So we got Jasper last year (I'm sure some of you remember my posts XD) and he's had this line of dry skin going down his leg ever since he was a kitten. But these last few days I've noticed it seems more pronounced and much redder. The skin isn't hot, and it's not raw. It's still just dry skin to touch, but it's more noticable and redder. I hesitate to consider it a hot spot because I rarely see him licking it, and it's never bleeding or anything. I didn't take him to the vet over it before because I always assumed it was just a scar. Should I take him to the vet over this? Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

The line of dry skin literally goes from the top of his leg to his ankle area.

He's not in pain, he's active, and eats an ungodly amount of food (and he drinks water) so he's not displaying any signs of being ill. He's got his huge big personality too, which hasn't wavered.

Anyone ever see this before?

Thanks in advance. =(

Hi. It looks irritated. What ever is going on must be escalating - to go from what you thought was a scar to such redness. I have no idea what it might be, but if it were me, I'd be having a vet take a look at it.

I suppose you could try sending a pic to the vet, and explain what it used to look like if they haven't seen it before, but odds are they will just tell you to bring Jasper in for them to get a better look at it.

Maybe some of the members will have a better idea of what it could be. Hoping you hear from them soon!

Hi Krienze, I can't see it clearly in the pic, but the way you describe it, it reminds me of a former cat of mine that had eosinophilic granuloma. She had red bold lines running along the back of her back legs, and at times it would get itchy and irritated

Yeah, sadly we've been avoiding the vet because of how hard it's been to get in to see him. I think we're gonna just drive up next week and see. =/

Oh gosh D: I don't know if it's that, this started out plain/not red

We plan on taking him to the vet as soon as our car is back from the shop but I noticed it seems to be going up now? This is near his butt and going down.
