Pine pellets went bye bye. They just wouldn't use it. It's fine. Best to find this out when there isn't a problem than when there is and I need a quick solution.

That's too bad. Maybe it's really hard when they are already used to one type of litter. The feel and texture of pellets are so different than sands. I hope you find alternatives though.

Oh, I have no issue with what I am using. Just wanted to try something different. It would be nice with less tracking in the floor but it's not so bad that it is a problem. A quick sweep of the tiles or a pass or two with the hand vac on the carpet.

I wanted to mention that my cat loves pine pellets. Her preffered is from Tractor Supply Company, as is ours. Theirs seems like better quality pine all around anytime we have tried others. She has done well with others when needed, but that brand you tried, we got once and trashed, she absolutely hated it.

Clay is a very different texture so they may never like it, but if you ever try it again, I highly recommend one from TSC or anything but the one you already tried.

p.s. I sift box once a day, scoop throughout, and it's usually good until the Sunday that I always change it out fresh on. Could keep going if I wanted but don't need to. Our 20 lb bag lasts awhile!

Found a litter that Boone and Gracie will use that is better than clay. It's Swheat Scoop. Best part... it's flushable so no more turds in the bathroom trash can. :woohoo:

Congrats!
I kept seeing this on Instagram and I was looking for a flushable litter so I reached out to them to see if it was safe for houses with septic tanks. It is. Only downside is with a septic, you need to let the waste sit in the toilet for a few minutes to break down before flushing. It is still better than turds in the trash though.

So I use pellets, and was using the purina pellets which is fine and pricy. And I recently switched to the tsc pine pellets, which has been fine and economical. My cat uses either brand without protest (🤞🤞🤞) but I didn’t know about sifting? What is this and why are you all doing it? I haven’t noticed any dust or pine debris or anything to be sifting. So confused. Maybe I haven’t been using the pine pellets long enough to experience the need?

When the pellets got wet, they crumble into sawdust, so what we are doing is basically the reverse of of clumping clay or similar products. Instead of getting rid of the solids, you get rid of the dusty bit. We do this by just pouring all the content of the litter into sifting bin, and shake it for few moments. All the sawdust gonna fall trough the hole, and the intact pellets goes back into the litter box.

ohhh is thought that was diarrhea! lol, I'm such a newb. Okay that makes me feel a lot better now! doesn't sound like theres a hard fast rule for frequency but once a day every day is def too much time commitment for me. guess I'll just feel it out to see when's best... thanks y'all! though that wheat scope litter klunick klunick mention sounds pretty sweet - maybe I'll try it out.

I have never used clumping litter so this is all new to me. The clumps hold up really well when scooping. I do have to say the poop resembles breaded chicken before cooked. 🤣
