Looks like it starts at $10.47.
Wow, food is getting so expensive. I remember in the 90s when I never paid over $5 for a meal. Now omelets are $10!
I can still find meals for $5 sometimes, but they are usually a sammich, half a sub, or slice of pizza.

blue potatoes
I never heard of blue potatoes! Are they actually blue?

M maggiedemi Yes. Adirondack Blue which I got at the farm store today. Bluish skin, blue lavender flesh and yes, the mashed potatoes were definitely blue-lavender. I didn't take any pictures but here's one of uncooked potatoes I found on-line.

I've had other blue potatoes, even blue fingerling potatoes. Adirondack Blue was developed at Cornell in 2003. There's apparently an Adirondack Pink too, with rosy pink flesh.

We are all familiar with yellow skin / white flesh, red skin / white flesh, yellow skin / yellow flesh potatoes. Some varieties are better for boiling or steaming, others for roasting, frying, mashing. There are so many varieties of potatoes in Peru (where potatoes originated) that we know nothing about. What a delicious and versatile food!

I have a billion nut butters, but all have sugar & oil, cause that's the type I like.
The oil is fine of course, but regular hummus with garlic would taste weird if you used sweetened nut butter! Some people do make sweet hummus. . .but I've never had it so I can't say if it's good or not. I think it could be pretty good though. Chickpeas are versatile.

When I was vegan I ate so much hummus I got sick of it. Maybe I can start eating it again. I used to buy the Sabra brand with either garlic or red peppers. You said you did not care for Sabra. What kind do you like when you buy it from the store? I used to buy a big tub of it at BJ's and it was the only kind they sold. I could have my brother pick me up some at Wegmans.
They may have some organic hummus. I made some at home once and it was so easy. I think all I added was garlic and salt. I don't like adding a bunch of stuff to my food. How do you eat hummus? Crackers, bread? I like to add garbanzo beans to the salads I get here for protein.

What is an egg burger? Like an egg mcmuffin? That gardein vegetarian turkey looks good! Red french dressing is better though.
I call it an egg burger, if I use a hamburg bun. Last night, it ended up just being a fried egg sandwich, as instead of the burger bun, I just used bread. The gardein turk'y is pretty good. I bought another one for Christmas. Hmmm... must check the store for red french dressing,

I don't eat hummus a lot, but I'll put on Triscuits. Other times I make a sandwich using it and veggies.

Last night, Rick grilled a slice of ham in the NFG and made fried potatoes. That ends his week of cooking and I am grateful that he gave me a week off. It was nice, more than nice actually.

So tonight, I start cooking again. We're going with Louisville Wings and delmonico steaks, both done in the FG, doing the wings first as they take longer. I'm going to throw together a bit of potato salad to have with our dinner.

I think I used to eat hummus with Wheat Thins. I don't remember. Using it in a sandwich and veggies sounds good.

Can you cook the Gardein turkey in a microwave? I might try that for Christmas.

I am in an expensive area so prices reflect that. Long ago I worked at in a wealthy academic institution where you could not get a semi-decent lunch at the cafeteria for under $10. A single small slice of mediocre pizza and a soda cost $15. The company I work for now doesn't have a cafeteria, I guess the reason being is that there are plenty of (pricey) cafes and restaurants in the area. I prefer to bring my own lunch.

The grain bowl was so big that I have leftovers for tonight.

The Sam's Club brand is really good, if someone has a Sam's membership. I haven't checked to see if there's a comparable Walmart brand (usually there is, just a bit more expensive). Trader Joe's hummus is good, usually Aldi has a similar brand. There's a brand that spells it Hommus and has Arabic writing on it but I can't remember the actual brand name, that one is really good. Homemade of course is great. Sabra has too. . .harsh? of a flavor, or something, I don't know how to explain it. It just doesn't have that mellow taste I prefer.

I usually eat it with crackers/chips or naan bread.

Yes, the Sabra did have a harsh taste. I would also like a more mellow taste. My brother belongs to Costco. Their products are usually prețty good. I will ask him to get me some hummus from Costco and Wegmans to see which one I like the best.

I havn't had naan bread in years. I will also have to get some of that.

Oh, yeah, Costco hummus is good too! Forgot about that one. They also have single-serve cups so if you're afraid a big tub will go bad before you eat all of it, ask him to get you a pack of the single-serves. They'll stay good a long time in the fridge since they aren't opened.

ARTIEMOM: Thanks for the information. We don't have any TJ's around hear but I will try the Cedars brand if I can find it. Being vegetarian I would love to have a TJ's or a Whole Foods in the area.

WILLOWY: I will ask my brother to get the single-serve packs of hummus. The last couple times I brough a tub of hummus they went moldey on me before I could finish them.

My first Louisville Wing in the FG. Followed by two Delmonico steaks. I even managed to get Rick's to Medium, while keeping mine at Rare.....make it moo! Air-crisped (air-fried) the wings first and grilled the steaks while wings were resting.
Life is good!

must check the store for red french dressing,
Aldi calls it California French, Ken's calls it Country French. You'll notice it on the shelf cause it's red!

Gah! I hate Triscuits. Worst cracker ever.

I think I used to eat hummus with Wheat Thins.
I love Wheat Thins! I'll have to try them with hummus. The store brand Wheat Thin knockoffs taste nothing like the original. Blah.

Breakfast & lunch: I sampled a ton of different desserts and hated them all. Way too sweet. Also finished up the Aldi sweet potato chips, dipped in mayo this time, which was yummy! Not surprising because isn't chip dip just mayo, sour cream, and spices?

Dinner: Heated up leftover veggie potato soup, added a crumbled piece of cornbread , 1/2TB habanero hot sauce, pinch spicy fire salt, 2 saltine crackers crumbled, and diced tofu that I cooked on the stovetop in Dinosaur BBQ sauce. Yummy!

Hands down, my favorite brand of hummus is the Whole Foods 365 brand. I have a few favorite items I buy at W.F. and this is one of them. I get the roasted red pepper hummus and it's only $3.00.

As far as how I eat it - I use it as a spread on some sandwiches and also as a dip for my veggies. I could eat it every day and never get tired of it.

Dinner tonight is a big veggie salad with an onion roll and my last See's dark chocolate candy bar.
