My cat has ringworm and it’s not going away. He’s been on medicine and cream since Thanksgiving. He’s not responding to medicine. I’m doing everything I’m supposed to do. I’m just frustrated. I love him. I just want him well. I just had to vent. I’m so anxious and frustrated. Thank you. Karla

Thank you. I love him so much. I just need him to get well. I need this to be over. He is not responding to Griseofulvin and miconazole cream. It’s on his nose and between his eyes. He is wearing a cone collar so he can scratch. He’s depressed and miserable as am I.

Call your vet and explain this to them, be assertive but diplomatic. They need to know and should be able to help you. Good luck!

Ask the vet if there is a medicine internally given or a different cream then what you are using. Obviously, the one you are using is not working. I feel so sorry for you. Have YOU not gotten it, it is so easily given, that is a miracle. If you do keep lesions covered with a bandaid so they cannot spread, That is WAY too long to go, maybe he will have to be confined to one room so cleaning is deeper, it wouldn't be forever. Make sure it IS ringworm, maybe it is some other fungal infection!

Yes. I’ve gotten it 3 times. I am giving him griseofulvin and using miconazole cream both from vet. I told them Tuesday it’s not working. They made me an appointment for Saturday. I agree it’s taking way too long.

Since Thanksgiving sounds like he's being reinfected.
Is there any place, item, blanket, spot that he hangs out in or rubs against on a regular basis that you might not have cleaned?

Wish I knew. I wash and change blankets daily. I’ve shampooed carpets twice with rubbing alcohol in the water. I vacuum daily and wipe surfaces with bleach water. I’ve washed all the curtains. But yes, it was on his ears and over his eye. That cleared up, then started on his nose Dec 22. I never quit giving him the medicine. But he got reinfected and this nose one is not budging. It grew to cover his whole nose. He has been in a cone collar so he can’t scratch it.

Hopefully your vet will be able to help him on Saturday and give you some answers as to why it's taking so long. Only 3 more days. Hang on! :hangin:

Hello. Toby went to vet today. He said there is new hair growth on his nose. He weighs 12 lbs, not 10, so increased Griseofulvin dosage. He gave him a steroid shot. Keep him isolated and medicated and should see improvement soon. He checked him over and doesn’t see any other spots of ringworm except just on his nose. Toby doesn’t cooperate well. He doesn’t like to go to go to vet and doesn’t like being examined. I’m running out of steam. I just want this to be over.

You're not alone, I don't think most cats particularly enjoy going to the vet. And not being able to go into the vet with them due to Covid makes it even more difficult. Hopefully this trip to the vet will be the last for awhile. :crossfingers:

Thank you all so much for your kind words and advice. I appreciate it. It helps. His nose definitely looks less angry. I can see tiny hairs growing back. Our vet lets people in. There’s just no sitting in waiting room. Not scheduling as many appointments I think. How do you know when it’s no longer contagious? Toby’s mom
