Yesterday was a complete break from the news!! It felt so good to do so!
*Listened to music, many hours...first zen, calming music; then a Thumbprint radio station from Pandora.. I loved that stated
* Changed bed linen
*threw out trash
* played with Geoffrey a couple of times
* took a nap with Geffy cuddled right up against me... heaven..
* Got car serviced.. do not have to worry about it for a while!!!
Was talking to the valet driver. He had taken me home and picked me up. It is the dealership.. He is new... but a go getter. He probably should not have done this, but we were chatting, normally. When he picked me up, we were talking about the age of my car. He said, supposedly--if I believe him, that at the age of my car, 2008, things are going to start to degrade badly. I will be putting in more and more money. He suggested, that it is a good time to sell; expeciallys ince there are low mileage~~only 62,000. He even suggested a used car... not even the brand that he is working for....

Told him I was thinking of doing just that, in the Spring. He said that if I would like, to contact him, at the dealership, and he will try to help me out. He said his plan, which was agreed to by the manager, is to begin low... as a valet, then spend time all around the dealership, eventually focusing on helping the mechanics. The dealership will sponsor him to go to classes to become a certified mechanic...
He is willing to help me.. whatever.... He said to call him, gave me his phone number, when the time is right.. I know he would get a commission on this... but any help, I will take!!

This is, IF I believe him. You really cannot believe some things... but, he seemed sincere, ___up to a poinT... just being wary
~~~~~~~
Today:
*up early, again
*Geoffrey vomited again--around 3am.. nothing formed. I kind of expected it, cuz I brushed him really well yesterday. I had not brushed him for several days.
* late morning stuff
* going to start out early~~ for supplies... more like more groceries. I need some veggies, and oatmeal, and such. I have a lot of coupons to use. I need something for supper tonight. It was junk on the menu.
We are getting Rain this afternoon, Tomorrow morning, and Thursday night into Friday--possible SNOW!!! OMG>... Have to forage in my closet for my winter shoes, boots, etc.. yuck...
artiemom artiemom FWIW, I'm thinking of you. Please continue to take care of you. And just remember.....one day at a time. I know it sounds trite. But it's also true. Just one day at a time. :hugs:
Awakened with about half a headache. Nothing serious, but I know it's there. Could be just the change in temps and humidity and such. I stayed in bed longer than I should have, but I just feel crappy. It's raining here and will continue for the next three days or so. Can't complain as we so desperately need the rain. In the northern tier of PA, it is to turn to snow Friday morning, but only there. We should be good for a while yet. But our lows will get into the upper 20s, which will certainly be the end of the garden. We'll go up and grab everything we can take. And then let it go. And then, start tearing it all down.
  • Still working on a Lowes list, probably for tomorrow. As I go about my day, there are things that come to mind and then I add them. I do the same with the grocery list. We did grab groceries yesterday; the store had some Bounty towels, so we bought a couple packages, kept one in the bathroom and one in the basement pantry. And then after the grocery store, we walked to the liquor store for my bottle of vodka to make vanilla.
  • My turn to scoop boxes
  • I may do a load of laundry. I washed masks this morning and they're drying on a towel in the bathroom.
Not much today and nothing outside. The outer bands of Zeta have reached us.
  • Vacuumed the heating registers and turned the heat on in the house. I wanted to wait til the weekend, but it's chilly.
  • The second of two loads of laundry is in the washer
  • A bit of cleaning/straightening/picking up throughout the house.
*up early
*regular morning stuff
*Had another Covid test. The building is really into testing. It is voluntary. I may as well take what they are offering. This was a new Saliva Test. OMG.. nothing to eat or drink 30 minutes before. Then have to spit up a storm, into a vial. It took me 20 minutes to do so!!! weird test. I think I would rather the nasal swab.
*Out to Big Lots for Christmas stuff. I had a ton of coupons, so I used them
*Lied down with Geoffrey on my bed, napped a bit.
Zeta arrived earlier than expected. More of around 10am.. We are getting up to an inch of snow overnight!!! I am staying home, tomorrow. Doing nothing.. except regular stuff.
Trekked to Costco for our every-three-week trip. They recently reported five cases of COVID among employees so I practically bathed the cart, our car, and us in sanitizer. (Fifty-four new cases today in our community, a record number. :()
Brownie day! I make them roughly every two weeks, and we treat ourselves to one each a day with our afternoon tea. :yummy:
I was watching the hummingbird feeder and realized that sugar water must have gotten on the outside of the feeder. Two bees had moved in and kept chasing the hummers away. I know bees need to eat, but they need to find another restaurant. I brought the feeder in, scrubbed it well, refilled it with fresh juice, and put it back out. Before I could walk away, the danged bees were back. I’ve been watching, and I think they were just trying their luck. I hope I solved the problem. It’s been getting cold at night, and the hummers need their energy fix!
It was really raining when I got up this morning and is to continue until mid-to-late afternoon. This is not Zeta, but a front coming through. No snow, though, just a lot of rain.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my coffee and Molli on her red pillow. Tired this morning and all I do is yawn.
  • We're getting Rick's mom's Kindle. I'll bring it home, clean and sanitize it, and then put new library books on it. We'll take it back tomorrow, along with a couple apple dumplings. (When she called Rick yesterday, she asked him if I made dumplings yet. Rick said yes and that we'd bring some to her. She was happy.)
  • Nothing much really going on. To be honest, I'm bored out of my mind. I'm having trouble dealing with all this home-time now and am ready to go back to work. I can only clean so much, cook so much, bake so much, read so much. I need to do something. And I think it's really starting to get me down. (And, of course, I can't look for a job because of the damn pandemic! Rick had a fit when I even mentioned it and I can understand.)
And I think it's really starting to get me down. (
I can tell, Pam. :hugs: It's got so many of us down I PMed a member who I hadn't seen posting for a awhile and they said
that the depression they already had was worse, then I wrote again and their mother had died but they couldn't' go home
because of COVID. So sad. There's no playbook for this As much as riding in vehicles causes pain I'm thinking of going
to Amish country with Nicole next time they go.
regular stuff
went back to bed for awhile. I called Jon and told him I didn't need Kaylee today. I do, but
I am weary of having to baby-sit to make sure she's working and not on her phone.
It's been raining for so many days straight I can't remember a nice one. Tomorrow will be sunny
but cold. I'll take it.
The sun is supposed to shine today, but we're not going to get out of the 40s and that wind will make it seem even colder. I swept a ton of leaves off the shed deck again yesterday, because I slipped and almost fell coming out of the shed....wet leaves can be very slippery. The yard looks like we haven't touched it with a rake at all. Leaves everywhere. And still so many on the trees, particularly the maples.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my coffee. Molli is wondering why I can't open the windows for her this morning; she is not amused. I told her that it's below freezing this morning and we'd both get cold in no time. She finally sulked herself to sleep.
  • I'll need to scoop this morning.
  • Take the dehydrator to the basement as I'm done with tomatoes for the season.
  • I think we'll be working outside today. Leaves need to be done and we need to start working on tearing down the garden. I took everything from the garden yesterday, green peppers and the butternuts. I'm hoping they turn color. Peppers are in the kitchen and the butternuts are in the basement. Rick needs to make a trip to the local brush collection center as he put a ton of brush in the truck. The stuff that's left in the garden will be pulled, put on a pile, and then burned at some point. And then we'll till the garden.
  • I put the pillows from the outdoor rocking chairs into their box in the basement. I never kept them out overnight, always put them in the shed overnight and if I knew it was going to rain. They're in great shape. We'll put the rocking chairs and Dad's Adirondack chair in the basement today. I have a couple doo-dads that need to be put away, too.
  • About halfway through season 3 of the X-Files. I'm really enjoying the episodes.
If I can get...
beds stripped and remade
towels and bath mats washed
bathrooms cleaned
I will call today a success. Anything extra is bonus points for tomorrow.
Already went to the supermarket. I need to go back either later or tomorrow because they hadn't put out any more chicken thighs that are on currently on sale :rolleyes: Hopefully people aren't hoarding chicken because of the good sale price. I need to go to the pet store and restock my freezer with raw food. Then maybe BJs for paper goods before people panick again with the new surge in cases. Laundry and replacing the summer curtains with the insulated ones are also on the list of things to do.
*regular morning stuff...need to start soon
*need to go through my mountain of mail.. pay the bills, and decide what is junk.. it is a challenge. Most of it is junk mail.
* brush Geoffrey
* get mail, put my outgoing stuff in mailbox.
*perhaps just go check on my car..
We got about 5 inches of snow yesterday. Yuck... It was the very heavy wet snow. Today it is supposed to be in the 40's. It was in the 20's when I woke up.
**Have to remember to turn the clocks back tonight.. yuck...
Make myself watch Hocus Pocus today/tonight
Funny thing. I think I got someone else's newspaper this morning!! It was surprise! So I am going to read it. I do not know whose it is, but it was outside my door.. taking it as a gift since I had a really bad week.
*Have to decide on supper tonight. I have been eating so much.. like a pig. Be glad when all this candy is gone. I have to remember not to buy any more.
artiemom artiemom Wowza, 5 inches!! That;s quite a bit.
I have been eating so much.. like a pig
So have I! I guess we're stocking up for winter?
regular stuff
will wash some throws
We're supposed to have high winds with the temps dropping, rain and some snow, so I'll crank down the umbrella,
just can't bear to put it in the garage yet. I've been reading a scary book on my tablet that I've read before but I felt
the need to read it again. It's one of those .99 cents books from Kindle that is in Ebook form only. I'll probably have
a Stouffer's dinner later on this morning.
There's not much on my list today, to be honest. Yesterday, I worked outside and there is no way I'm working outside today. The wind is whipping around the house and would just blow my leaf piles around anyway. You'd never know that I did any cleaning up around the she shed yesterday. It's just nasty out there. And indoors? Well, before I went outside yesterday, I vacuumed, swiffered, washed the bathroom down, and wiped down the kitchen a bit. So I was busy.....which means there's not really much on my agenda today.
  • Must scoop boxes
  • I'll do a bit of straightening-up in the house and then, when Rick goes to bowl this afternoon, I'll go out to the shed for some X-Files
And I don't have a third thing for today.
We had a black frost Friday night so it is time to cut back, dig, store all the cannas, cut back bananas and put up their "roof" and deal with all the fallen leaves carpeting driveway and lawn.
It is all the more complicated because Himself - who had a mild case of pneumonia early in October - kept wheezing and had difficulty sleeping even though he was always tired. Told his doctor that he wanted to see someone else. Went to an ENT on Oct 26 who sent him for another X-ray. She called back about noon and said the radiologist reviewing the X-ray diagnosed congestive heart failure. Himself needs to see his cardiologist. Which we did on Oct 30. He took one look at Himself's swollen neck veins and said it is acute congestive heart failure. Blood work, an ultrasound of his heart, two medications. I'm glad to say he's doing better in just two days. Another visit with nurse practitioner tomorrow, cardiologist visit two weeks from the first visit.
As if covid-19 and the election was not enough. Could do without adding this into the mix.
So today I
1) Cut back the remaining plants of one of the four kinds of cannas, dug, and put in the garage. All of the Canna flaccida 'Purpurea' - those that were dug yesterday and those dug today - need to be sorted, cleaned, packed away. Then I can start on another cultivar. Unless I do them one at a time odds are good that they'll be mixed up. I'm sure you don't need to ask me how I know.
2) Cut back the in-ground banana at the bottom of the driveway and covered with a tub filled with dry leaves. That will get a leaf filled garbage can over it but not today - it's raining now.
3) Sort of raked the driveway as I went down and back up, pushing the rake ahead of me as I maneuvered the hand truck, tub, loppers, and pitchfork.
4) Need to bake the chocolate chip cookies that I prepared dough and shaped yesterday evening. Tip of my hat (that I'm not actually wearing) to Winchester Winchester for that good advice.
Yesterday:
*regular morning stuff
* played with Geoffrey a couple of times..
* I installed some insulation on the 3 sides of the door frame. Also put an additional Insulation strip on the bottom of the door.
* Chicken soup for supper
*changed the clocks.
*Fire TV Stick not working.. ugh
* Had to close off the vent in the kitchen, just before bedtime..
* Could not sleep
Bad day... all this is because of the new neighbor. Long story.. stench is coming into my apartment. I am doing the best I can.
Today:
*Watched TV Mass
*Brushed Geoffrey
*Regular Morning stuff, but very late....
* Sent log of stench smell to Facilities Manager.. He wanted it..
*Installed insulation around the edges of the wall AC unit
* Pulled out Fire Stick
*Reinstalled Fire Stick~~It worked!!!
* Cooked Supper
*Read newspaper
* Listening to music on Alexa...
*Got laundry ready for pick-up tomorrow.
*Got results of routine Covid Test--negative.. but one employee in here came out positive.. It will be hush hush who it is.. but...... things have a way of coming out, eventually. I think I may have an idea of whom it is.
Trying to relax today...
My 2 week cardiac monitor comes off tomorrow morning.. Do not know if I want it to find something or not... I do know I get many extra beats--to me, short of breath easily, and light headed at times..
Do not know if it is asthma or something else.. Will feel so good to be able to take a full shower..without worrying about working around the monitor... It could be worse..
Not a bad day.. it was really a good day...
The stinky, stenchey neighbor was not home today.. so, it was nice... Thank You God...
