Does heat symptoms get more aggregated in front of male cat? I have a male kitten who's 4.5 months but she seem to cry out more in front of him but he doesn't know what she's doing cause he just looks at her. He sometimes play with her and bite her neck but never go beyond that. He sometimes try to lick her bottom whwn she's in heat position which I interfere and stop. Does anyone know why he does this?

Male cats can father kittens from about 5 months of age, so he's probably got a pretty good idea of what's going on with her. Has he been neutered yet? I suggest you keep them apart until she's spayed because it would be so easy to have another whoops pregnancy at them moment.

I was worried too about it but I don't think I should worry as he clearly doesn't know what she's doing otherwise I think he would've already mated her. He's still a baby who loves to suckle soft cushions as if it was his mother so wouldn't worry about him.. I mean do cats lick each other's bottom when mating? If that was what it was then I should be more alert I have to keep them in one room as my mum don't allow cats outside my room

I have 8 year old male cats who still do that.

No, they don't lick each other's butts, but they do sniff each other's genitals. Really, I wouldn't risk it. He's approaching sexual maturity so he'll need to be neutered soon anyway. Sorry if you've already posted this, but do you have an appointment for her to be spayed?

Some vets will give you a small discount if you're taking two cats in to be fixed at the same time. It will save you a trip to the vets at least if you could get them both fixed.

I mean is there anyway I could discourage suckling? It doesn't really look good and it tears my cushion or makes it watery with his saliva 😖

I know I should get them spayed

Just out of curiosity, did your suckling cat ever took interest in female in heat with that habit? By that I mean was he ever mature enough to take interest in mating or did he remain kitten until his age?

I don't know if you should try to discourage it, as this is something cats do to comfort themselves. You could just buy him a fleecy blanket of his own.

I have a lot of cats. I do TNR and rescue and I keep the cats that aren't suitable for rehoming, so he's met a lot of female cats in heat. He was feral born, came to me at about 4 months of age with his litter mates. He was neutered when he was a little under 6 months of age but he is very closely bonded with one of my female cats that's a few month younger than him. Even though all my cats are fixed they do tend to pair up into closely bonded male/female couples. Some of the males will attempt to scruff and hump their "girlfriends", some of them don't.

So yes, he does show interest in this one female cat, but he didn't pay much attention to the last female I rescued who went through a heat cycle before I got her spayed.

Yes I've bought him a blanket of similar material which I found him suckling and he tend to go into suckle mode whenever he sees that blanket. But usually female cats just knead but this one suckle as well as kneading so not sure if it's just male that is more obsessed with this behavior than female ones
Also this kitten of mine, I dont know if it's because I have him too much attention as a baby he tend to want to remain kitten
When he saw this white kitten in heat position he was looking at her like 'what's wrong with her' and only tried to bite her as if he was playing
Whereas the white one seemed more eager to mate with him and started licking his arms and face and tail
But not sure what he did, but few hours ago when I was in my ro o m and they in the lounge, the white one suddenly darted into my room so startled and frightened that all of her hairs on body stood and when I looked around the male kitty was also in same shape with all his hair standing and puffed up tail down
What do you think would've taken place? Then after that white stopped being in heat? Do you think they could possibly have mated?

He probably at least made a try to mate. She probably protested and struck him.

Spay her as soon the heat is over, say try to get a time next week. And preferably neuter him too, as soon you can arrange it. Perhaps at the same occasion if you can get a group discount.

Some cats suckle all their lives, most knead soft things. It brings them comfort. Just keep a very soft little blanket around he can suckle on, then he will be happy. Remember, a male biting on the back of a female's neck means he is trying to mate with her. I would either keep them separated and if you can't, spay her as soon as she stops the 'mating' behavior. as for her laying position, cats sleep a lot, she is just resting. I don't think she is depressed, She is just recovering from all her past experiences. As soon as she gets rested and gets used to all this new stuff around her, she may get a little more active.

Some males are fertile as early as 4 months, be very careful. Most of them can't figure out what to do yet, but if she's experienced she may coach him through it. Best to separate them until she's spayed if at all possible.

She enjoyed playing with the toy yesterday

Didn't think she's active and playful type until she played with me with that toy
But you don't know what I've witnessed yesterday midnight, as I woke up to their noise I discovered my kitty mounting on the white cat! But he wasn't successful in mating as he was shorter than she was by an inch so.. my gosh I don't know what to do. He looked so puzzled while the white one was rolling around my bed for minutes
Have you ever seen shorter male mating female cat? I think it's impossible

It is possible. Male cats pretty quickly will learn to let go of the female cat's neck and move farther back. For now, you'll want to separate the two of them, and call the vet to see if you can make a spay appointment for her.

Please spay the female cat and neuter the male kitten ASAP! As you are already experiencing, it will not be long before he impregnates her.

:yeah:

You've basically got a horny teenage boy and a very willing slightly older girl together. You need to keep them separate and get them fixed this month.

Let us know what country/state/city you are in and we will help you find a low cost clinic. If you are on benefits or lower income you can often get discounts for spay and neuter surgery. Just let us know and we'll help you find a place.

Help guys
The white cat ran away this morning from my house😢
She got outside by opening the flyscreen when I wasn't paying attention
She usually came back when I lured her with pouch treat but this time I don't know if it's because I was wearing a glasses, she ran from me when I tried the same trick to get her
I searched all neighbourhood but couldn't find her
I had a glimpse of her just at the turn of a brick wall before she ran away again in the first 30mins of losing her then after that I didn't see any sign of her and it's been more than 3 hours now
Do you think she'd come back?
Are cats good with finding their way to their familiar place? Wh a t should I do to increase her chance of finding my place again?
I mean I don't know why she'd run away from me when I've been so good to her and she loved my place, followed me around the house and licked my hands until this very morning

She’s probably in heat and may return pregnant in a few days after she has mated.

I feel so worried about her though. What if she gets kidnapped or get injured? Also I don't think she can find her way back to my place as she hasn't been here for very long
Can cats survive in the wild for few days without provision of food and water? Our place is full of cars and units so I feel really worried shell not find her way back home. Also the weather's real cloudy these days it might rain any time and if it rains when she's outside without a shelter I feel like she'll get cold or flu

Guys the cat came back to me yesterday night! She came to my window and meowed in a very tired voice so I opened my window for her to come inside
Geez she was very worn out. I think she's been hiding until the sun set because she came in as soon as the sun was set and it was dark
But I want to ask do you think she might have mated? Because when before she went out she showed signs of heat, she's not showing any signs of heat since she came back
She seems more affectionate and her appetite seems increased too
Just want to know if cats can mate when sun is still out too or do they only mate at night?
I wish she's not pregnant so I can desex her but want to make sure she's not

Cats will mate at any time of day, and in all kinds of weird locations. Females in heat and unaltered males both have a very powerful desire to mate, and will use all of their creativity to figure out how to find each other and do it.
I wish she's not pregnant so I can desex her but want to make sure she's not
If she was in heat, got out, and came back a few days later, it's pretty likely (although not 100% sure) that she found someone to mate with and is pregnant.

If you do not want kittens, the easiest and most direct way to make sure she is not pregnant is to go ahead and spay her now.

If you aren't comfortable spaying her in early pregnancy, the most reliable method of pregnancy diagnosis is ultrasound at 21 days gestation.
