Christmas Leftovers from 2018:

That time I tried feed her reindeer (venison) for Christmas. She was not impressed. Didn’t even try it. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Krista Test Kitchen: Boneless duck patty and beef liver recipe. She loved it. But the duck became prohibitively expensive when the “local” raw foods coop stopped carrying them. 🤦🏼‍♂️😿

Mr. Meow Mr. Meow is doing the best he can, you're doing the best you can, tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 is as well, --basically we're all, or certainly a lot of us are, in that same boat and at the end of the day, our best actually is pretty darn good.

I'm hoping for every single one of us that 2021 is less complicated, less stressful, less a lot of things. If my wishes don't happen, eh, well, I sure did try.

You can’t know this because everyone grieves differently. But I wish I could go back and edit those early posts. I wish I could say, “please don’t offer condolences anymore. Please don’t talk about end-of-life decisions or survivor guilt.” All of these serve to yank me back to a moment in time that I would like to forget.

The question of her cremains is a settled matter now. They came back to me in a beautiful cedar box. It was sealed somehow. It frustrated my early uncertain attempts to wrestle with her new (non-)existence. Her new form. But then the urge to open the box and see its contents faded with time. Now I see it like a Schrodinger’s box. She is both in there and not in there. And only by opening it would I collapse the possibilities into a single reality. But as long as it remains closed, well, that’s the closest I come to faith. 🙏 I can imagine anything other than a bag of ashes in there. And that brings me much more comfort.

Through pictures, digital and printed, videos, audio clips tied to shortcuts on my phone, this thread, and her Instagram, I’ve found ways to remain connected to her and to remember the love and joy. 😻

I have this as a photo tile. I’m waiting to make a few more before I create a photo wall in my home. I’m listening for the right ones out of thousands of pictures for the next ones to have made.

Beautiful!!!
IDK if you follow/ed Lil BUB, but her family chose to have some of her cremains launched via a weather ballooon. If you choose to, you can find a video on her site and see what that looked like. I can't find that link, but you can let me know if you want to view the video and I'll do a deeper search.

I believe this vet visit was, “help! She’s barely eating.” They took blood and scheduled her for a dental appointment. We would learn in several more days that she would need to be hospitalized for off-the-charts liver numbers. 😿

It's so tough, cats being obligate carnivores. She looked lovely, though. And LOVED.

The wall I had to erect to enjoy a burrito. 😋 It speaks to how polite (most of the time) she was that such a simple barrier did actually deter her. 😹

And 2019:

Her favorite time of day (besides meal time) was when I would finally lay down on the bed and she could lay down next to me. Or on me. 😻

Krista's Famous Burrito Wall. I'd know it anywhere.
*I see that roll there.*
Yeah. That's the best time of all, IMHO. I like to combine them because I take my dinner tray into the bedroom where my TV is and watch and eat at the same time. Most times, Baby Su will investigate, even though there's hardly ever anything she'd want on the tray and almost every time, there IS expensive, top-quality cat food on HER tray. Elvis usually patrols the house while I eat. He's not much into TV.

Such a wide-eyed, comfortable and drowsy beauty! Looks like a nice toy there, too!
It’s one of the cheetahs I had from an early job.

Longer story in this post:
Remembering Krista

(I used the upload date on my Google Drive since these were scanned from hard photos to find the post in this thread.)

My second real job was at a software company that was acquired by a larger software company. Technically, I joined the larger company but I joined the team and office of the former company. That company had a cheetah in its logo. When they were acquired, hundreds of trade show cheetahs became homeless. I brought home at least two shopping bags worth of cheetahs.

This was my original coalition of cheetahs.

Over the years, the cheetah coalition shrank because anyone who would comment on them, was invariably sent home with one. 😍

The cats loved them. This is Buddha. She was a roommate's cat in my first apartment.

And this must be Cotton.

And Cabbie with a bear.

I probably have no more than half a dozen left these days. There's two in Krista's trees and there are probably a couple more in the toy bins. NC will know the cheetahs like every other cat has. 😻
They're really cute! Love the pix of Buddha BigEars, Cotton, and Cabbie, too! And the van Gogh, of course ;) Nice place!

What a happy, smiling cutie! She looks very comfortable there on her rug. And let's check out this water! Is it better than what I have? I'm gonna try it!
She kept climbing up my nightstand and drinking from my water glass. 🤦🏼‍♂️ So I got her her own nightstand and her own water glass. 😻😹

It mostly worked. If she came around to mine again, I knew I got lax about changing hers out for fresh.

Cats are VERY discerning. Krista, even more so. :hearthrob: :kneading: :hearthrob:
I use filtered water. And I'm apparently not as discerning as her. Because I'll drink from my own glass for a second day if I didn't finish it. So I'm attempting to teach myself to get in the habit of changing my own water glass daily now in hopes that the behavior will carryover to NC's glass in the future. I honestly would rather change out a glass daily than have to clean a fountain weekly.

Yeah, they really like their water FRESH. Filtered is pretty flat to begin with, so on the second day it's probably unendurably insipid.

Looks like she didn’t like what I said to her. Maybe she heard that I would refer to her as “my old fur-ball and chain.” 😹😻
