Oh, I forgot to ask-- how did the cats react to baby J?!!!
Sparkle keeps hissing at J while I'm babywearing what do I do? She seemed positive when J came in in the carseat and so I didn't expect this to suddenly start.

Lelia is keeping her distance and meowing to let me know something has changed in her routine.

Edit: she was 6lbs 14oz. Forgot to answer.

The hissing will stop. I agree it is the different scent that she is reacting to. It is the same thing that causes some cats to hiss when a cat comes home from the vet and they get along fine normally, the other cat smells different.

Lelia seemed a lot happier after I played with her last night. She's mostly ignoring J, but she slept on my legs and is doing great.

Sparkle has mostly retreated to the cat tree/room where I have feliway going. She didn't hiss but ran away when my husband tried to get her closer. I kind of expected it to go opposite with Sparkle and Lelia.

I'm letting them have access to the basement today as a treat.

M maggiedemi - here's a picture from yesterday of babywearing. Using the ring sling while she's so tiny, but I have another wrap and a structured carrier, too.

I kept my sling just in case I ever babysit. It was extra helpful when I had 2! Plus they just love to be snuggled up! One of my friends has an 11 & 13 year gap between her older kids and her surprise baby. Her 11 year old son was NOT excited about a new little sibling but especially a girl. He ended up baby wearing his new sister all the time! They are super close. Its adorable!

I’m glad Sparkle and Leila are settling in a bit. Hopefully before long they think Bebe is just another kitten. :hearthrob:

Sparkle has thrown up twice today. :bawling: I assume she must be pretty stressed. She won't let me pet her and is keeping to herself most of the time and she was fairly social, so it hurts.

And I keep crying today. I assume it's hormonal, but I'm just so overwhelmed as well. I've never been good with change.

J had a great visit with the pediatrician today, though. Everything looks good there, at least. And I'm making so much milk.

:hugs: Those hormones are a raw deal sometimes! I told off my dad when DD was 4 days old. He needed it; but still! They do last a bit but the intense part wasn’t too long for me. I cry easier since having kids. I think its natures way of helping us stay nurturing to our kids. I mean I got teary when I saw Santa riding on the next town overs firetruck for their neighborhood tour. We don’t even do Santa!! :lol2: I blame 2020. 🤪

It IS a big change though and your body has been through a lot! Be gentle with yourself. It takes time to heal and get comfortable in your new role. Parenting is an always growing process but the cool part is we grow with our kids. Add in sleep deprivation and yep that’s another level of challenge.

We are here to listen too! I’m sure there are several of us who are a PM away too!

Yap, you hit the nail on the head with sleep deprivation. :agree: Usually breastfed babies don't sleep as long and you have to nurse more often which means you get less sleep. For that reason they tell you to sleep when your baby is asleep. But there are so many things you want to do and can only get them done when the baby is sleeping so it's a catch 22.

And yes again, we are always here to listen and give our support. :grouphug:

Thanks. I may need to take people up on that. I did read there's a big hormone drop with the milk coming in, so I'm sure that's a large part of it, and the lack of sleep isn't helping.

Awww, it's understandable that you would feel overwhelmed. It's overwhelming just being a cat mom. Does the babywearing make you feel more peaceful? It looks peaceful. :hugs:
It's nice having her close to me, but I'm worried about her being properly supported in the sling, still, so peaceful isn't the right word yet.

Does your sling have videos? That’s how I learned to use mine. It felt like it was holding him in the same position my arms would except my arm was free.
I think so. I tested it out and red the manual pre baby and I've been doing it on memory, so I need to refresh.
