One of the few times she ever used these cat stairs. It was mostly a refuge from the vacuum. I always wished she would use them more. Because they put her right underneath my right hand as I walk through the door.👍😻

*And that's a good position for her to be in!* She looked beautiful on them, too, of course :hearthrob: :kneading::hearthrob::goldstar::loveeyes:

The past few days I've been meditating before work. It's mostly just something to keep me occupied while I ice my back. 😿 🤦‍♂️

Krista loved meditation and yoga time with me. Most often, that meant I was getting my fingers licked in shivasana (relaxation pose.) 😹😻

Oh, you threw out your back? You're in company, of course. Does that happen a lot? My chiro taught me some great exercises to loosen it up and I added them to my workout. The best one is called "Cat and Camel" 🐈🐫
Looks like you had some excellent companionship there. PURRsonal trainer? 😺

Maybe once a year it seizes up like it did on Tuesday. When that happens, there isn't much to be done about it but ice and Advil. Or ice and Aleve this time because I think I used up all my Advil on running last summer. 🤦‍♂️ I think it seized because I'm as fat as I've ever been now. I'm going the wrong way with managing the cat weight. But I also haven't been exercising like I should be. It's less cat weight than election weight now. Hopefully having gotten past Wednesday, maybe I can rest easy again and start forming other before/after work habits besides watching the news.

I know cat and camel.

Give yourself a break. It may take awhile. And we are far from being out of the woods yet. Don't beat yourself up. Just try to be careful. My chiro said never to apply dry heat, BTW. Ice is good, though. And if you have one of those rice bags that you can nuke for 2 min., those can be really comforting. I have one, and it is. I also got myself a new brace. Because they really do work when it's excruciating and I HAVE to be up and moving.

OC is doing well. He’s looking rather robust. Much of it is the last of his kitten growth. But there is some evidence that he’s being fed very well by this community. I’m not trying to be a regular feeder of his. But he does occasionally catch up to me walking across the community. When he does, he follows me back to my unit like an orange shadow. I think he’d probably tear me up if I tried to enter my unit without him. So in he goes and up he goes. And while I’m emptying a can of fancy feast into his feeder, it gives me a chance to see how he’s doing. And to get him on the baby scale. He’s two lbs more than the last time I weighed him in October. He’s still very affectionate. I wish I could do more for him. But I’m just trying to get through this pandemic and California’s surge myself. He’s holding up well though. Please don’t pressure me or guilt me about not doing more. The city and the rescues are all reduced access, reduced services, and minimal help right now. He’s pretty lucky to have this community. All things considered. I hope we’ll get a better handle on the pandemic and the closures this year and perhaps I’ll even be able to walk him down to the shelter or a rescue when it’s less of an existential risk for everyone involved.

He's really looking good, prancing across your countertop! Two pounds! Excellent job, community! *Now if someone -- no, I'm not naming anyone or asking anyone -- would just snap up this handsome, excellent cat and adopt him!!!* Thank YOU for feeding him and giving him some loves.

And we’ve come to where she was introduced to all of you. In the hospital for not eating (broken tooth and tooth resorption) with off the charts liver and gallbladder numbers. 😿

This is the morning after her first night. I guess they gave her gabapentin for pain in her broken tooth and she had a nystagmus (eyes darting) reaction. 😿

Her iPod with her “cat rock” (Music For Cats). She gave this iPod a workout this stay.

No. But there’s hope and strength and courage and loyalty and trust in those and the ones to come over the next several days. For these reasons I cherish these photos and enjoy looking over them now. I get to see how much of a fighter and yet still a lover she was. So much trust and faith she had in me. 😻

Again? One year later and she ended up at the vet again for something or other. Probably liquid stools, weight loss, possibly loss of appetite. Her lymphoma was presenting. 😿

Here we have a boxed poop cat. She pooped her carrier at the vet’s office. I transferred her to a box for the drive home. Sadly we were practiced here by now. This is her at home moments before release. Probably into the bathroom first.

As difficult as it is for people to be in such frailty, it must be even harder for cats, with their fastidious, independent and strong nature.

In her final week, she stopped grooming. It was probably the bladder infection and dehydration that took her way faster than I ever imagined. But one thing I will always remember about this time is that the vet (or the vet techs) who examined and cared for her at her last couple of vet visits (at least the ones she would return from 😿), she came home with a clean nose. Someone took the time to clean up her food encrusted nose that she never let me help her with. It was a touching and caring gesture among such a sad time.

It seemed like for the first few days, each morning she looked worse than the last. But still had an indomitable attitude. Even if she wasn’t reacting to the boop or the scritches. I didn’t realize she had her feeding tube already. The head tilt is likely the ruptured eardrum. She had so much to get through during this time. 😿

Figured out why she had a feeding tube in some pictures but not in others yesterday. Those first few days I was visiting her twice a day. Feeding tube went in “yesterday” afternoon. I think she also had more dental work done yesterday to explain the drool ropes today.

There’s beauty in her toughness. This was my phone lock screen for awhile.
