I used to do the transcriptions at work. With the Audiologist they were easy because she spoke so clearly. The Neurologist I worked for outsourced them to a company in India. Usually his medical assistant would proofread them but sometimes I filled in. He didn’t speak as clearly so they would miss words. And were unfamiliar with American names. But he was way better than the doctor that shared space with us a couple days a week. He would stand at the nurses station in the back and mumble his notes quietly into a little recorder at 3x normal speaking speed. God Bless whoever had to type those out! Maybe they played them back at a slow speed.

I recently read a story about a man who was trying to rob a house. The owner was there alone with her baby. He broke in and she met him with a gun pointed at him. He called the cops because "this crazy b is holding me at gunpoint!" He totally got arrested and was still confused. She wasn't being a victim correctly.

I got a temporary crown this morning...to replace the filling I got four weeks ago...which was a replacement of a filling I got several decades ago. :sigh: Will it never end?

Halfway through the process of grinding away the tooth, I started to flinch because I could feel some pain. He stopped and said, “That’s weird. You shouldn’t be feeling anything.” He gave me another shot. I said, “I’m so glad I could provide you with some weird in your day.” At least I didn’t feel the second shot. :)

klunick klunick Twice I have ordered a gigantic vat of margarine. I didn’t even know it came so large. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I just did a big chewy order a couple days before my Auto-Ship but I didn’t want to wait on Mooch’s favorite foods. I got too low on one. Oops!

I am that kind of drowsy where coffee makes you feel worse. It seems worse sitting at the table to teach the kids. DD was quick today but DS is turning every spelling sentence into an opera performance. He thinks he’s hilarious. 😏

The package my parents sent got returned to them with the box absolutely mangled (obviously searched and they didn't bother putting it back together) My parents are pretty upset because of how much they paid for shipping. I've asked them so many times to use DHL or FedEx (and I'd help pay). Hopefully they'll get a refund or be able to resend it. I also told them to take the tags off of the clothes (not like I'm going to return them even if they don't fit) just in case customs are cracking down on resellers (read an article that they were going to do it to encourage people to shop domestically, but like if I could, I would!)

My other package is being shipped directly from the overseas store and it's less than the import tax cap so hopefully it'll make it through without issues.

I know we want to save the USPS but its international shipping has always been super frustrating.

Press release from Monday's Officer involved shooting. VSP investigates all shooting involving Police to avoid bias accusations.

Investigation Continues into City of Alexandria Shootings

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The Virginia State Police investigation into Monday morning's shooting incidents remains ongoing. Once state police concludes its investigation, the findings will be turned over to the Commonwealth's Attorney for final review and adjudication.

The incident began Monday (Oct. 26, 2020) at approximately 5:01 a.m. when the Alexandria Police Department received a 911 call for shots being fired at a hotel in the 600 block of First Street in Old Town Alexandria. As officers were responding to the scene, two individuals involved in the shooting had fled the hotel on foot. A perimeter was immediately established and search efforts were underway. Further investigation at the hotel determined that an armed robbery had taken place inside the hotel. No one inside the hotel was injured.

At approximately 5:50 a.m., an Alexandria Police Officer located two suspects and a foot pursuit was initiated. When the officer and the two adult males reached the intersection of North Royal Street and Second Street, the officer and one of the two suspects exchanged fire. The officer was shot and both suspects fled the scene again on foot. The officer has been treated and released for non-life threatening injuries sustained in the shooting.

The search perimeter was expanded and police K9 teams located, at approximately 6:24 a.m., one of the suspects - Michael K. Nelson, 27, of Fairfax County - near the intersection of Montgomery Street and North Fairfax Street. As Alexandria police officers engaged with Nelson, shots were fired by both Nelson and officers on scene. Nelson died at the scene. A stolen firearm was recovered in his possession. No law enforcement at this location were injured. Nelson's remains were transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Manassas for examination and autopsy, which remain ongoing.

The other suspect, Mitchell D. Thompson, 26, of Alexandria, Va., turned himself in to the Virginia State Police Monday night (Oct. 26, 2020). He was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time into all three incidents by state police, with the assistance of the Alexandria Police Department and the ATF.

Started watching the Queen's Gambit tv show. Really enjoy it so far and love the strength of the main character. She is very observant and it is interesting to watch her facial expressions and the way she portrays the character. She is also aware and picks up things, like noting the unhealthy relationship between her adoptive parents, but also noting how her mom projects her insecurities onto the main character, such as ways the husband treats the wife and she says the same thing to the adopted daughter. The chess tournament part reminds me a bit of a manga I read that was about a young boy who was astounding at chess and his journey through chess tournaments.

My Amazon package was picked up yesterday. They came a a couple hours early than the scheduled time and knocked multiple times. I finally got up to get the door and saw it was them. I was in the middle of a video appointment that was paid for, and told them they were supposed to come between 12-3 and I cannot get the package right now because I was in the middle of an appointment that was being paid for. I was worried they would give me problems as they said they were not sure if they had time to come back later, but they left a voicemail that they would come back before 5 pm, which they did. I felt kinda bad, but I'm not taking time away from my appointment to lug a heavy box out down the hallway and through the garage and miss time with my appointment. I already felt bad I left my appointment to answer the door, but they knocked multiple times and I wasn't sure if it was an emergency. Overall though, glad my package was picked up in the end.

My FIL used Facebook Messenger to share a post about someone passing away. Somehow he sent it to MIL (his ex wife), SIL and I...but also my mother, my father, my aunt, my best friend and 2 of my cousins. I don’t even know for sure who the person is!:dunno: Possibly a cousin but I’m not sure DH will even know...

I didn’t know until my Dad called because he thought it was DH’s grandfather or something. (His grandfather passed almost 19 years ago and would be about 110 by now.)

I ended up sending separate messages to everyone else saying he must have messages them by accident. I didn’t want DH getting sympathy cards or calls or something! Although now that I’m thinking about it; DH wasn’t even one of the people he put in that group message. 🤪

I don’t know if I should bother telling him. I’ll let SIL handle it since shes more likely to talk to him regularly.

Talked with a neighbor we had never met before. He said they had to put their cat to sleep recently due to heartworms. Cat was indoor only so the vet suspects the mosquitoes got into the house and infected the cat. Since the cat was never outside, they never suspected heartworms until it was pretty much too late.

Husband and I continued on our walk. He turned and said, "I never told you this but I wasn't happy that you were spending the extra money buying Revolution Plus because you worried about Boone and Gracie getting heartworms. Now, I am glad you are."

Jcatbird Jcatbird 's BJ had heartworms when he came in from outside, but he managed to survive them and get over them! I don't know how common that is, though.

I did not know that cats could get heartworms. My vet never brought up the subject. As far as I know none of my cats ever had them and they were all former ferals.

You have a sweet husband.

When we got home, I read up on it. Not very common in cats. Definitely more common in dogs.

I bought Boone the marshmallow bed for Christmas since he loves to knead and suckle. Hopefully he will do it on the bed instead of me more often. I need to find Gracie something comparable ($35 range) but am at a loss. I need something to engage her brain but we already have one of those ball things and it rarely gets played with. Most puzzles involve treats but I'd rather not go that route and she would only be interested in it when it has treats and they don't get treats very often. Guess I know what I'll be doing today. ;)

Picked up my bottle opener yesterday! Got it 3D printed from the solidworks file I created. It came out pretty good and it's a lot more comfortable now that I get to hold it in my hand. It's hard to tell from the file how it's going to feel in hand but I made the solidworks model based on my clay sketch model. It's versatile so it can be held by left and right handed people in various ways. I'm so proud of myself and this design. I wish it was stainless steel than I could use it for real. I'd make a bunch and give to friends and family. Maybe even sell some.
