Any and all help would be greatly appreciated...
HI there folks I've been a cat owner for many years and have also had the privilege of welcoming the odd litter of kittens into the world too however this time my cat seems to have left me somewhat confused yet also heartsore...

For some reason after giving birth to a litter of 3 healthy kittens about 3 weeks back she seems to be having a bit of a hard time trying to pee or poop in the litter box. She's eating a lot, drinking enough, tending to her little ones perfectly fine however when she makes it to the litter box she just sits on it for like 15 to 20 minutes now and then she meows then gets up without having deposited anything takes a couple of steps then goes back to sit for another couple of minutes. Eventually it seems like she gets fed up then goes back to the kittens and a few hours later repeats the process.
Every other visit she does manage to vacate her bowels but that's maybe once a day if at all.
She has a very healthy diet eating a mixture of dry kibble (a very well known brand) and wet food and drinks quite slot of water so I don't think it's her diet.
I also keep her litter box clean recycling the gravel and topping up with fresh litter once in the morning and once in the evening. She also doesn't do her business anywhere else and I've made sure to check. (she's a house cat and only has a couple of square meters of yard space that's completely enclosed)
If anybody could help by educating me on my cats odd litter box behavior especially now after she's given birth I'd greatly appreciate it...

Thanks in advance

That is one sign of possible uti, sitting in the litterbox. She needs a vet visit

Many thanks after much time researching my cats issue I eventually decided it could be 1 of 2 things if not both in a worst case scenario situation 1- constipation and 2- a uti and with the 2 additional suggestions of it being a uti I feel a bit more sure that that's what it is... Now to get her that vet's appointment ASAP and see what the next step is to cure this problem and better yet to prevent it from happening again cause I hated having to to see how much discomfort it brought her...

Thanks again for taking the time to read and respond

I agree. She may have a UTI.
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond I feel so much better being able to almost certainly confirm that a uti could be the cause.

Many thanks

Yep, sounds like a UTI. Vet will give antibiotics which should cure it quickly - usually clavamox. Let us know the outcome please.
