Your words, kindness And wisdom is so helpful! I hope Scotch does heal easier than I think he is ❤ He’s such a good loving boy! Thank you for all your help! Ide swear you are an angel 😇 your words and comfort have helped me get through the weekend without my Bubbies xxx I really appreciate your help xx 🐱
You're so welcome. I'm glad I could help a bit. I'm getting a bit teary eyed but in a happy way, because you're thanking me too much.:touched: And no, I'm not an angel...not even close. Similar worries, frustrations, and problems like everyone else. 🤷‍♀️

The real angels are actually ALL the members, especially in this part of the Site, Crossing the Bridge, that offer comfort, sympathies, condolences, support, and strength to the many cat guardian members, who have lost their cats.
They do this daily, weekly or whenever a cat guardian needs it. I'm just amazed by the Strength these people have.
Their Compassion shines through in every post they write.
And the members who offer it to each other, too,..even when they have recently lost a cat, and still feel the recent loss. :rbheart:
Love these boys ❤

Quick question about the above photo, which is another fantastic one.
Is that 'Black cat outside the window near the Boo sign'....a Halloween cut-out? ...:blackcat:
I cannot figure it out.:dunno:
It looks so real...but then I figured it had to be a prop...or photoshop?
I just cannot tell. It's a hilarious photo. :blackcat::caticon::caticon:

You have all been angels on here. So much support and words of wisdom! You have all made me feel a bit less pain with all the help! I'm very thankful for finding this sight!! I really appreciate all of the help!!
On the photo LOL that is an actual black cat outside!! Butter and Scotch always go to the window when that cat runs around the house and it was so funny to see the black cat sitting on the milk jug with the Halloween sing right there!! It was such a perfect photo :) They all sat like that for over 20 minutes! Even the black cat, he didnt move hahahah So many funny things like that with the boys.. I sure miss seeing them together... They really brought me so much happiness!! Scotch does too though as ive said, i feel sad now seeing him all alone... Im grateful animals (from what ive been told) dont' grieve quite as hard as us so im hopeful he will be ok and hopeful he will take to a new kitten soon <3 I'm sure that will be another experience!!! I'll be looking for more help when the time comes!! :)

Lol. I swear I couldn't believe that black cat was real.:blackcat: 🧐
I actually went online to surf, and see if I could find a halloween prop that looks like that. nope.:headshake:
It's such an awesome photo! and that your boys are orange (or ginger...whatever you call it)...makes it look like halloween even more.

Yeah, I'm hopeful, too, and pretty sure that your Scotch will be okay, and come to love another kitten/young cat also.
Being hopeful is a great way to be. (I have to remember that, too.)
Yes, you'll be in for a fun and exciting experience. Just remember to have a lot of patience, too. (you might not even need it, though.)
There's tons of help and members with loads of experience and advice in the Cat Behaviour section...so no worries...there. :)

When the time comes, it will probably be easier than you think...since your Scotch sounds like a real chill cat.
Just practice those Play, play, and play skills, now with Scotch...so you don't get too rusty...and into shape. :jive:
Butter will be looking down on all you guys with a smiling 'meow' and a 'high five paws up'.
He will probably be sending vibes to the new kitten too.:caticon::bluepaw:

I know that picture looks so fake! I couldnt believe it when i saw the black cat on the milk jug just sitting there and the boys watching so intense!
I sure hope Scotch will stay layed back and chill with another kitten! He's such a good boy that i think he will, well after the initial shock lol Yes we keep playing mousy with him and he plays like normal and is eating, drinking, grooming and snuggling so i think the boy is doing ok right now! It's his mommy that keeps struggling... But each day i feel a little stronger.. though getting up is always tough when the reality hits me as soon as i awake.. but hopefully that will ease up... (yes hope is good.. one of the things i hold onto to keep on keeping on!)
Thank you again for your kind words! We have had our eyes out looking for kittens so I will be needing all your help even more soon! :)

Actually, I thought the black cat looked 'too real'...and just 'too perfect' sitting there...so yeah, I guess I did think it must be a fake cat.
It blew my mind, for a while. lol.

You really have a special talent with photographs. :clover:
Like I mentioned in the other thread, some of your photos really do deserve to be in magazines, and photo contests, too.
I just wish you'd get like paid for some of them...(but I wouldn't know how that would work...online photography submissions)...for like pet magazines, flyers, posters,...calendars, inspirational quotes, etc? I wonder if online photography clubs do know about these kinds of things. :purplebutterfly:

Yeah, I'm guessing that Scotch might initially be like, "who and where did this guy come from? I know we discussed it, but I have to check him out, ...before I approve."
But you never know....Scotch might be like, "cool, whatever,...let's have some food now." :cool2:

I'm glad you're feeling a little stronger each day. It will take time. :hugs: :grouphug:
I remember that someone, on this thread,.. said that it's good to stick to a routine,...so I guess a 'new routine' for the 'new normal'.
Remembering to eat and sleep well, and taking time for yourself, to do things you enjoy, that make you smile.

"though getting up is always tough when the reality hits me as soon as i awake.."
You're so right. I found that it was always hardest ...when I used to get that 'new reality hitting me, too' thought or feeling, when awakening, (when any of my animals, or dearest humans died.)
Or when you are sometimes trying to get to sleep...and suddenly you get that same....'sudden flash' of reality.
It does ease up. It seems like time helps that along.

"to keep on keeping on" :heartshape:
I love this expression from you.
I'm going to try and remember it...and use it, too. :clover:
It's just a beautiful expression. (It says it all.)

Your kind words are helping me a lot, too,...just remembering the important things in life.

No worries on the help with cat-intros, or kitten-intros,...those are fairly easy, and straight forward to do.
You set up a plan, follow a routine, and day by day...you see progress being made. :bluepaw:
Mostly your cat Scotch will guide you along. All we humans have to do is Set it up, watch, and observe...plus the feeding, playing, and distracting, of course. So I guess a little work is involved, but more fun-work, than work-work. :geekcat:

Just another suggestion that... might help ease a little more of your grief,... throughout the day...@tbtra

What helped me, was finding a Song, that I listened to ...and that helped me feel better.

(For instance, ...when my younger cat had died...I dedicated the 'Adele song' called 'Lovesong' to my cat. (which she did as a cover song of the Cure's version). In it the lyrics that got to me were....
'However far away
I will always love you'

and for my senior cat it was 'Beyonce's Sweet Dreams'' (live version...at wynn las vegas (slower)...than dance version)
the lyrics...
"Tattoo your name across my heart
So it will remain...
Not even death could make us part"
)

So if you like music, then perhaps...you can also find a Song you like...that has meaning to you...and dedicate it to Butter.

(I know that sometimes this is hard,...since whenever, in the future you hear that song, ...you will automatically remember him,...but really...in the future...you will remember only the good things, too.)
Anyways, it might help.
Even if it makes you cry...you end up eventually smiling, too.

I hope your day goes well, today,...and each day gets a little more and more easier, too,.. tbtra tbtra . :rbheart: :hugs: :grouphug:

Your replies always cheer me up :) Funny, i was going to make a calendar of the boys with all my photos but never got around to it... of course I always thought i'de have the time.. guess that's one of those errors we make in life... we always think we have more time..:hearthrob:.. thank you for the compliments on my photo's :) but i think it's just the boys were so damn cute together, i really couldn't take a bad picture of them!!
I sure hope getting a new kitten goes easy with Scotch. I want the boy to be happy and he prob would maybe without a new kitten but then i think about him being alone so much during the day and not having Butter to have fun with and makes me think we really should get a new kitten... I do sure hope it's fun work and not work work! There's already too much work work in life :) But with the help of all you on this site, I'm sure even if it's 'work work' you will help make it easier!!:wave3:

That's such a great idea! I'll have to give that some thought and find the perfect song for my Bubbies :rbheart: It might really make me cry but it will always remind me of my boy.. God i just so HATE that he is gone... My baby didn't get near enough time to spread his joy!! UGGGG... i will be thinking of a song for my boy. THank you for sharing the songs you dedicated to your fur babies that you have lost. Every time i lose an animal (I had a cat for 21 years! Mischief was her name.. after her i had a baby girl named Sunshine and she was with us for 14 years! Then of course my baby Butter) but every time we lose our fur babies.. i really think I could never get another, as the pain is awful.. but then the pain living without an adorable fury baby running around the house is also pretty horrible.. and i think we all feel that! These animals sure make our lives so much enjoyable and easier to handle the ups and downs that go along with daily life! !! I'm going to start thinking of the perfect song for my boy! Thank you so much Catnap!! :thanks::rbheart:

It's true, we do always think we have more time...but I figure even if we had more hours in the day...we'd probably just end up ...doing something else, too. Who knows.

That's why I think there has to be something else after this life...especially for animals. Butter's life was way too short...(but even our human lives seem kind of short...in the whole big history of time-thing.) I figure there has to be a heaven or something. Love...Energy...can't be lost. I guess we all cope with death differently, and everyone believes in different things, too,...to help them get by. Just doing the best we can with what we are given...I guess.

Okay, you're right, your boys were pretty much cute in every photo. I mean the one above...that is 'some kitten cuteness overload'...haha. The way that Butter has his paw on Scotch...and looking right at you.:caticon:

But also the way you took the photo, and how you captured the sunshine shining on their fur...(it just makes me want to be a cat...and climb on up...and lay on that windowsill. :cloud9:)
You just really know how to use sun, shade, and background,(lighting and composition)...to capture a mood.
Beautiful. Relaxing and Warm. :)

Thank you Catnap! Your responses are so inspiring! Yes,I believe we have to go on too! We can't live, love, hurt and learn so much to just be gone for good one day... I hope to see my Butter again one day, a long with so many of my wonderful humans that have gone too! Sadly it seems life just "changes" every time we lose our loved ones, animals and humans... They take a piece of our heart and our future with them.... I do agree though, believing we do go on helps our hearts heal and gives some hope we will see those precious faces again one day!

Thank you for the wonderful comments on my photos. I just loved taking pictures of them two! I'm so glad i took so many, though looking back hurts me.. but i guess we can only move ahead by looking back.. I sure do miss that little guys presence in my every day life! :rbheart: but it helps talking about it and looking at his beautiful little face in pictures!! Even if i cry, i know it's got to be helping me as i feel just a little less "heart heavy" Every day!
Ill check out some of the post on introducing cats and kittens. I am a bit nervous about trying to do that, but i think for Scotchies best interest (and probably mine) It would be good to have two fury babies running around together again!
I hope you have a great day and I appreciate all the words of wisdom! They really do help!! :wave3:

My sister sent me this beautiful coffee mug. :hearthrob: Made me cry seeing my little Butter on here... But then I realized how lucky I was to have these wonderful, faithful adorable cats sharing my life time..Butter i had for much to short of a time.. but each one filled my days with pure love, happiness and joy. It is true, it was better to love and then lost then to never have loved at all! :redheartpump::hearthrob::angel:

Wow...I just can't get over... how Beautiful this coffee mug is.
It's so personal, and meaningful. :hearthrob:
(If your sister painted it...then...I'm now thinking that 'artistic abilities' definitely run in your side of the family. You being artistic with your photography, and she being able to draw and paint.)

This coffee mug 'painting' really deserves to be an 'actual painting on the wall'.
(I first looked at it over my smartphone....which does not do it justice at all)...
It really needs to be looked at over a computer screen, and enlarged. :heartshape:
Each time I look at it, ...I see details that I missed. The cat's angel wings. The seagulls or birds flying. The way each cat seems to be looking at something else, and the tilt of their heads. It is awesomely amazing. :cloud9:

Even the scene itself, I first thought..."are the cats sitting on a dock, by a lake, waiting for the fish to jump?"...but then it "looked like mist or clouds..and looking down or across a beautiful valley,...with mountains and trees in the distance, a pathway between the mountains in the distance."
So full of different meanings, too, (which the one looking at the painting could imagine).
The way the names are beautifully written, and just the beautiful scene. :clover:

How did you come up with the names for your cats?
Those names are so cute. I'm thinking there is a story behind each one...especially the cat Mischief.
I'm just wondering if the names...fit their personalities, too.

It really is amazing for a coffee mug! And that’s a great idea! It should be a picture..I’ll have to look into that.. my sis does paint but she bought this ..but it’s amazing now spot on my cats are 😊 Mischief I got from the animal shelter 😊 she was calico and half her face was black and the other tiger and then white, the black made her look mischievous with her green eyes, thus Mischief! Also got Sunshine from the shelter after Mischief passed (my husband and daughter got me to get her because I was so sad over Mischief) I got Mischief when I was 17 and she passed when I was 38! So after we adopted Sunshine we found out she was feral! We would have know that if we read her history..long story lol but any way she should have been named Cloudy or Stormy as she was quite a girl with attitude, certainly not a ray of Sunshine 😁!! Hahaha she didn’t like snuggles, kids or really any one but us but as the years went on she mellowed and still just liked us but would cuddle a bit and followed new around like a puppy 😊 and always happy to just be hanging in the same space and she was a pure beauty too! she passed after 14 years! Heartbroken Again..then decided on two kittens since Mischief and sunshine were always alone when we were at work.. Butter and Scotch #ButterScotch and I can credit my 9 year old granddaughter for that ❤
And thank you! This mug and scene and all going on is really beautiful! I cried quite a bit when I got it! But now looking at it makes me think all my loves are still by my side , watching over me 😊 I’ll
Post Sunshine’s pic 😊

It really is amazing for a coffee mug! And that’s a great idea! It should be a picture..I’ll have to look into that.. my sis does paint but she bought this ..but it’s amazing now spot on my cats are 😊
Wow. They truly are spot on. Okay, now that you explained it, I do notice that the painted cat Butter, on the mug, does not have as many Buff tabby stripes...like your real Butter had...but still amazing how close, in colour, the mug is.
The way the names are written gets me the most.

(I did have to look up what "buff" meant, ...when you posted it before...when describing Butter.
I actually thought it meant that he was 'fluffy and tough looking'...(like a trim weightlifter or athlete) ...not that "Buff tabby" meant that he had a 'dilute tabby coat'...or cream colour. I love learning new things like this, everyday.
Mischief I got from the animal shelter 😊 she was calico and half her face was black and the other tiger and then white, the black made her look mischievous with her green eyes, thus Mischief! Also got Sunshine from the shelter after Mischief passed (my husband and daughter got me to get her because I was so sad over Mischief) I got Mischief when I was 17 and she passed when I was 38!
Truly amazing. 21 years for a cat. :)
Mischief must have had some great genetics, ...to live such a long life.

Sweet. So really Sunshine "should have been named Cloudy or Stormy"...haha.

(Yeah, I often figure that is the reason we have...to 'keep adding more nicknames' to the cats we have...as their personalities develop.
My two are named Tripp and Tepaul, after the 'star trek enterprise cast' with Scott Bakula as captain, not the original series.
But I should have named Tripp....fred flintstone...and tepaul...betty rubble...because they act more like these characters...on most days.) :rolleyes2:

Nice. :)
Sounds like your granddaughter has really good skills...with naming cats.
So cute.
(originally I thought that Scotch was named after the drink, due to his color,...not the actual butterscotch syrup, sauce, or candy. :paperbag: )

Sunshine was gorgeous.

It looks like she has a 'heart shaped bib' underneath her neck...and those pretty cute 'white mittens' ...too.
Hard to believe...she acted 'stormy and cloudy'...except maybe for those eyes.
There's just a bit of 'mischief and sparkle in them, too.'

Hope you are having an okay day, today. :)

Hi Catnap! I didn't see this yesterday :) You have to post a pic of your cats! They sound funny, Fred Flinstone and Betty Rubble hahaha (one of may favorite shows when i was a kid!)
Sunshine sure was gorgeous and that was part of the problem! The kids, grandkids, visitors etc would think she was so cute, they would just have to pet her.. even though i always warned against it... they still could never resist!! Lots of scratched hands and hisses resulted in those moves haha She was great if you just let her be, but not many people would so she would show her not so nice side! She was a great pal though.. I miss her.. Really miss my baby Butter ... when i think about finding him that day.. it just crushes me.. i still cant come to terms with such a wonderful, fun loving, beautiful boy being gone in a second like that.. with no warning, nothing.. Just asleep and gone.. ugggg. I just can't wrap my head around what happened and it breaks my heart... I'll never forget that little boy... he really effected me deeply and it just sucks i didnt get 10 years or more with that wonderful little soul..
May get word on a kitten this weekend!! I think Scotch needs it... he's good when im home but he walks around lost when im not (i have camera in my house so i can see him.. I know .. little crazy haha but got it to watch him and butter when they were so little to be sure all was ok...) but i think Scotch really needs a new pal so here's hoping something comes through sooner rather than later and hopefully its not to hard and a good match.. and really there is nothing like a little fur ball kitten running around the house.. so will help my heart too!! Have a nice weekend!!!

No worries, tbtra tbtra ..:wave3:
Sometimes I don't see my updates...either.
Plus...you need to take extra time for yourself...and don't have to respond right away.
Only when you feel like it.

(Today, you motivated me...to actual transfer the photos from my smartphone...finally to the computer.
Umm...it took me forever...which is so bad,...I know...since I should be 'backing up my cell phone photos' ...more regularly...in case I lose them or something. But they were not all cat photos...so yes, I will try to find some recent ones...if any are good...which is kind of doubtful for me...since photography and me...don't really go well together. I think that is why I enjoy looking at other people's photos.)

So give me a few days...to find ones that I like. Tripp...(aka nickname flintstone)...is my avatar photo...but Tepaul...who is very chatty most days... (reminds me of betty rubble)...is also a black cat. (My previous rainbow black cat, named Sparky,..who also died young..at 2yrs 3months (from complications due to him being fiv+ and felv+)...sent me in search of more information online...and that's why I decided to join the Cat Site...where I learned so much about cats, cat health and cat behaviour, from so many amazing members, threads, posts, and articles.

The flintstones was one of my favourite shows as a kid, too.
I think they made way better cartoons back then, than now,...the jetsons, scooby-doo, ..the muppets...even sesame street.
But I guess if you asked the young kids these days...they'd tell you different...and have their favourites, too.

Haha. Yeah...I think it would be very hard to resist, too.
Her looks...are quite stunning...so you'd think,.."how bad could it be".
"How fast could she be"...then bam...you find out pretty quick.
Well....you did warn them...so I guess the lesson was learned very, very fast.

She just sounds like she did not want to be touched...and get her beautiful fur...all messed up.
Plus, like you said...feral before...so she only trusted you and your husband.
Really miss my baby Butter ... when i think about finding him that day.. it just crushes me.. i still cant come to terms with such a wonderful, fun loving, beautiful boy being gone in a second like that.. with no warning, nothing.. Yeah. I'm not sure why things happen the way they do.:alright:
That memory you have of finding him, will be causing you a lot of pain...but hoping in time...the hurt and pain of it...will lessen.
It's like we cannot erase any of the moments...But maybe we're not supposed to...so that the beautiful moments,...the better ones,...come back even stronger. At least I hope so. :hugs: :grouphug:

It still sucks though...I get it. Feeling angry is okay, too.:rbheart: :hugs:

Having a camera is not crazy at all.
You sound like an amazing cat-guardian. :catrub:
It's good to keep an eye on the cats when we're not home.
Hope you have a good weekend, too. :)

There's probably not much more that I could say that hasn't already been said. I don't find condolences to be very comforting because they yank me back to the moment in time that I'm trying to move past. I prefer to enjoy the memories of the love, joy, and life we shared than think about the passing. I keep a "Remembering Krista" thread here in the Bridge forums as well as an Instagram account where I reflect through pictures and videos. Even though many of the pictures I have of her are from her ailing senior years, I still look for the love and the joy in those photos. Because there's no sense in dwelling on the illness anymore. As the curator of her memory, I am very careful now about how I choose to remember those last challenging years and months for her.

Since I did see that you were going to write Butter a letter, (I did the same with Krista), you may also benefit from this as well.
Urgent Coping Skills for Pet Loss Grief | Center for Pet Loss Grief

It's a program you can go through to help you re-focus on the love and joy and lessons learned rather than dwelling on the more uncomfortable thoughts and feelings (which does absolutely no good!) It's basically journaling prompts. But I found it very helpful in those messy first weeks after.

I'm sure another member has already said this (because I heard it from them.) The best piece of advice I heard here was, "don't ever let her death mean more than her life." When you find yourself dwelling on the passing, look through your pictures (and videos if you have any) and re-focus on the love and joy instead. Time is a great eraser. The pain and the difficult memories will fade if you let them. And you can let them fade by crowding them out with happier memories whenever you can. May his memory be a blessing!
