Quick wipe down of the bathrooms with more thorough cleaning of the toilets. I know the damage my husband and youngest do on the toilets during the week. 😲

Finish washing bedding. Got all but one done yesterday.

Depending on how brave I am feeling, I might go with the husband to get the shingles shot. My mom had it twice and it was terrible. But I really really hate needles.

Himself must be feeling better. He has more of an appetite now, having a whole bagel in the morning rather than just a half. And no leftovers from dinner the last couple of days. I feel encouraged!

The farm stand had no apple cider donuts yesterday. Apparently they come in on Saturday and Wednesday. No Way am I going there the weekend before Thanksgiving and especially not the day before Thanksgiving. So I need to decide on a recipe to bake today, an apple something - muffins? - before our afternoon cider break.

Laundry swishing around, first of two loads.

Some greenhouse plants need watered, and a accidental begonia cutting (I didn't mean to break it off) has rooted and need potted up. I lost the label but think it is Begonia dichotoma. I used to have B. convolvulaceae, a climbing begonia. Would sure like to find it again. Maybe in the spring.

Bake something apple.

My occasional helper got everything raked so most of the leaves are gone but the grass is taller than it should be and somewhat flopped over. Yesterday I mowed from and side lawns, today I want to mow the back lawn. Then in a week or so - before the snow arrives - I'll mow again, set a little lower.

Oh well. Coffee finished. Needs must evict Domino from my lap, go make our bed, hand wash yesterday's compression stockings, and get today's to-do in gear.

I had the first dose of shingles vaccine, in the beginning of the month. I did get a rash, felt feverish for 2 days. Arm hurt also

But, I had shingles, around 6 years ago. Perhaps that is why I had the reaction. My friend did not have any reaction to the first shot. The second one was really bad for her.

The next installment is due in January. I specifically asked if it would interfere with the Covid vaccine. I was assured it would not. TheCovid Vaccine is dealing with mRNA. The shingles vaccine is a LIVE virus.
Fingers crossed 🤞

strider rose strider rose Was the stranger expeced?

Regular stuff

do a bit of laundry

my foot is slowly healing from the cut. I wish it was not on the bottom of my foot, the leg would've been better, ha!
It will feel ok, than it acts acts up and I prop it up. I should've had stitches but it's too late now.

Supposed to have rain all day, so I'll snuggle with Cal, read and watch movies.

At 10:00 a.m. tried to join a garden club Zoom meeting this morning. Turns out it was yesterday. Oh well.

Need to put preps away - Costco's four pack of 2 pound boxes of spaghetti (finally back in stock!), chocolate chips for cookies, oatmeal, box of Oxy-clean, and more. Then enter everything in the Excel spread sheet. And look it over to be sure consumed items were so noted.

And the usual every day minor to-do items that collectively take up so much time - feed cats, feed us,scoop litter box, laundry - if any, and so on.

artiemom artiemom Did everything go OK yesterday with your power being off? I had the shingles shots with no ill effects, other than a sore arm at the injection site. I had a bad time with the flu shot, though; was not pretty.
C catapault I have an Excel spreadsheet for stuff in the freezers. It's a hassle to use, but is important to keep track. What did you bake that was apple?

Not much on my agenda today. It's cloudy and gloomy and downright chilly. Rain coming later on. A good day to stay inside.
We never did watch The Mandalorian last night; Rick wanted to watch football. I was out in the shed, watching The X-Files until around 10:00 or so, then came back inside.
  • My turn to snuggle with Molli. Muffin joined the party, too, this morning. Rick said she was very insistent on coming to bed, so he opened the door and she came in. The three of us snuggled for a while (with glares coming from both girls toward each other). Then we all got up, the girls had their after-breakfast breakfast and I had my coffee.
  • While I was back here, drinking my coffee, Muffin started yelling at the front door. That's my cue that she really needs to go for a walk. I've created quite the monster with taking her outside. Since it's gotten colder, I wrap her in a blankie before we go out. And she knows it. When I picked her blankie up from the chair, she got all excited and started yelling. Rick looked at us and said she was really spoiled. D'ya think?! So Muffin and I went outside for a nice walk. She was purring the entire time, checking out the trees and such. I wonder what the neighbors think when they see Muffin all wrapped up in her pink blankie and us walking around. They know I'm a few marbles short of a full set when it comes to the cats.
  • I need to scoop boxes.
  • I'm hoping we can watch The Mandalorian tonight.

Winchester Winchester I made a half batch=six apple muffins which had chopped apple in the batter and an apple slice on top. Of course I'm unable to try a recipe as written so instead of all flour I used 2/3 flour with 1/3 cornmeal. And rather than sprinkling with sugar and cinnamon I used streusel that I have on hand. They were kind of bland. Still warm from the oven. But bland. So for this afternoon I'm thinking of cutting two muffins in half, top to bottom, toasting, then some Smart Balance. See if that perks them up.

If I bake them again maybe I'd toss the chopped apple with sugar and cinnamon before adding to batter. What do you think?

Here's what I did to improve a muffin - cut in half, toaster oven, Smart Balance - And Then - sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Himself said it was good, better than yesterday. I had a late lunch and was not hungry so just had some cider.

Something else you could do, C catapault . Pour half the batter into your muffin cups. Spoon in a bit of streusel topping. Then pour the rest of the batter in over the topping. Finish with more topping. An old Betty Crocker recipe that I've used forever suggests pouring half the batter into the muffin cups. Spoon in a bit of strawberry preserves (jam or jelly is too thin) and then pour the rest of the batter over the preserves. I wonder if you could do the same with some kind of apple preserves with your apple muffin batter. I always add lots of cinnamon to my streusel and, sometimes, a bit of nutmeg, too.

Rick got up with the girls again this morning. Molli finished her breakfast and came back to bed with me, followed by Muffin about 30 minutes later. I'm enjoying my coffee now.
  • We're going to do a bit of shopping this morning; we were going to go last week and never did. Rick wants a few things at Boscov's, a local department store. I need some oranges to make mom's cranberry relish; people called me over the weekend, wondering if I was making some.
  • A quick vacuum throughout the house this afternoon. (Nothing going on outside, at least not that I know of. It's really, really windy and our high today was at 5:00 this morning, so we're all downhill from there.)
  • A walk outside with Mistress Muffin. It's windy, but she doesn't seem to mind the wind. Her paws work the entire time we're out and she purrs and purrs. (We had Ms. Pepe, we have Miss Amber, so we have Mistress Muffin.)
  • One load of laundry to be done at some point this afternoon.
  • About halfway through season 5 of the X-Files. Rick watched football again last night, so we didn't watch The Mandalorian. I went out to the shed and watched tv out there.

Winchester Winchester The power outage went really well.. Out at 9:20am, back at 2:35pm..
We were all prepared for it, so it could not have gone smoother, on our end.
I had my battery powered old Sony Boombox~~ remember those?? and a couple of small camp lanterns--battery powered.. I was all set..

Good thing I took a shower, early.. the hot water was only tepid.. I did go out, for a couple of hours. I also picked up a Margherita pizza. It was so so... kind fo undecided about this new Italian restaurant. They use a different cheese.. The regular pizza is good. I do like their sauce.. they make the crust by hand. I think it is the cheese that is a not what I am used to.
When you grew up in primarily an Italian neighborhood, with pizza places everywhere, you become a connoisseur of pizza! Have yet to find one place, I really call great... oh well, searching for the perfect pizza of my youth....ha

Today:
*change bed linens..
*do a good pick up around here-- yesterday was a 'nothing' day..
*Decide what I want for supper.. I have one slice of pizza left... debating.. I did not order anything from the menu

It is a very windy, rainy day today.. downpours.. It is dark and gloomy outside. The temps will be slowly dropping all day.. I hate to go out in this weather.. All I need are some perishables. And a quick trip to TJ...
I want to see what they have for dessert... I feel as if I need something small.. nothing elaborate.. And I need some Green beans, grapes, blueberries and a few other things. If I go to the grocery store, I will go early... but...
Tomorrow will be the da for the outings.. It is a bit too early, for me, to pick up perishables for Thursday...

Up before the sun and out the door before that too, in pouring rain. A total of about six hours at the hospital and on our way back home with blue sky and puffy white clouds. Both actually and metaphorically. Cardiac catheterization showed that Himself has three clogged arteries. Two are not at a point where they do anything. The third is severely blocked and he will need a stent. Not bypass surgery. We'll see his cardiologist next Monday and take it from there. It will be done at a different hospital about an hour further away from home.

Got home. He settled down for a nap. I went to pharmacy to pick up a prescription that had run out, did a couple of minor things in the garden, then I took a nap too.

We've had dinner. I need to make the bed - would you believe I managed to strip the bed, wash the sheets and toss them in the dryer before we left? Now that I think about it, I don't believe it either.

C catapault , I'm hoping things go well for Himself.

Didn't get much done yesterday that I wanted to. Got home from doing a bit of shopping and Rick flopped down on the couch for an afternoon nap. I knew I couldn't vacuum, so I went out to the shed for a while. Watched an X-File episode, then perused a new cookbook. I found Planet Barbecue! (Steven Raichlen) at a store for $4.99, with a 15% off coupon, which took the price down further. What was I supposed to do, leave the book there? I don't think so! It's interesting and I know I can convert some of the recipes over to the NFG.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my coffee.
  • We're going to the Verizon store this morning (I think). The iPhone 12 has been calling to me and I want to just look at it. I have a Samsung Galaxy 9+ that I'm not really happy with. But I'm just looking to see what kind of a deal I can get. Since I'm no longer working, I will lose my discount if I change phones and I'm not sure I want to lose it. Rick has an iPhone X that he really likes. I don't know that I want to be an Apple person, although I do have my iPad, which I love, and my iPod.
  • Must make my cranberry relish today (should have made it this past weekend, but no oranges. Mom would not be amused; she always made it the weekend before Thanksgiving, so the flavors had time to "mingle".) Our son called me last night; normally I share with him, too, but the pandemic has changed things. He made his over the weekend.

*Up really early to finish shopping, before T day
*Played with Geoffrey, we had breakfast, and I showered
*Out of the house by 7:10am
* Three stops: Grocery store, Rite-Aid, and Trader Joes
*Home by 9:55am
*Things put away by 10:25am

Now sitting here with my second cup of coffee and a couple slices of TJ's Sourdough bread with butter.. man, is it good stuff. Delicious..

It is going to be a late day.. I need to do my regular morning stuff.

It was zip-zip around.. OMGosh, the grocery store was ridiculous!! Seriously.. They open at 7am for senior hours.. The traffic was crazed...

Trader Joes opens at 9am for senior hours. They were 5 minutes late this morning. It was cold and windy outside. I froze. I was the third one in line, waiting.. When I looked behind me, just before 9am, there were 20 people in line!! OMG... It was mobbed also..

Finished up my Christmas shopping!!! I got a couple of things from TJ's for a friend's husband.. and a couple boxes of their Chocolate mint stars: one for me, and one for whomever....... as a just in case gift....

Well, we got home from Verizon. I caved. An Apple 12 ProMax in Pacific Blue will be delivered to the house on Dec 11. Got there and I really had to play it because they didn't want to deal. I kept at it and kept it.....loyal customer forever and ever, not happy with the Samsung, etc. etc. etc. We finally came to a deal. And when Rick, who was sitting there listening to the back-and-forth the whole time and keeping quiet, and I left Verizon, he said to me, "OK. I want an iPhone 12 and you're going to dicker for me!"

I LOVE those things! I can’t stop eating them.

Rounded up all of the recycling, scooped boxes, gathered up all of the trash and carted everything out for trash/recycling pickup...while my husband sat in front of the fireplace and read the paper. (Hellooooo. Some help here?:angrywoman:) One of the litter boxes was a real pain to clean. I have three, but Lily will use only one of them so I try hard to scoop it the minute one of the others uses it because Lily is picky. Mocha used it, did her usual thing of scratching, scratching, scratching until a section of the bottom of the box was completely clear of litter. I waited too long, and Lily slipped in there, squatted right over the no-litter part, and peed approximately one gallon. :sigh:

Walked two-and-a-half miles. Had a couple of nice, socially distanced chats with neighbors on my route. When it gets chilly, it’s mainly the dog folks walking with their canine friends. We’re all eager to chat since our interactions are so infrequent now...and outside only.

It’s brownie-making day. Must. Have. Brownies. :yummy:
