I have always been a believer in a good multi vitamin,take vitamin D,wear a b-12 patch,get my flu shot religiously,am up to date with the pneumonia shots and have taken a dose of airborne every day since it came out.I also keep a package of the zicam swabs handy just in case.

You are really staying on top of everything. I really hope more and more people start thinking about their health and work on boosting their immune system. I believe a well rounded approach diet, exercise, good supplements, OTC cold prevententive and treatment and antibiotics. I never got a flu vaccine because I never really get the flu. However, I will be taking my mother to get it soon. I think the Covid 19 may be out by January. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I was shopping today and in my mind I was going over what supplements I should take to help with certain problems I have. I then had a moment of clarity and one thought was strongly impressed on my mind that is you cannot out supplement poor eating habits.

I admit as a junk food junkie I have my ups and downs with my diet and exercise regiment. Sometime we overrely on supplements thinking it makes up for bad eating habits. Supplements may help, but if you are not doing your part, it may not spare you from health problems.

I vowed to make a stronger resolve to eat more healthy. I am going to be more in tune with cutting down on eating foods that are on the High Inflammation List. Sugar is on that list.😢 Anyway, I am putting up two articles I hope you find helpful. When you eat a high inflammation diet it opens you up to a whole host of diseases and conditions in time.

Thank you!I have copd...well controlled....and the idea of getting some sort of respiratory issue is a dread for me,so I do what I can.

Has anyone tried Golden Milk? It is a concoction that originated in India. Milk or Milk Subtitute (Coconut, Almond or other) Tumeric(with a pinch of black pepper), Ginger, and Cinnamon are the usual ingredients, but I have seen other ingredients as a subtitute or added on like Saffron, Cardamon, Cloves, and Nutmeg. Honey, Coconut Flakes and even a little Syrup has been used to top it. I tried this a few times and it is pretty good. There is a lot of antioxidents and anti- inflammatory properties in it.

Here is an article on the benefits of Golden Milk with a common and a alternate recipe. You also can buy Golden Milk mixes in the Healthfood stores. I have even seen it sold in CVS believe it or not. Just something else to boost your immune system. Enjoy. 🙂

I guess I am on the opposite end with my junk food/sugar junkie ways. Thankfully, I am not diabetic and am trying to improve my diet. I take Ceylon Cinnamon pills to keep blood sugar in check when I slip up.

You may have to eat more fruit to bring up your sugar levels. Taking Organic Honey could also help. Even eating Yogurt, although some brands have a lot of sugar in it.

You need some sugar in your diet. I heard 6 teaspoons (25 grams) a day is considered normal. So it is okay to add a spoon of sugar to coffee. If your blood sugar gets low, you can feel cold. I had some sugar crashes where my hands felt like ice cubes and I really felt chilled to the bone.

Well thanks for visiting this thread. I posted some Golden Milk recipes above you might be interested in. I never thought I like this stuff, but it was pretty tasty and good overall.🙂

I'm not a doctor, and I'm sorry to be the dumbass, but your immune system works fine on it's own as long as you eat every day, and eat varied, vegetables, as little fruit and sweets as you can, wash your hands every time you come home, make food, been to the bathroom, whatever.

You really don't want a hyped-up immune system anyway (an over active immune system means allergies and joint/muscle pains). Syrups are pointless, just go for a run or walk instead.

If you get the flu despite that, there's nothing you can eat that will stop it. It is what it is.

I try to eat organic when I can afford it, but the question I like to put out is do you think that in non-organic foods that the foods are not as healthy or lacking in vitamins than organic? What about GMO's (Genetic Modified Oganisms)? Also what about supplements for people who don't eat well. I 100% agree that diet is extremely important, but unless you are following the nutritional guidelines to a tee, there will be nutritional deficiencies. For example, the FDA is saying that we should strive to eat 2.5 cups of veggies and 2 cups of fruit. The average American doesn't eat enough veggies. I take green juice to make up for that, although it is ideal to eat solid veggies. What about people that have dietary allergies and can't eat certain food, thus not getting the vitamins that is found in that food?

I think we should all strive to get most if not all vitamins from our food, but I also see the need to supplement.

No. Analysis shows no difference in nutrition between organic and non-organic. The difference is pesticide use, and possibly pesticide residue on the food, depending what it is. However, grass-finished beef, organic or not, is definitely healthier than corn-finished beef, so if you eat beef that's one thing worth paying more for.

As for GMOs, I'm a bit on the fence. I don't believe there's any harm in something like golden rice, but I'm somewhat leery of things like cutworm-resistant corn. If it kills cutworms, what does it do to our bodies? But I'm not against genetic engineering in general.

Well, then I guess it comes down to the consumer and what they see as a risk. I am not crazy over pesticides on my fruits and veggies. I will buy organic when I can afford it, but it is too expensive and doesn't last too long. I have bought fruit and veggies pesticide washes instead and I bought those green bags to preserve the produce. It think it is practical solution.

In regards to GMO's, I have mixed feelings. I understand if it improves the nutitional make up and the asthetic look of it that may be a benefit. However, I am a bit leery as you are. What are the long term effects of this enhanced produce? Does it sound too good to be true? There is a strong feeling I have about not messing with our food supply. I wonder if this has opened a Pandora's box where their is serious health ramifications. Idk, but I am concerned.😟
