I just put together vanilla beans and vodka to begin the process of getting vanilla extract.
I want to order some vanilla sugar. But there were 2 different kinds and I couldn't decide which would be better- sugar with vanilla extract or sugar with ground vanilla beans.

My positive is we just placed a Vitacost order and got a bunch of fun stuff- gluten free spaghetti, elbows, and mac & cheese, hot cocoa, cinnamon raisin peanut butter, dark chocolate peanut butter, diced crystallized ginger, vegan marshmallows, cornmeal, and popcorn.

We had a field trip today to go to a local corn maze. We go every year and they normally have a big fall fest full of stuff for the kids to play on. Of course most of that stuff is out; but I’m glad we still got to do the maze!

And they still had up the big painted corn guy with a height chart on the side. I’ve taken my kids pictures with that sign every year since they were small! I was really glad we didn’t have to miss that tradition this year. :hearthrob: 🌽 Its a little thing; but feels big in a mamas heart.

I would choose based on how you plan to use it. I would think ground beans would be better in baking than say coffee. I could be wrong though.

My positive is that I don't have to rush around this morning getting ready to take the youngest to a ROTC event. He decided not to go last night due to having occasional bathroom issues over the last few days. Nothing like being stuck directing traffic when you gotta go!!

My positive post is that my birthday was last week, and this week (well, since yesterday) I've been cuddling with a new kitten that we added to our family. :hyper:
A very Happy Birthday and special congratulations on your new kitten. :heartshape: Please tell us some details, e.g. male, female, name and pics.

My positive is it isn't raining and the sun is out. Can't wait to get out and enjoy the day. :sunshine:

Don’t you love it when you find a solution in the internet that actually works? I have this pricey small enameled cast iron roasting pan that is the perfect shape and size for small meal cooking but it has sat unused for a couple years because of major and dangerous design flaw I didn’t notice when I purchased it. There are handles on each side to lift off the lid but when you do the steam release shoots out the slides and burns your hands and arms. I hated to toss it and didn’t want someone else burned if I donated it so it has just sat on a shelf. I started wondering if there was some way to attach a knob to the top and found an article that said that cast iron is actually easy to drill through if you use a metal drill bit. So today I got brave, got out the big drill and goggles and darned if it wasn’t as easy as they said. Here is the almost finished product. This is just a stainless knob I had in the house but I think I am going to order one I know is ovenproof.

My positive is I got 2 of my sugars, the Turbinado sugar and Molasses sugar. I will try them on my English muffins this week, probably with butter. The turbinado was good in my coffee tonight. 1oz is a lot smaller than I thought! But at least I will use the samples up quickly. The Demerara sugar will be 4oz, that's the smallest size they had.

We'll have a bit of sun this morning! Yesterday, Cal and I snuggled a lot. I made homemade cocoa with whipped cream.
It was really good and warmed me up as well. Today I may binge watch something, not sure.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, Moz Moz AND HAPPY NEW KITTEN!!!!

I woke up and looked at the clock that said 0530. Got up to use the restroom and looked at the clock and it said 0630. Then I realized the other clock must have "fallen back" a week early for Daylight Saving Time. Thanks (former) President Bush.

The positive is I hate falling back. Makes it seem like I work an extra hour until I get used to it. Everyday at 1230, I think "if it were last week, I would be going home right now. "

How do you make homemade hot cocoa?

My positive is tomorrow is Monday, so I get to start a new bag of granola for breakfast. I picked a cinnamon raisin one from Aldi. I will probably have it with a diced pear and milk. I have all my granola picked out for the year, on my various wishlists at different stores. I use one bag a week and won't stop til I try them all. They will be mine.

My positive is that one of our nieces was over, and her, Michele, and Michele's sister went for a 'girl's day'. When they got back, I asked her about her father, who has been undergoing treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, from Agent Orange. She said that while some of his blood values are still low, they are improving, so no more chemo for the foreseeable future, at least until his next check-up in February.

How do you make homemade hot cocoa?
You mix cocoa, sugar, dash of salt, and water in saucepan.
Bring to a boil, then add milk and heat for about 5 mins but don't boil.
When done, add a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.
I like mine with whipped cream on top

N NY cat man I'm glad your b.i.l. is doing better.
Silver Crazy Silver Crazy Sorry your brother had issues with A.O.

The Browns won yesterday in an exciting finish! 🏈 I didn't watch but it was on the radio.

Going to be cold today..yesterday I wore my fleece pj bottoms all day and I was cozy.
Watched the first season of Sex and the City.....love that show. I had pizza delivered,
first time in awhile and it hit the spot..still have 5 pieces left.🍕

My positive, at 8am, is that my new fleece bathroom from LL Bean is awesome!! First time wearing it, this morning... OMgosh... I love it..

It is down to my ankles, the sleeves are long!! I have to roll them up!! This is unheard of since I am 5'8"..... and so warm... I love it..

Only thing, I got the deep raspberry color. I want not thinking. I should have ordered a lighter color because Geoffrey's fur will be sticking all over it...

It feels like I am wearing a heavy blanket... love it.. roomy...
