The plan was to make black bean veggie burgers for dinner tonight, but the can I grabbed (and opened) was red kidney beans, so I ended up making red kidney bean veggie burgers. Not as good as black bean, but ok.

Can you cook the Gardein turkey in a microwave? I might try that for Christmas.
The cooking directions say to save time you can microwave it at first, but then finish heating it in the oven. I think the oven is required to make the crumb coating crispy. Would you be able to get a toaster oven?

They also have single-serve cups so if you're afraid a big tub will go bad before you eat all of it, ask him to get you a pack of the single-serves.
I always get the single serve cups, as I don't eat hummus enough to ever finish off a big tub before it went bad.

Aldi calls it California French, Ken's calls it Country French. You'll notice it on the shelf cause it's red!
Went to the grocery store today, and forgot the look for red French dressing. Next time...

Gah! I hate Triscuits. Worst cracker ever.
And, I love Triscuits. :)

Tilapia fillets drizzled with olive oil, sprinkle with fresh bread crumbs, a tiny bit more EVOO, then broiled until fish was done and bread crumbs brown. Lacinato kale again but this time I ripped it into smaller pieces rather than ripping out midrib as I did last night - it was better. More Adirondack Blue potato -boiled, mashed, added some flour and a well beaten small egg. Patties browned in cast iron frying pan with a little oil. Also better than just mashed potatoes.

Now that I'm not adding salt and butter to so many dishes I need to find ways to work around so food still tastes delicious.

Triscuits is just flaky cardboard :barf::barfgreen: I don't like Mini Wheats or other similar shredded cereal, even with a frosting coating, either for the same reason. It's a texture thing for me.

Well I still have enough leftover grain bowl for another meal 😮 For the price of the grain bow, I can get 3 meals out of it which is pretty good. I'll save the leftovers for Monday lunch. Tomorrow I'm going to make my holiday dinner early because I'm working on Thursday and will not have the energy to cook.

Yes! I was just gonna type that Triscuits taste like Mini Wheats cereal! Like a plain, dense piece of flaky cardboard. Blech!

Went to the grocery
store today, and forgot the look for red French dressing.

Maggiedemi: I like both Triscuits and Wheat Thins. They have been my favorite crackers ever since they came out with them back around 1971. Right now I am eating Wheat Thins with Cheez Whiz.

Neely: Vegetables would be good with hummas. I sometimes get carrot and celery sticks with my dinner. I ate hummus almost every day for years and I got very tired of it. It is only now that I am willing to try it again because I need the protein.

ARTIEMOM: Thanks for the information. We don't have any TJ's around hear but I will try the Cedars brand if I can find it. Being vegetarian I would love to have a TJ's or a Whole Foods in the area.

WILLOWY: I will ask my brother to get the single-serve packs of hummus. The last couple times I brough a tub of hummus they went moldey on me before I could finish them.
I do like the roasted red pepper hummus.. it is good.

muffy muffy : just reposting this, in case you missed it. About the Gardein Stuffed Turk'y, btw.

Sometimes I'll make a lunch out of hummus, carrot and celery sticks, and ... Triscuits. :)

Yes, I did miss your post about the Gardain Stuffed Turkey. I don't have any way to get hold of a toaster oven. There is a kitchen with an oven but I would have to get permission to use it as they have the room blocked off. It is too much hassle and I don't like drawing attention to myself.

I am with you. I love Triscuits, especially with soup and dips.

That settles it. I'm gonna have to get some Cheez Whiz. I haven't had it in like 30 years! I asked Dad if he wanted to try some, but he said it's more expensive than other cheese sauces. I'll go check the price at Walmart, it can't be that expensive!

Apparently other people lack a fondness for Triscuits.
I remember the first time I tried one. I was expecting a regular crunchy thin cracker taste. But it was was this thick shredded wheat nonsense. I was like- What the heck is this?! This ain't no cracker! But maybe I would like them dunked in something like soup.

LOL. Cheez Whiz must be some comfort food we're remembering from our childhood, as I hadn't had it in years and years either, until recently. It's not that expensive, and goes on sale often around here.

Or hummus.

I'm having another of my red kidney bean veggie burgers tonight. I've got a tomato, so I'll put a couple slices on top. Probably a couple clementines for dessert.

I brought the Cheez Whiz because I saw someone mention it here. I have not had it in years. I didn't like it that much and I don't think I will buy it agaìn. I think I will try a cheese ball. At least it is real cheese.

Tonight I had broccoli, squash and white beans with tomato. It was pretty good and at least I got a little protein.

I had my early Thanksgiving Day dinner, Skillet Chicken with Cranberries. It was easy to make and really good. The only change I would make next time is to double the cranberry sauce part. There was hardly enough for 4 pieces of chicken thighs. Or maybe I just like extra sauce to go with meat  I made some boxed stuffing mix to go with it.

I don't like it either. DD loves it. I like real cheese. It's not the worst though. That would be Velveeta which is an abomination. DD loves that too. She must have inherited those taste buds from DH.
