I'm curious what everyone uses. I switched hairstylists after Covid lockdowns. My hairdresser is using a permanent hair dye, which my previous hair dresser didn't. My hair is taking a long time to process and I'm starting to wonder if it is my shampoo and conditioner. I've been using Pantene forever, but I've also heard people say it can cause issues with your hair so I was thinking of trying a different brand.

Permanent hair dye does take longer to process in general than semi-permanent or rinses...did your hair dresser say it was taking longer than usual for you? If you've been used to semi's or rinses you may notice the grow out from your roots much more now with a dye.
Pantene uses silicones which can build up on the hair shaft which is why it can cause problems for some. While it's great for the short term, as it coats the hair to make it silky and shiny, with the build up, eventually it can cause the hair to become brittle and dry. You could do a clarifying hair wash every few weeks to remove any build up if you want to keep using Pantene.
As for types of shampoo. For the longest time I was actually making my own cleansing conditioner, but I'm currently using Garnier Whole Blends. I like it fine. The thing is, I don't color my hair, so I can't really advise you a good hair color shampoo.

Whey I was coloring my hair, I used Biolage for color treated hair. It worked great. I used their conditioner also. Pink label.

I've been using Moroccan Oil shampoo and their conditioner for years. I find you don't need a lot of it, smells great and leaves my hair really feeling nice. I also like their oil treatment you apply to wet hair (just a few drops needed) and blow dry from there as usual. Really helps the condition of your hair quite a bit.

To keep the blonde looking good longer, I resort to "blonding" shampoos/treatments now and then. They are purple colored and counteract the brassiness that can occur with highlight and such. The one I use is by Kevin Murphy called Blonde Angel. It's very pricy but since you only use it once a week if that, it last a long time.

I've been coloring my hair at home (permanent color) with Preference by Loreal for several years. I have light brown hair naturally, (with grey now) and if I use Golden Blond my hair comes out honey colored, darker than the box, and a little "warmer" than the box, and since I'm 59 I think it's better to have warm tones for the complexion, I really like the result a lot. And I use the same products my hairstylist uses, Biolage, all of them are good. I don't have my stylist color my hair because I already like the result I'm getting at home and my stylist likes the color on me.

When I was dying my hair, I used Treseme for colored hair. Paul Micheal was good too but very expensive. Pantene has waxes in it. It is best to change shampoos frequently. If you can find 2 you like then alternate.

That's what I use. Normally I get it from the hair salon, but Amazon sells it too, at about the same price.
Amazon.com : biolage shampoo and conditioner
You can also pick it up at Rite-Aid and I think CVS....

Now that my hair has grown out and is Grey---looks like heavy highlights.. I use the Purple Shampoo and Conditioner. I get it from Sally's Beauty Supply. I usually get the cheaper one; but my hair is getting dry and thinning so I am trying the next one up: Clairol Shimmer Lights.. it is for blonde/grey/silver hair... takes the brassiness out..

Next time I wash my hair, it will be the Clairol, for the first time.. along with the conditioner.

I used to use Redken Color Extend Shampoo and Conditioner when I was coloring my hair. I'd also put in a dollop of It's a 10 Miracle Deep Conditioner.

Now that I'm going grey/white, my stylist told me to try purple shampoo, so I switched over to Shimmer Lights by Clairol, both shampoo and conditioner. I only use it every other shampoo, though, not every time. You can tell if you're using too much because your hair will get that purplish/blue cast. I'm pretty careful, so I haven't had that happen. And I still throw in a dollop of It's a 10 with the Shimmer Lights conditioner. For those times when I'm not using Shimmer Lights, I use Redken Extreme shampoo with It's a 10 conditioner.

I asked my hairdresser about the 'purple' hair rumor. She said it only happens in the extreme; as in, if you wash you hair daily.. once or twice a week wash with the purple shampoo will not turn it purple.

I did buy the Clairol Shimmer Lights shampoo and conditioner. The next wash will be with these. I had been using Sally's Generic Purple Shampoo. It was great in the beginning, but now my hair is gettin thinner, flat, and just not as bright as it was... I wonder if I need something different.

I know my hairdresser is now stocking Biolage Purple shampoo.. Since Covid, more woman are kept their grey instead of coloring..

Will let you know how it goes...

Thank you all! I'm leery to order on amazon because I've seen too many comments about counterfeit product, especially for Redken. I'll start trying some of these out. :)

My stylist recommended Sally's generic purple shampoo/conditioner, but when I went in to buy it, they were out of the conditioner. That's why I went with Shimmer Lights. So far, I've had no complaints. I like it.

I do need to hit Ulta though for the Redken One United. Honestly it is the best thing for my tangles after a shampoo. Again, since I went grey/white, my hair has gotten very tangly during a shampoo and nothing works to help with the tangles like One United. I try to buy it when it's on sale, but.....Covid. And now I'm completely out. And my hair shows it.
