Let's just say - it hasn't caught my imagination :dunno: yet :)
I haven't read any reviews, as I don't want to accidentally get spoiled, but I'm wondering if despite its "popularity", sales, and time on the best seller's list, if this is a book some will love, while others won't understand the hype.

Is it a big book? How many pages / chapters?

It's November 1st, so if you haven't already, it's time to start reading Where The Crawdads Sing. :)

What is a crawdad, anyway? :dunno:
For anyone wondering, I Googled.

As for whether crawdads really sing, guess we'll have to read the book. :D

I'm going to borrow the e-book from the library in a few days. They have 140 copies, and 4 currently available, so I don't think I'll have any wait time to get it.
Interestingly enough, the 2 local library sponsored book clubs by me also chose this book for November🤔 I really wanted to try borrowing a physical copy or ebook but no dice! Is there a movie or show being made hence the sudden interest?

Not sure why the sudden interest, but yes, there is a movie planned Here's a link, but I suggest not reading it until you finish the book, in case there's any spoilers: Daisy Edgar-Jones Will Star in Reese Witherspoon's Where the Crawdads Sing Movie Adaptation

How many e-books does your library have? Mine has over 100, so the wait time isn't that long. Maybe it's the same with your library.

I’m a couple of chapters in and found the first few a little tough, just because of the style of local dialect that is used. Found it hard to understand. However after I got over that I’m starting to warm to Kya v much ❤
I have to finish the book I'm currently reading, then I'll start this one. My library loan became available today, so I'll have 21 days to read it.

I remember "fishing" for crawdads in the mudbank of the stream behind our house in Houston with a stick, string with bacon tied to it. They dig holes in mud by mounding it up so we could see where they were, and we put the bacon-string in there. Then we'd keep them for a day or two then turn them loose. Great childhood memory :) . Never heard them sing though.

Just ordered mine. Got a hard copy, since it was only a dollar more than the Kindle (when does THAT ever happen?). It will be here shortly.

My dad used to sing a song to me when I was little:

"You get a line and I'll get a pole, Honey.
You get a line and I'll get pole, Babe.
You get a line and I'll get a pole,
We'll go down to the crawdad hole,
Oh, Honey, oh Baby-mine!

How's everyone coming along with the book?

I'm having a hard time focusing on reading these days. No fault of the book, though, just too many other things on my mind. I am a few chapters in, and will hopefully read more this week.

It breaks my heart to think of a child alone. Or anyone being lonely for that matter. I am one big emotional softie 😬❤
You are in good, and LOTS OF GOOD, company here! Lord, I cry on Christmas Eve about all the trees that were cut, and never got a chance to have their moment of glory, all decorated with children look on in awe.
