ETA from above post: My brother and SIL are stopping in with my flour. I asked her to order a 50-pound bag of KA all-purpose flour as I just poured the last 5-pound bag from the freezer from that last bag she ordered for me. That doesn't include the bags of flour that I bought at the grocery store when it was all on sale during the holidays.

Tired this morning. I couldn't sleep much at all last night; last time I looked at the clock, it was 4:30. And Amber started screaming around 5:30 and I got up at 6, so not much sleep at all. I may grab a nap later on.
Got all my flour in the freezer yesterday.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am back here with my coffee. I'll need to scoop.
  • We may hit Target this morning as soon as Rick gets up. He wants after-shower skin lotion and there are a few things on my list. If we do go, I will hit our grocery store as well. Naan breads (although I'm thinking I could just make them) and the gallon of vegetable oil (to fry donuts) that Rick forgot to get on Sunday.
  • Mail our grandson's bday card out. He's going to be 15 years old. We were texting last night (4-way between grandson, son, Rick, and me) and I said that, next year he'd be able to drive. He LOLed and said he was really happy about that. His dad? Not so much. His dad doesn't know if he's up to the teaching-someone-how-to-drive task. I had to teach his dad because Rick couldn't do it. We had our moments on the road, I will say that. He said maybe I should come down to teach grandson how to drive.
  • Expecting an Amazon delivery today, but since it's coming via the USPS, it will probably be tomorrow.
I don't know if I mentioned this, but Rick's mom called me yesterday. She is thrilled with her headphones and the audiobooks! Now that she's got the hang of using it, she said that she should have done this a long time ago, instead of fighting to read. Rick took the Kindle up to her on Friday and I figured she had gotten through one or two books. She said she's done with four audiobooks and will finish the fifth book, probably today. The headphones are noise-canceling, so when she needs to zone for a while, she'll put the headphones on, open a book, lean back in her recliner, and.....she can be like that for hours. I'm tickled that she's tickled. (And that explains why, when I called her all morning yesterday, I didn't get an answer. She was zoning!) She's gone from fighting to read one book a week to listening to five audiobooks. And she'd take more if I could load them.
And then she asked me about the donuts. :sigh: I told her that, when we come up on Friday to get the Kindle (so I can load more books), I will have donuts for her then. It's really easy to see where Dear Richard gets his sweet tooth! I'm making donuts on Thursday. Better late than never.

I pulled a not-too-intelligent move yesterday. My brother and SIL brought my flour up. He brought it in the house and put it in the foyer for me. I looked at him and got teary-eyed. Said, "Oh god, I miss you!" And he just reached out and pulled me in for a big hug. And I let him! Covid-wise, that was not a smart move, even with us both masking. And I could kick myself. After we hugged, he looked at me and said, "Well, crap!" He realized the same time I did. And my SIL yelled out the car, "WTH? Spreading the Covid?" But honestly, it just happened.

Winchester Winchester I bet that hug felt good and it was needed. You and Rick are so safe. You have your own bubble so I'm sure it'll be ok. It's wonderful that Evelyn enjoys the audiobooks.

regular stuff

cleaned off some stuff off the deck, paper plates I'd used for the cats, pieces of food. There are large pieces of ice but it's
supposed to be in the 50s today.so that will melt. Will throw out 2 boxes that I had for the cats as they are soaked. Little
ginger-buff Chrissie comes every morning and sits on top of the box Nicole made. She used a garbage bag so it's dry.

Yesterday Big Cal got behind the pillows I keep on the sofa and slept there for about 5 hours. I didn't have the heart to move
her so I moved the lap-top. I'm reading an article from Vanity Fair archives first published in 2013. When the allegations about
Woody sexually abusing their adopted daughter years ago I didn't believe them and I still didn't for a long time but while reading
this article my views are changing. I wish I had a printer because this article is lengthy.

Winchester Winchester I agree with Mia6 Mia6 : that hug must have felt so so so good... Sometimes you just gotta do it.. You are safe.. you take precautions. I imagine you Brother and SIL do the same.. so no worries... ((Hugs)))

Mia, you are so good with the babies. You treat Cal the say as I treat Gefffrey

Pam, I was thinking of you this morning, when Geoffrey was yelling at me.. Yes, Yelling at me bacuse I did not pull out his wand toy, fast enough.. It was , "Hurry Up, I'm waiting.. I want to Play"
"I do not care about you doing your pre-breakfast things. I want my mousey!! Hurray"

He stopped immediately when he saw me to to the drawer...

He will be ok for a about 90 minutes, until he wants more attention.. and it is time for his 'medicine'~~ laxatone. He tells me when it is time for it! Crazy Cat...

Today:
It is supposed to be in the 40's today!! almost 50!! The sun is shining! I have a couple of windows cracked open. The birds are finding nesting locations.

I had the windows open almost all day, yesterday.. so nice to get air in here. I plan to do the same today.

I got up a bit later than usually, this morning. I was surprised Geoffrey did not wake me up at 6am.. amazing! I finally got up at 7;30...

*regular morning stuff
*pay a couple of bills
*get something from the trunk of my car.
*wash out humidifiers
May go outside for a very short walk, or to just sit on beach wall,, Yes, the snow is still around, a bit, on the edges.. but it looks so inviting.. Cloudless sky!!

There are so many seagulls! The storms continue to wash a ton of clams onto the shoreline. There is at least a 6 foot depth of clams, in a line, along the shore.. amazing. I have lived in this city my entire life, and have never seen this before...

Are they edible? 🦪(couldn't find a clam, hee, hee)
NO, they are only edible to the seagulls!!

I did see some people picking them up, after the first storm.. Now, they are too old and dead.

You not allowed to go clamming on this beach.. not allowed, but some people do, not many.
There is a cleaning station way up north..

regular stuff

washings some darks

rough night, awoke at 11:30pm, took meds and had a cuppa, played WWF, tried to go back to sleep
but just dozed. Texted Kaylee and told her not to come in. I think she is meeting a friend while she is
doing shopping and errands and I want to catch her. I'm going to ask Nicole if she'll pick me up and
we'll follow her. I know this sounds very ridiculous but I want to be right before I confront her. She has
no idea what vehicle Nicole drives and her car is easy to spot. She takes way too long on most days and
her friend doesn't work and shops in Wadsworth.

Colder today but yesterday was nice. I opened the bedroom windows to let in some fresh air and sun.

Mia6 Mia6 I think I'm missing something. What's going on with Kaylee?
artiemom artiemom Geoffrey hollers like Muffin! Honestly, it's a hoot to listen to them! :redheartpump:
  • Molli and I got up around 8. I gave the girls their after-breakfast breakfast and made my coffee. And just as I took my first swig of coffee, "Mom? Mom!" And out we went. It really is a pretty morning, the sun is shining, but it's on the breezy side (it usually is around here). We saw something scurry underneath Clarence, I don't know it if was a bunny or what. Maybe a mouse. Muffin was dead-still, just watching. I stopped, just in case it came back out. Then she started yelling at it. "Come out! I know you're under there! I saw you! Come out! NOW!" We walked on over to the shed and she yelled at the rooster down the road. On the way back, a leaf blew in to the driveway. "Mom, walk down there; I want to see it!" "Muffin, it's a leaf! That's all." "Mom!" "Fine! Fine, fine, fine!" and we walked down the driveway to the leaf, just in time to see it blow over to the yard. She tensed, but didn't try to leave my arms. Came back into the house and she's in her stroller. My coffee is cold. Again.
  • Today is Donut Day at the Winchester house. I'm making Feather-Light Doughnuts and Portuguese Beignets. The FL donuts get rolled out and cut. The beignets are just dropped into the hot oil from a large spoon. Both are really good. I made both the doughs and am waiting on them to rise as they're proofing in the oven. Dear Richard knows that, once the oil gets poured into the electric saucepan, he may not leave the house and the fire extinguisher will sit by the kitchen table. I still don't like playing with hot oil.
And I guess I'd better get started! Stay tuned!

I think I'm missing something. What's going on with Kaylee?
I was up very early and got very little sleep so I asked her not to come in.
she is gone way too long a lot of times when she goes shopping and I think she is meeting her friend at Walmart or McDonalds
This happened with another aide and my nephew did the detective work and found her doing her laundry at the laundrette!
So I want to see if I'm right but I want to be there, not tell her Nicole saw you. She's never met Kaylee whereas David knew
my aide.

You spoil that girl of yours but I'd do the same thing if Cal liked it but picking up 15 pounds would be rough, ha!!

Good luck with the donuts🍩

that is horrible about Kaylee.; but I get it. My dad had a PCA who was great at first, then starting calling in sick a ton.. then showed up in high heels, skirt, make up, jewelry.. It was so obvious that she was 'meeting' someone or was doing something on the sly.. She did not stay the entire allotted time.. A couple times, I stayed home from work; and saw how she was dressed.

Last straw was she was out a week---I called supervisor, told her, and asked for a new PCA..
I guess they were watching her...

Winchester Winchester yes, Geoffrey never stops talking!! NEVER!! omg...
He has claimed my bedroom as 'his' room.. hardly ever comes out.. only to eat, use the litter box, check to make sure I am still here... When he does, he talks..

He also calls me, when he wants company!! He is usually on the bed, calling me, for attention, and cuddles... Omg..

If I walk by the bedroom, on the way to the bathroom, he will see me, immediately roll over on his back, stretch, call me... so crazy!!
I have never seen a cat ask for so much attention, cuddling.. and is always rubbing his face on me, constantly.

This morning, I put my clothes out on the bed. He immediately jumped on top of my sweatshirt~~~ to keep me from putting it on! He knew it was a good one, and I was going to leave the apartment. He did not want me to leave.. crazy cat...

Today:
*Up early for Covid Test at 9am
*late start of morning stuff
*took a half a chicken breast and a couple sausages, to cook in spaghetti sauce, for the week end.
may make it tomorrow.. I do not know...
It is Lent, no meat on Fridays, but if I do not eat the meat, then it is not really a cheat...
or is it??
*I really have to work on cleaning the humidifiers.. I did not get to them yesterday. They need a good wash down with bleach... yuck
**** one more bill to write out...

When I returned from the Covid test, I saw that Geoffrey ate the rest of the wet food mix, I put out.. So now, he can have his dry... These are my rules, and I am sticking to them..
He fusses more, when I am home, trying to get me to change my mind..

G came out, yelling at me: "Where were You??? You left me!! How dare you!" "I had to eat the food you left me!! You know I do not like it!" "How dare you!"
I turned around picked him up and gave him his laxatone.. He is now in my/our bedroom.

Windy and a bit chillier out there today... Tomorrow will be colder..

I really am quite fond of her but she makes bad choices. She and her fiancée have broken up. People get hurt, financee's son
adores K and she him and he is only 18 months old, how do you explain to a baby where someone they love has gone??
K stayed all night with an ex boyfriend and came in yesterday in the same clothes from Tuesday, ha! I needed a break from
her and she only works 2 hours on Thursdays Kaylee has to stay, no way around it now. There is an app on her phone that tells
the office and the state where she is but not what she is doing. She has to clock in and out on her phone..

artiemom artiemom Geoffrey is a hoot. I love it that he yells at you the way Muffin yells at me. Gotta love the kids. When the M & Ms are in the bedroom and I walk in, they'll both roll over and stretch for attention. I always go to Mollipop first because she expects to be doted on first. Then I'll walk over to Muffin.
Mia6 Mia6 Wow. Is Kaylee still able to get that baby? Do you think it will work out?

I ended up taking a hot, hot, hot shower last night and going to bed under the electric blanket on High. Yesterday morning, I was moving stuff from the kitchen counter over to the table and when I moved the Foodi Grill, I wrenched my upper back. It still hurts. By the end of the day, it really hurt. The doughnuts were an all-day job; the cooking takes the longest, I think. Rolling and cutting is nothing. But it takes forever to cook the things. And then letting them cool down for the pastry cream filling and the chocolate drizzle. It's a all-day thing. Thankfully, Rick did help with the finishing and that helped me a lot. But it all reminds me that I'm not as young as I used to be. And as much as I enjoy doing it, it's still a lot of work. I came back from delivering doughnuts around 6:00 last night and, by that time, I was pooped.
  • My turn to get up with the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my coffee. My back is still twinging. Will take Muffin for her walk later on this morning, probably around 9:00 or so.
  • We're taking doughnuts to Rick's mom this afternoon and will pick up her Kindle for me to load more Abooks.
  • Water the plants in the WeShed; I wasn't out there at all yesterday.
I took a pork loin roast out of the freezer yesterday for Sunday's dinner. But then I remembered that we're getting our second Covid vaccine on Sunday morning. Not sure how we'll feel. So Sunday's dinner has now become Saturday night's supper. And then we'll have leftovers for Sunday. That way, we can just munch when we feel like it. And I think we are finally scheduled. I received a pre-check in from the hospital in my email this morning, so I don't think we're getting re-scheduled. Evidently, third time's the charm.

I don't think she'll be able to get the baby and I don't think it will work out. She already has
one grown child to look after, her mother. She grew up up in a very dysfunctional family
so she needs time to become a responsible person.

Yesterday, I washed out the humidifiers with bleach.. I also did a quick wipe down of my bedroom furniture.. a real quick, one.
Had the Covid Test... all 120 tested were negative!!!!!! Hooray!!
They are going to be offering weekly testing, until April. I think I will get one every other week.. and play it by ear.

Today:
* up at 6:15, Geoffrey was waking me.. "Mama, Get UP!! I want you UP! The sun is shining! I want to play!"... so I got up...
*We played a bit.. not much, because I wanted to go out to a couple of stores.
*Went to Italian Produce/Deli shop, saw someone I knew, we chatted for a bit, then to Rite Aid.
*home : second cup of coffee... on internet
Have to get going;
*rest of morning stuff
*start some sauce, with half a chicken breast and a couple of sausages
*We have another Zoom meeting with Director at 1pm
*Play with Geoffrey, again!! He demands it, right after 3pm
*make frittata for supper.

Geoffrey is so demanding!! OMG... I hate to see how he turns out when he is an old man!!
This morning, again, I put my outside the apartment sweatshirt on my bed, along with rest of clothes, before I took a shower. Yes, he immediately lied down upon my clothes, so I would not leave!!!

When I got out of the shower, I really had to shoo him off!! OMG>. I was nice, "Uppy! Uppy! Up, Up, I have to go" then, "move'.. finally I had to try sliding my clothes out from under him!!
That is when he got up and went under bed...

Upon returning home, I got the reprimand: "Where did You Go? You were gone a long time!!
You left me with the yucky food! I will not eat it!""" and on and on while he was walking around!

While I was drinking coffee, he came at me again! "What, no dry food! Are you crazy! I want my dry food"... and then went back on my bed..

Crazy cat....

Your donuts look so good.. the beignets look similar to something my mom used to make; no yeast. We called them, phonetically: Punchkies... so good. Sold, but delicious.. a great vanilla flavor.. She would roll them in confectioners sugar. She did not make them often, because it was a ton of work, but I remember them to this day!

will attempt to clean off the deck. The large box the cats used to sleep in needs to be thrown out, etc.

Although it's only in the 30s and temps will rise to high 40s, it is very damp. Little Chrissie came
yesterday for dinner and he has a wound on his left leg. There was a lot of blood on his hair but
I couldn't get a good look at the wound. I keep sterile gauze pads, peroxide, Neosporin and A&D
Ointment on a cabinet right by the slider door in case I need to administer treatment to any of the gang.
Gang of one now, ha!! He wouldn't let me near his leg so I didn't try anymore but did again this morning but
he started growling and I don't want him to scratch me.badly. I wish I could get a syringe of a tranquillizer
from the vet for times like this. It would only take a few seconds for it to take effect and I could clean the
wound and apply the meds.

Winchester Winchester Were the donuts a hit? Maybe Cindy and I will drop in for a taste, hee, hee

Yesterday:
Up and out to stores.. did morning stuff; made some sauce with a half chicken breast and a couple of sausages from the butcher. Listened to a Zoom meeting; made a stove top frittata for supper.. Geoffrey had a great play session.

Today:
*morning stuff
*need to change bed linens
I have a bunch of things to do, but do not know if I will get to any of them: but I really need to begin.
It depends on how I feel .
Last night's sleep was not al that good.. I went to bed early, slept fitfully. Geoffrey, the litter brat, was yelling at me, 6am.. "Get UP!! I mean it! Get up".... i ignored him. He was not happy.

He began again at 7am!! Man, what a cat; "Hurry up! I want to play! Get Up.. Mama, You need to play with me!"... It was right in my left ear.. I really jumped.. the little @hit... I tried ignoring him, but at 7:20, it was impossible!!

While I was sitting on the pot, first thing in morning.. He came in, rubbed against my legs.. but put his head in the litter box; reminding me that it needed to be scooped from his morning rituals!!

I said, "All right, All right, I see it, I'll get to it".. Geoffrey said, "Grrrumps..." and walked away. When I got in the kitchen I could see him waiting next to the desk, where I keep his wand toys. He really wanted to play... no pleasing this boy....I created a monster!!

Geoffrey refused his breakfast... brat!! I think I added too much water to it.. I will add a bit more food, in a bit.

On my second cup of coffee.. It is that kind of day.. I also put cartons on... Tom and Jerry...
Snowing, but will turn to all rain ~~ no accumulation.

Geoffrey is curled up on OUR bed!! .......

artiemom artiemom Geoffrey is simply a hoot. He and Muffin should get together. They could yell in a duet! Snowed here, too, but just a covering. It's really foggy out now.
Mia6 Mia6 C'mon over! You and Cindy are welcome anytime! I'd say the donuts were a hit; everybody thought they were really good. I got my fill the day I made them; after that, I can leave them alone.
  • Muffin and I are having an argument. I went down to the front door twice with the blanket. She started down, but when I tried to pick her up, she ran. I told her that, if she wants to go out, she has to do it my way. Or we don't go. She doesn't think she needs the blanket today and she won't let me pick her up. So we don't go. She's sitting back here in the doorway, screaming at me. You know, I'm not going to win this argument, don't you? Put me down for a walk with Muffin as one of my three things. Sooner or later.
  • I'm going through the house today, a good vacuuming and swiffering, changing the bed sheets. I want it all done bc we're getting that second shot tomorrow and I don't know how I'm going to react. What I can do today I don't have to worry about for a couple of days.
  • And then I'll go out to the WeShed and do the same thing out there.

I'll be curious to know if you have a reaction, Winchester Winchester . We got our second shots (Pfizer) at 3 in the afternoon on Wednesday. I woke at about 11 p.m. with a sore arm, and the next day, I had a slight headache and felt very tired. I was fine 24 hours later. My husband's arm was a little sore and that was it for him, but he never reacts to shots. Based on my reading and on what the nurse said who gave me the shot, older people are less likely to have a reaction. So there. A benefit of being older. Good luck with yours!
