Hi my kitten is now 10 weeks old and I am feeding her two pouches of wet food a day over 5 meals. The thing is she is always hungry snd scavenging for food. She will go along the kitchen floor and eat any crumbs that are there and also is a nightmare when we’re eating she actually would take off our plates if we let her. She had a vets appointment in two weeks and I’m actually thinking of asking if there is a problem. It’s years since we’ve had a kitten but our old cat never did this. Any advice would be appreciated.

Kittens need a lot of food because they are growing, don't be afraid to given her a little more if she appears to he hungry. What is the feeding guide on the box of pouches. Has she been wormed.

Kittens are always hungry because of their crazy energy and most of them double their weight nearly every 4 weeks in the first 3 to 4 months. Some have a slower growth curve, some have a faster curve.

They are burning off the calories nearly as fast as they take in another small meal.

Kittens should never go hungry. Feed the little darling. He or she has very short infancy and adolescence and little time to learn their survival traits. This is why they play with teeth and claw and bluster and fluff and itty-bitty adorable mock fury.

It says 2 pouches for her age and yes she’s been wormed. I will feed her more to see if that satisfies her thanks

Do you think there’s any difference in feeding kittens Tesco own brand kitten wet pouches or more expensive ones. We’ve only had our kitten two weeks and she was on Tesco own brand which I have kept her in as I know she likes it. Just wondering if another make maybe more filling? I remember the guy at my Cattery always swears by supermarket own brands but not sure about kitten food.

Not sure but maybe a higher protein percentage would fill her more. I would just give her another half or even full pouch, kittens soon burn off the extra calories. She is growing rapidly at 10 weeks and needs plenty of food.

I agree with what all the posters said.

Kittens are highly energetic and they burn off calories pretty fast as all they do is eat, sleep and play. They need at least 300 calories per day. They also need high protein food and nutrients and all these comes from feeding them wet food (canned food) meant for kittens meat being mentioned as the first ingredient in the label or you can also feed them wet food labeled 'For All Life Stages' And wet food keeps them hydrated. Kittens need proteins and nutrients in their formative year.

I don't know how big the pouches are that you are feeding and also how much calories are in it. Kittens eats lots and you can feed them as much as they can eat at one sitting. Once they are full, they'll move away. Feed them 4 - 5 times a day, each time as much as they can eat. You can never over feed a kitten.

Normal cat breeds mature at 1 year old and as they approached their 7th month, they go into a growth spurt age where they eat more than usual and that will last into their first year and their food intake will slowly taper off. So don't be alarmed if they eat more when they are nearing a year old and eating less after that. You may continue feeding our cat with food labeled 'For All Life Stages' even when she's an adult or do a slow transition to adult's food. My bo is on wet food labeled 'For All Life Stages' since he was 3 weeks old till now and he's past 5 years already.

Any transition of food, you have to do it gradually. So your cat being hungry and scavenging fo food is that she is still very hungry. And if she is fed well and full, she won't be looking for food till the next meal.

Everything tabbytom tabbytom wrote.
I wonder how many ounces those pouches are? Most come in around 3 ounces so only 2 a day would be far below the calories a kitten needs and requires. Most kittens can easily eat twice that much a day.

Just feed your kitten as much food as she will eat :) Ignore the feeding guideline on the package. Kittens are constantly hungry and need a lot of food to grow. Two pouches obviously isn't enough because she's seeking out food anywhere she can to eat. Add another pouch or two or more daily. I suggest offering a small bowl of dry kibble as well so the kitten can snack on something in between the pouch meals.

I just checked and the Tesco pouches are about 85grams with between 75/80 calories per pouch so two per day won't be enough. All good advice above by members.

I'd stop feeding the tesco and feed a better quality kitten food. I never trust anything that doesnt actually fully put whats in it. At her age basically feed her however much she wants. I was feeding my one kitten 4-5 cans a wet food a day at that age lol.
