. She ate more and now she's eating ALL the time. Pretty active and stool is on and off but mostly firm nice stools. The only problem she has is her stomach. Her stomach definitely has some problems because even after she poos, her stomach is firm. I&vet think she's gassy/bloated but don't know why. She farts a lot too. It's like those without a noise--smelly!!!:barfgreen: I also stopped giving her the Flagyl after 1st day to see if her stool changes. And her stool did get better. It's not completely dry (moist, leaves residue on the scoop) but definitely no more 'melted chocolates'.
And I can feel her intestines through her stomach--the vet also said she noticed some enlarged intestines.

We still have things to figure out but I'm glad we got FIP out of the way!

What does the vet think is causing the "enlarge intestines"? As far as gas goes, many kittens have problems as do puppies. It could be the food she is eating.

Did you ever try giving her S. Boulardi as a couple of people in this thread recommended? It's for intestinal flora, which may be causing that gas.

So glad she is finally eating!
