I must have bought her half a dozen fountains. The only thing she would drink out of reliably was the toilet (I didn’t let her unless I forgot to put the lid down) or my water glass. She would climb up to the nightstand and drink from my glass! 🤦🏼‍♂️😻 So I got her her own nightstand and her own glass. 😹
Well, of course! It goes without saying. We are our cats' servants, after all, and it is up to us to grant their every wish.

December 23, 2019: (yes, more!)

Looks like I made either a batch of turkey or a batch of rabbit. I think that’s turkey. Rabbit ground a little pinker even with the liver and kidneys in the grind. Take note of the bins to keep my furry foreman out of the workspace. 😹😻 Also take note of just how messy this endeavor was. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Well, but Krista was well worth it!!!
The saddest part about her chemo was that I couldn’t find a good answer about whether I could keep feeding her homemade raw rabbit. I wish I could have felt more confident about it. But none of her vets liked raw and they were advising against it while she was on immune suppressing drugs. Sad! Because she really enjoyed it. I would have kept making batches for her at $75/lbs (2 whole fryer rabbits for 1 lbs of leg meat 🤦🏼‍♂️) if I thought she could handle it. 😿 Turkey was cheaper. And I would have liked to try turkey with her again after we reached remission. But we just never got that chance. 😿

December 24, 2019:

Every year for about a decade I’ve stayed in a local hotel room for Christmas Eve. Usually I’ll pick up some take out and a Christmas themed stout. Then I’ll watch the Christmas classics: Die Hard and Gremlins. 😹

Since Krista was eating every few hours last year (her lymphoma was already robbing her of calories and while she looks good here, she’s already losing weight), I decided to bring Krista with me on my Christmas Eve staycation. Besides, she already stayed with me at a hotel three other times that autumn (once to evacuate the apartment to spray for fleas and twice more for her dental procedure and follow up.) She traveled so well. This would be our last trip together. 😿

I have many photos from this trip. So I’ll share them over several posts.

Here’s her “diaper bag”. Feeders, hand wet vac, wipes, pee pads, poop bags, enzyme cleaners, rags, and more.

Didn’t take more than a minute for her to get comfortable. I brought her a step. She never used it. 🤦🏼‍♂️

I also brought a Dyson for clean air and quiet heat. 👍 And her favorite wire face rub toy. 😻

She looks very happy and comfortable there -- and these pics would be good in an ad for the hotel, too!

Yelp review:
Room was warm and well furnished. Bed was comfortable. Kitchen was functional. Did not expect the cat surprise above the fridge though.

This happens when you have cats in your life, I've found.View attachment 363497

I purposely cluttered the top of the fridge at home to prevent this. But I think I’m going to clean it up as well as the gap between the cabinets and the ceiling before NC. I think I might enjoy a ceiling cat once more. 😹

They are nice, aren't they? Especially if they're black. Just sayin'.

I loved having a black cat. I loved having a tortie. Some of my favorite Instagram cats are munchkins. I want a shorty tortie!

Black and tortoiseshell cats are my favorites, aesthetically (although I love ALL cats, of course, and don't make choices based on anything except that the cat needs a loving permanent home).

More from last year:

Krista was not impressed with my Christmas Eve dinner selection. Neither was I. This Panda was too slow. The food was too old. 🙊 Luckily I would make it to a burger place down the street just in time to get a cod sandwich and fries. And a beer from the tap room/bottle shop to take back to the hotel. For Krista of course. That lush! 😹

Not impressed with the Panda places. I don't believe for a minute that Krista was a lush. However, I think she may have wanted to co-opt the cod. *Oh, cod!*

I like Panda for their honey walnut shrimp and their veggie spring rolls. It’s better to eat at Panda than starve at Whole Foods. It is (it was) a go-to when I didn’t much feel like anything else. And I figured it stood a better chance than most to still be open after 6 pm on Christmas Eve. No doubt Krista would have pawed for the cod. That’s why I dined in. Such a quaint concept! She wasn’t a beer lush. But she did like to hit the ‘nip.

That thing that looks like a turd or a hairball on the laminate is a nip mouse. 😻 And it also hurt like heck when stepped on! 🤦🏼‍♂️ It was more like a compressed nip nugget than a leaf filled stuffy.

‘‘Twas the night before Christmas
When all through the house
Not a creature was stirring,
Except the cat on the fridge! 😹😻

It just isn’t a hotel stay until Krista summits the highest point of the room. 😹😻 Sadly the cabinets went right up to the ceiling in this room. 🤦🏼‍♂️😿

Well, you being you, I knew it wasn't 💩or a trichobezoar. 🤢 *Nice rug, btw. Looks like it passed the toughest approval of all.*
Yeah, the 'nip! Did she ever try silvervine? I hope NC does. It's like 'nip x 1,000. Elvis turns into a ravening puddle of ridiculous on it.
I love veggie spring rolls. Used to live close to a Vietnamese Buddhist restaurant and they had "shrimp" spring rolls. They were amazing. Also, clay pot "fish"--yum! Buddhist places are the best for veggie "meat" and "poultry" and "fish" dishes. A favorite Chinese Buddhist place had "Golden 'Salmon'" that was so close to the real, my angel Rani used to yell for it when I brought it home. She loved it.
Merry Christmas, from one non-Christian to another 🎄
