Moo has started taking his paw and pulling the wet food out of his dish onto the floor. Sometimes he eats it and other times he walks away. I take the food that's in his dish and put it in the center of the dish and he starts to eat that. I've tried different dishes but he still does it.

Some time my cat has to see me dish out the food and put in front of her then watch her eat. My dishes are elevated ceramic bowls from chewy. Same with the water.

I have no idea if it is even remotely the same, but Feeby will not eat her canned food once she has flattened it out in the dish. She doesn't paw at it though. But, if I re-scoop the food back into a pile, she will then start to eat it again. For a 3 oz can, I might have to do this 4-5 times before it is nearly gone. She is more of a lapper/licker of her food, and that is why she flattens it out. And, to add to the misery, once there is only a little bit left she won't eat any more of it.

There is nothing I have tried that will stop her from doing this; so, I kind of just live with it. You can try an elevated dish, as mentioned above. If he isn't flattening out like Feeby, does you could also experiment with flat plates or a paper plate, just to see if that might make a difference. In the meantime, set the dish on a thin washable mat to help with clean up.

Maggie will not eat if the food is flattened like a loaf. Peaches likes her food so she likes it that way. Maggie takes bites

My cat Po does that quite often. He'd rather eat it off the floor than in a bowl or plate. Sometimes I'll notice him doing that when he wants to play and we haven't given him enough attention. Morty will do something similar but with the water bowl instead. :disappointed:

I did once have big whisker free bowls that were almost flat. I got rid of it because of peaches. She is messy since she licks her food

Sometimes Delilah takes a mouthful of food and puts it down, then seems to take smaller bites eating it up. Weirdly yesterday she took a mouthful jumped out of her cat tree to the floor, took smaller bites, then went back up and finished her bowl.

Wow. Cats sure have the corner on weird eating behavior. The food itself might have something to do with it since it's Science Diet prescription for liver problems. Thanks for making me not feel so bad about Moo.:D
