When I lived in my own apartment, I washed my sheets every 2 weeks and the blankets & comforters once a month. My brother washes his sheets every week. I didn't ask him about his blankets.

I would recommend my 15 minute timer trick for this. You can find 15 minutes out of your day, yes? Say for these fifteen minutes, I’ll work on clutter clearing. I’ll set a timer. When it’s up, I can go back to whatever I was doing before. But most times I don’t like leaving something unfinished. So I’ll set another timer and try to finish within that new interval. I game myself into finding time to do those things I’d rather not.
Yes, I don;t like to leave a job I start unfinished. Most of the big jobs are done, what I hate is having to declutter the same things over and over and over.

I'm still working on a cleaning schedule.....and wow.....I'm getting tired just looking at it! LOL! Now I just have to finish up plugging in the "when's" and "how often's" for the tasks, and see if what I HOPE to accomplish is reasonable....I'm sure I'll figure that out in a few weeks as I follow it. Nothing will be set in stone of course, but it should help me develop more of an automated routine. And when I see the results, it will encourage me to stay on track.....I find that once something is more of an automatic routine, it's not so much of a "chore" to complete...you just do it.

Same here. I do better when I stick to a schedule. I'm gonna try to get back on track starting tomorrow, so I have 30 days until March 1st. Sort of like a 30 day challenge.

For many years I was a horrible housekeeper. I could go weeks, and months, doing little more than laundry, trash and dishes. I never had people over because the cleaning involved was just too much. Once I decided to get my housekeeping act together, I decided I would spend two hours a week cleaning and blocked Sundays from 10:00 - 12:00 to do it. The first few weeks, I barely made a dent in what needed to be done but once I stuck to the schedule for a month or two, I could actually do everything that was needed in that time period. I stuck that schedule for the the rest of my working career, the next twenty years.

It's been a while but I'm still working a little bit on my "checklists". It's been really busy around here so I haven't had much extra time...I'm finally caught up on my other stuff so I'll be working more on this project of mine.

We may or may not be moving soon, so I have been trying to do some deep cleaning/organizing vs regular household chores. We've been doing somehting big every weekend for a few months. This weekend was cleaning all the blinds. It's taken several hours but they look great!

I get overwhelmed and frustrated with how bad the house gets, even though I do clean during the week. It's like it's just never enough. B think I'm neurotic, but I just can't stand to walk on a gritty floor or ignore the laundry that piles up. I get home from work, clean something, cook dinner (lol or order a pizza...), and I'm shot. And yet here I am, still doing hours of cleaning on the weekends. Ugh. I get an extra paycheck in April....I think I'm going to splurge on a robot vacuum. AT least that will help keep the fur under control.

I've thought about that, but we have a multi level (side split) home. And it's not open concept either. I think I would find it a pain in the butt to have to carry it around the house....it sort of takes away from the "automation" of it.

OK, so here are my tasks, that I broke down to how often they should happen....Am I missing any cleaning chores...even ones that may only get done a couple times a year? Do you think that any of them should be moved to be done more or less often?....I'll gladly crate a yearly category and adjust "dusting" if you think that would be better! ;)

Yes, excellent idea. I think my problem is I can get it done and then hubby comes along and re-clutters. I've been trying to get him to clean his crap out of the family room. He stacks up books and papers and it drives me crazy. I've offered to get him something to put it in, and put it in there for him, but he has a fit.I guess I"m really not motivated right now. I think about doing something, then decide I'd rather knit.

If you've not tried it before, bullet journalling is a wonderful way to get organised. I have ADHD, anxiety, and some other issues I don't want to get into, and it's been a wonderful help. It's a method thought up by Ryder Carroll, and both his website and his book are a wonderful place to start :>

I also subscribe to the 'no zero days' mentality. Even if I'm having a horrible day, even if it's something tiny, I'll do something productive. It can be something as simple as a bit of self-care, like taking a shower, or brushing my teeth.

Are you talking about clothes hangers? I've never washed hangers before...never really thought about it...so I'm gonna say no
Oh god yes! They get really dusty. I just washed mine yesterday.

I've been trying to get into doing household chores on a more regular basis, so you posting your list today is perfect timing. :)
