At this point I’ve got a column on my Christmas spreadsheet to mark off when things arrive! It’ll be easier to keep track when my kid’s stuff all gets here. That’s the bulk of the work. I’ve just been afraid I’d not notice a missing order or item without it. Especially since I’ve browsed for the same items from several retailers.

Buy Buy Baby is going to be sending me so many packages. I got three emails today the first one saying part of my order was shipping (three items) and then two more emails about shipping with one item each in them. I guess it's better than making me wait until everything is in, but it is trickier to keep track.

Our Amazon registry order has been coming in in bits and pieces, too.

Nice! That one looks very classy. I got one like this but in blue:

It worked great but I didn't screw it in, just used sticky tape, and it fell off. So I have to get a stud finder and actually screw it in.

I shop on Amazon but not nearly as much as I used to. They have a massive problem with counterfeit items that continues to get worse. It does NOT matter whether you buy "sold and shipped by Amazon" or by a 3rd party because Amazon commingles (puts all items with the same barcode together) items from 3rd parties and Amazon items. Thankfully most of the fake items I've received have not been important whether they were legitimate (my most recent fake item was a board game, who fakes board games?! lol) but it's still very frustrating to order something at full price and receive a knockoff.

Don't get me started on their fake review problem. They "fixed" it by not allowing companies to give coupons in exchange for free items but now they just give people a "rebate" in the form of cash via PayPal after they write a review.

Also, they screw over USPS. They got a sweetheart deal with USPS where they pay just above what it costs. My husband is a mail carrier and I see how Amazon throws around its weight all the time. Carriers have to make extra trips to deliver Amazon packages, they work on Sundays and holidays now because of Amazon, etc. All the while Amazon's drivers show up late and then the blame gets pushed on USPS when packages aren't delivered on time per Amazon's ridiculous standards.

I've tried to buy on eBay so I can support small businesses there but many of them just dropship from Amazon which is against both eBay's and Amazon's terms of service. It's infuriating. I just went back to buying on Amazon unless I can get it at an alternative store for less than 10% more.

I buy many things from them, the few problems I've had are people stealing my items after they've
been delivered. Amazon has always credited my account even though it wasn't their fault and I
like their Sunday deliveries.

I buy so much from Amazon. I have had one scam order— refunded money, one bad item, which I complained about, getting a replacement.

There is a distribution center in my city. Easy and fast delivery.

One way to avoid stolen packages is to use Amazon Locker if there is a location near you or have the package delivered to your workplace (if allowed) or to a trusted neighbor's or friend's house where there is a secure location for package delivery or the person is home to take the package. If no such option exists for someone, then yeah it sucks when thieves take package off the doorstep or mailbox :angrywoman:

You would think they wouldn't do so much anymore with all those camera 'doorbells' and security cameras. They are REALLY dumb and I hope every one of them gets arrested. But I guess the few cops we have left are too busy......I can't believe they don't get shot more often!

I'm certain the neighbor who shares the duplex was the culprit. She moved in the middle of April and it started
then Three were delivered from Amazon and one from UPS. I guess I could have them delivered to Nicole's..

Fellow neighbors are often the thieves:bat: I live in a building and a few years ago there was a rash of stolen packages from Sephora. There's no cameras so no one was 100% sure who was stealing Sephora packages (it was always Sephora packages) but most people felt that it was other residents. That has since stopped. Secure locker type things were discussed at one point but management and the Board decided that it wasn't feasible for various reasons.

If you have Amazon prime you can have most packages delivered to secure mailboxes that are in some retail stores. It’s a safer way to go than home delivery

Another dizzying thing about Amazon. I posted on the “What on my Mind” board that I had a mysterious package I didn’t order coming from Walmart via Fed Ex. Turns out it is an item that I ordered off of Amazon a few days earlier. When I received the Fed Ex notice there was a package coming, Amazon still showed my order as not having been shipped. Today they sent me a shipped notice with the same Fed Ex number as my mystery package.

I wonder whether it has anything to do with SARS-CoV-2 and carriers not being able to keep up with the volume of packages? We've had a couple of surprises like that over the past few months, not just with Amazon packages. Yesterday we got a dispatch advice from Amazon saying our package would be delivered by DHL tomorrow (Saturday). This morning we got a notice from DHL saying they would deliver it after 3 p.m. today. It reached us by a big DHL competitor at 2 p.m.. The numbers match. :dunno:

ETA: According to our evening news, by the end of November, German carriers had transported 20% more packages than in all of 2019. This year online sales are going to be incredible with all the lockdowns/stay-at-home orders and people finding crowded stores too risky.

Amazon is hiring more drivers, naturally.

I ordered something last week, with (not Prime) guaranteed delivery by tomorrow. It took forever to be shipped, and the delivery date on the Canada Post website said Monday, so I was pleasantly surprised when it was delivered today.

I am going to order some Sees candy as a Christmas present to myself. On the See's website the candy I wanted was $28.50 a pound. On Amazon the same candy was $52.50 a pound. I thought
Amazon was suppose to have the best prices.
