The moth orchids are hardy plants, I don't know about blooming again but the plants are hardy. I have them over some stones with water to up the humidity, give them some plant food every so often and water once a week or so, the plants and roots are strong and healthy looking.

W WillowMarie I have kept lithops before. I had them as part of my business inventory many years ago. They can be picky little plants so you are definitely doing a good job! I adore them. Watching them multiply is so cool. Once you have a pot full they really do look like living stones. They have neat patterns of striping and vary in color. Nature is awesome!
Glad you enjoyed the flowers. Orchids have purrsonality. Lol
Oh, wow, that is so neat! You probably had lots of lithops throughout that time then, haha. For sure, I've read that, too, that they are picky. My oldest one that I've had since last May has not split yet and still has me anxious on if it will, but it looks healthy nonetheless. I'm very excited to have at least one splitting, which is the pot of lithops my friend gifted me.

Would you have any special tips or tricks you learned while keeping your inventory for your business? Yes, they are so beautifully unique. I love how my older one matches in with the gravel it is planted with and blends in!

W WillowMarie The thing I learned , besides them being picky was, if in doubt, don’t water! Lol They just kind of dissolve over night if they have too much. I found that with many types of plants, we feel like they might be thirsty and it is easy to overwater. Yours look great though. Maybe you have a lithops thumb. :)

Jcatbird Jcatbird Aw, thanks! And thanks for the tip! It is so interesting how much water they absorb the couple of days after watering. There have been times when I check the next day and the wrinkles are disappearing and am happy it must be in good health since it absorbed water, and then I check the next day or so and it almost looks bloated! I'm like, ahhhh, I didn't give you that much water, haha. It was just a trickle, how'd you absorb that much?? :flail: But must be happy if it is still surviving!

Graceful-Lily Graceful-Lily The Oxalis is stunning! Love the white stems against the deep purple maroon leaves.

The aquarium top is neat, too! Wondering if those brown things in the left compartments are plants/seeds?

pfff I only have fake ones because i kill all the real ones
What fake ones do you have??? I used to be a serial plant killer in my younger days... Although, I tried succulents a couple years ago and was surprised they did not die! They often thrive on neglect, which is perfect for me, haha. What plants have you tried in the past?

Update on the lithops! Brains is more open and a little one can just be seen beyond the split!!! The other one is slowly splitting further.

:help: what's wrong with my zebra succulent?

20210311_100356[1].jpg

All the leaves are starting to pull away from the base. Root rot? I haven't watered in a few weeks. Something else??

Could be .... I'd unpot and check the roots just in case. Losing leaves makes me worry... If they are rotting, pull off all the bad, soft roots and clean off the soil. Leave the plant unpotted to allow the roots to dry for a few days.

My haworthia is really sensitive and I repotted mine with probably 3/4 gravel or more and 1/4 or less soil or succulent mix. This was after my root rot scare when it lost most of the roots, but the extra gritty soil seems to make it very happy and it has not happened again. That would be my recommendation, if root rotting did happen. Haworthias are just a bit more sensitive about getting their feet wet, IME.

PMousse PMousse Wow, over a year for new growth?? That's so long! Is that typical with this plant?

LTS3 LTS3 Any updates on your Haworthia? How is it doing?

W WillowMarie I'm not sure, but I know it's a high maintenance plant. It grew quite a number of leaves in the first year, but none in the second year, which I reckon was because I didn't put any fertilizers and didn't put it close enough to the window to get more sun.

The only plants that are really thriving for me are the orchids. The air plants are still there and a few succulents are hanging on but the orchids look really good. We shall see if I can get them to bloom again. Their season is supposed to be late summer and fall for blooming. The trigger is supposed to be a drop of at least 10 degrees at night. Once a spike starts the rest is supposed to be a piece of cake, it just has to grow and bloom.
