What happens when you leave the kitties to go shopping?

They get your telephone messages.

We know why you shut us out of our room yesterday. You let a bird have our cat room! We could have shared!

They turn on the outside light to attract bugs for Froggie. Froggie moves into the light fixture and...

She will be going to a wildlife person and also get a vet check. Just another day at Chez catbird. I will definitely be tied up with the bird rescuer tonight but I wanted to let everyone see this precious little life. Maybe she chirped a message from Thrasher? Birds of a feather?;)
What a pretty bird! It's amazing she was not scared.
Growing up when we'd visit my grandparents in Oklahoma there were bobwhite around. That's what we always called them, we'd listen for their "bobwhite" song.
dxsfwi....oops Mooshoo sat on my computer keyboard. She wanted to know the latest on Thrasher. Moo sends her love and vibes for "Thrasher come home." :purr::dancingblackcat:

Thrasher, we know you're out there now! Give up this nonsense and COME HOME!

Meanwhile, I have a new feral. I think he may be one of Splish's littermate, although he is a bit bigger. He's white, with one big golden-brown patch on his back and a smaller one on his head. I've named him Ozzy, because of the sea of white with two islands. He reminds me of a map of Australia and New Zealand! VERY skittish, though. Stays back, won't come near...yet.

BellaGooch BellaGooch I believe she's taking a little time out right now. I saw that posted a couple of days ago, by Jcatbird Jcatbird I think?
Jcatbird Jcatbird So glad little Fancy is in safe haven! Quail are precious little beings.
So the Chez Catbird clowder took your phone messages? They would run ragged around here -- SO MANY robocalls, charity calls, "courtesy calls" and others wanting things! I am afraid to pick up the landline and let them go to message. Almost all are hangups. They NEED to stop these! *Quail foraging in the Mojave*

pearl99 pearl99 The Quail is doing well. No one can really say why she didn’t try to escape but I am pretty sure she was aware of the Hawks circling above us. These hawks are one of the most feared birds to little ones like the quail. I was the lessor threat to her and the cage seemed a safe hiding place to her. She knew the cover gave her safety. She seemed kind of tired when I brought her in so she must have been avoiding them awhile before I found her. She took a nice nap in the nest I made fit her. Pine boughs above her, pine straw belong and I nice little box to keep her safe. She was warm and I watched her snooze and eat to her hearts content while she was here. They feed pretty constantly so she was feeling much better by the time she left. A full tummy always feels good. Lol
The caterpillar wasn’t as nice to have around. They are not stingers but if they feel threatened they spit toxic juice that can contain cyanide. That’s why the cats just stood back and observed. It is pretty but the spit is toxic. Tent caterpillars are everywhere this year. Sometimes they cover the ground. They are dropping from the trees right now and I find one on me nearly every time I go out lately. It seems to be a very good bug season! I also found a deer tick and a tissock moth on me. Yeeeee!
There is a little cat like face on the caterpillar though!

Tell Mooshoo thank you for asking. No news. I must say though, that’s quite a talent to be able to types with your butt Mooshoo!

strider rose strider rose I think that’s so sweet that they keep you company when hubby is away. Cats are the best company!

BellaGooch BellaGooch The caterpillar did seem to enjoy visiting. I could not let him stay for a “sleep over” but when it is a moth we will visit again. Lol

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Ozzy sounds absolutely beautiful. A map cat! Lol I am sure that some socializing is ahead. ;)
Thrasher is the best of all kitties a hiding. She always was an expert at that. However, I am verrry patient. I believe she will come. Believe.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Fancy has the most beautiful feather patterns. I think Fancy suits her as a name. At least, in human speak. Lol One of the cutest things to see is a family of quail. I love watching the march of the family. Dad leading the way, babies in line behind and mom following up to keep the babies in line. March of the Bob whites! Lol
Just so you know, the best way to end irritating phone calls is to let the cats answer. Imagine this..... “Hello?Meoooow! Hello? Breooow? Who is this? Merrrow. Is anyone there? ME ow! “ Click, dial time follows. Lololo:insertevillaugh: Cat smiles follow.

Oh yes, there are not one but many many many. Many people take animals as a lower life form and have no respect and love for them. Many regard them as just an animal and nothing more. There was someone I know who said that if he sees a cat outside, he'll kick it. I told him, if I see you kicking a cat, I'll kick you back on behalf of the cat and then I'll report you to the authorities.

tabbytom tabbytom Agreed. Many breeds of Hoomans. Some are Inhoomans. I have not kicked anyone over a creature but I have chased them to attempt it! Lol!!! I have also made it clear around here that no one shall hurt any creature while I draw breath. It was taken very seriously too! I have brought in authorities! I defend them all to death! I have earned a nickname around here. Ghost. Hurt any creature and I shall appear out of the silence of the night. BOO!

Ahhhh I have Cooper's Hawks around here and they go after songbirds.
What a sweet little Bobwhite. Glad she found her way to your yard!
It's a snowy night here so I'm looking forward to cat night snuggles like you had with Bano, BJ, and Mitsy!

Some time back, I saw two boys squirting water at a stray cat and I walked over to them and told them to stop it. I told them as I whipped out my phone and I said, will you like it if I sprayed water on you? I said to them, I'm going to take a photo of your act and they scrammed.

This reminds me of my brother. Several years ago one of our dogs was sick and I was panicking to rush to the vet. And my brother who was visiting at that time said, “Calm down. He is just a dog.” That infuriated me and I shot back with teary eyes, “He aint just a dog. He is family.”

from then on I saw a change in my brother. He became aware and more respectful of our feelings and treatment to our pets.
