Hi ct970, I have been following this thread for sometime. I am so happy that thanks to you your adorable kitten has known the joy of a loving home away from a cage in a doubtful shelter. He is an adorable little fellow. Whatever the outcome he couln't be in better hands. :redheartpump:

Sounds like FIP to me. I battled dry FIP for 7 months a few years ago with my Himalayan kitten. Intermittent fevers, not wanting to eat, not grooming himself. It turned wet and his belly swelled. I had to put him down within a few days after that because he got so bad. Sorry about your kitty. FIP is such a horrible disease.
I am so sorry that you had to go through that as well! It truly is a horrible disease and I hope that there will be an affordable and regulated treatment available soon! Thank you, just going to enjoy him while we still can :)

I'm so happy he has you! I agree with you, there comes a time when you have done what you can, and now you have to pray for the best. Just love him as long as you are able, I will pray for a miracle for that sweet boy, he is a fighter and deserves what happiness and good health he can get. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.......
Thank you! I am glad to have him as well. And your words are exactly my thoughts! I appreciate the thoughts & prayers <3, he truly is a fighter no matter what happens I can at least say that much!

Awh, thanks for following along this bumpy journey! Thank you for the kind words, I am so glad we were able to save him and take him away from the shelter and provide him with a loving home as long as we can. He is such a sweetheart too, thank you so much! <3

Hey everyone, just to update you guys Loki was officially diagnosed w/ Wet FIP on 12/2. Vet said there was a lot of fluid build up in the abdomen, based on his age, clinical presentation and history of symptoms the chances of this being anything other than FIP would be less than 5%. Vet did not recommend euthanasia at this point, said he seems to be in good spirits and is not acting like he is in pain yet. Once he appears to be in pain or exhibits any signs of uncomfortableness we will bring him in and let him go. Although I am heartbroken beyond belief at this outcome, I am so grateful for the time we got together and that I was able to provide him with a home full of love and care for the time he was here. Although he should have gotten many more years on this earth, I fully believe everything happens for a reason and I believe I was meant to know and love him for his short life. I will cherish all the sweet memories I had with him when the time comes and know that I did everything I could to help him.

I'm so sorry to read that. FIP is such a horrible, cruel illness. Despite the sorrow ahead for you, it sounds like Loki could not have been adopted by a better person to love and care for him during his much too short life. Hugs to you. 🤗🤗🤗
And vibes that Loki stays happy and healthy for as long as possible. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

ct970 ct970 - I just don't know any words for some things, this being one of them, so just :hugs:

I know you spoke about the new treatments earlier on and how unaffordable they would be - there are a couple of folks here who are 'crowdfunding' for treatment costs and have threads in the Cats S.O.S. forum, Yen and Felix. Not everyone has the strength, energy and social supports to pull those off successfully, though. We do our best with what we've been given.

Thinking of you both :redheartpump:

just another update, the last one I will make on Loki. He will be likely be going to the vet tomorrow to be euthanized. He has declined rapidly despite being put on a steroid and his quality of life just isn't there anymore like it used to be. I have been spending a lot of time with him loving him and telling how much of a pleasure it was to get to know him and love him in his short time with us. Thank you all for the continued support and prayers through this difficult time, we will get through it in time and welcome another kitten (or kittens in our life) to ease the pain.

Yes, the decline occurs rapidly when it is wet FIP. It is very sad, but you have given him all the love and comfort that any kitten could ever want. Humane euthanasia will end his suffering, and you will have done right by him.

:vibes: I wish blessings on you both, and feel free to post about Loki in our “Crossing the Bridge” forum when you feel the time is right. Each and every kitten and cat is special and they leave imprints on our hearts. :redheartpump:

Thank you all for your kind words and condolences, he went in and crossed the rainbow bridge around 8:30 am. He will be greatly missed but I am at peace knowing he is free of pain and no longer suffering. We will forever cherish his memory, he will never be forgotten.

I'm so sorry to hear this ct970 ct970

I'll lock this thread now, as a sign of respect. I see you've started a thread in Loki's memory, so I'll include a link here so others can offer their condolences.

Lost my FIP Kitten

Rest In Peace Loki
