It's a busy Monday here. That's not unusual; but DH is home working on seeding our yard. We spent the weekend fixing areas that settled after everything was dug up this winter. Then it rained and washed a bunch away where our gutters empty. 🤪 I did a lot of weeding and we ended up needing a trip to the garden center yesterday. It's a little early for most of the flowers and things I normally get. But I was VERY tempted to get my tomato plants because they had one kind that I love but was hard to find last year.

Do you have a green thumb?

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say I have a green thumb; but I've learned a lot over the last 10 years. My Grandparents had green thumbs and I learned a lot from them and from taking a horticulture class for 2 years in high school. Some things don't go well. I've had plants die in spite of care and lots of google resarch and asking people. I just keep trying. DH told me he's glad I enjoy it because he doesn't think we get out of it what we put into it. I asked how he knows...he says because he sees the bills. Thats probably because I always find just one more pretty flower...

I did have to replace my tomato, bean and pea supports this year too. Thats what i picked up yesterday. That shouldn't count because those do usually last several years and some have lasted close to 10. ;)

I've got a list of stuff I want to plant this year...

I do not have a green thumb. Even when I do try, it tends to not work out, at least with plants and flowers.
While I do like my vegetable gardens, and growing my food, when it comes to flower beds just for the purpose of esthetics...I couldn't really be bothered. I have A LOT of flowerbeds at my house that were there from the previous owner, that I tend to...minimally and am planning to downsize them to a more reasonable level. They used to be beautiful...but with me at the helm.....not so much.

I don't know about a green thumb-maybe a green thumbnail? Although I grew up on a farm, and tended the family vegetable garden, I never tried flowers until a relatively few years ago. It has been mostly trial and error, but the error rate seems to be dropping, so maybe there is still hope.

No I do not, which makes me trying to do a giant garden this year kind of a big risk. My great, great grandma was the gardener. She was completely devoted to it. When she was 98 or so, she broke her leg and her daughter (who lived across the street from her), found her crawling to her garden.

Hopefully things work in my favor this year, especially since I'm actually really trying to make things work.

I think I am learning to accept the failures and experiments as part of the process. It’s frustrating sometimes but so rewarding at others! I would like to make pickles again this year but if I do it will be with cukes from a farm stand. Other things I just keep trying.

Yes and no. The plants in the WeShed are doing beautifully (except for the bloody Christmas cactus that refuses to bloom. Oh, it's got tons of new growth, but I haven't been able to get it to bloom since I brought it home from my office). My African violets are all blooming idiots, the umbrella tree just burst out with three new leaves and the prayer plants is doing well. That cactus? Bleah

I plant flowers outside and they may (or may not) bloom for me. They will often die, even though I'm doing everything I can to help them.

I want to have a green thumb but me and plants don't work together very well. I like keeping everything organized and in their respective places so I never have to loose anything. That also means nothing on the window sill because if I put something there, then it would look out of place and pretty stressful. Since I live in an apartment, I don't have a back yard. So I can't put flowers there. I saw those things on the internet where it's a pot that has a light and an automatic watering feature and thought that it would fit somewhere in the living room. So I decided to grow tomatoes in it. They where doing good for about a month until something in my atmosphere changed and they died. So I just gave up and bought plastic ones. :ohwell:

I wouldn't say I have a green thumb but maybe a slightly pale green thumb. I've done fairly well with flowers and had a nice vegetable garden growing in our former house but the house we live in now has too much clay in the soil. I've cut back a lot on annuals since they're so expensive but I do enjoy the different varieties especially geraniums. My downfall is the climbing rose and clematis vines I've tried to grow on the lattice surrounding our patio.

It seems like everyone has something that just won't grow right for them.

DH's grandmother was an expert on Orchids. Literally. They intimidate me and I don't keep indoor plants; so fortunately I don't have to try. But they are neat to look at!

I kill plants just by looking at them.
Me too. I'm the plant grim reaper. I don't like to walk through the garden centers at stores because I swear I can hear them all sobbing in fear.

"No! It's HER again! Someone save us!"
"She's walking towards Charlie! Run Charlie! Run!"
"Help me! I can't! I'm rooted to this spot!"
"You can all calm down. I'm just cutting through."
"That's what you said last time and then you killed those helpless tomato plants"

I've given up on gardening and the plants are grateful.

Do you have a green thumb?
It depends. I'm quite good with succulents and cacti, but I don't have much luck with vegetables.

I rescued a Yucca plant out of the trash when I was about 12 and it flourished, but I left it at my parent's house when I moved to Japan and the poor thing died. Maybe I'm just better with indoor plants than outdoor.

I feel like some people are born to just kill plants. :-/
I love seeing all the pretty flowers but they'll wilt if I try watering them.
But don't worry because I have a theory. Some humans are like cats in the way where we produce scent glands in our
hands that warn plants of any kind that we exist and to run! This gives the plants a panic attack because they simply cannot move.
So they decide that winter is happening now and die.
So it's not our fault that plants absolutely hate us, It's our ancestors.
