Nature has a way of bringing the lost babies together with a willing patent, no matter what the species. I often wonder if Froggie acted as a parent to Banjo and Whistle. Perhaps their mother too since she also protects the frogs. You would think that would go against the nature of a cat but I have even had a cat to a baby possum into her litter of kittens. She was a bit confused when it wanted to start riding on her back but she allowed it. Very funny to see but heartwarming.

I haven’t had a run in with a goose or rooster but a baby llama did find my long hair attractive.
I've been to like a billion petting zoos and fairs, but the chickens and roosters are always in cages or behind a fence, not out where they can peck people. 😲

I grew to hate chickens, and looked forward to their demise and reappearance on the dinner table.
Oh that's a shame. My Rhode Island Red chickens that I had for 5 months were so friendly. I miss them terribly. 😥🐓

I guess a baby Llama is hard to resist.
I'm swooning right now cause I'm obsessed with llamas. And cats too of course. Perfect combo.🦙🐈 :cloud9:

here is Mama , per your request. Or.... purr your request?
Awww, she looks surprised that I requested a pic of her. She's saying "Who, me?!" 😍

Yes, YOU, Mama! You are very special, you know!

I keep being reminded, re the geese, of the one time I was attacked by a swan (who can be EVIL!). I was so ticked off that I spread my "wings," thrust my head forward, and ran right at him, hissing for all I was worth! I don't know if I actually scared him, but I sure confused him enough that he backed off and let well enough alone!

Although we had two chicken houses, with nest boxes for each chicken, there were no cages. They were what today are called 'free range' so they had every opportunity to get you; sometimes ganging up to attack.

We didn't have a cage or barn for my chickens. They escaped from my neighbor's and he wouldn't come get them for 5 months. So I took care of them the best I could. They ran and played outside all day and destroyed the garden. Then they would all roost in the lilac tree every night. They were very friendly and never hurt us. They did peck Maggie once, when she tried to punch them.

M maggiedemi I knew you would like the baby Llama and cat! Lol So cute. Mama was surprised and flattered that you asked for her. She gave her cutest “Who me?” ;)
As for chickens pecking, petting zoos here let the animals meet and greet. The pecks hurt but most are friendly enough that they are the ones chosen to be around humans. As long as they don’t feel threatened, they usually do okay. Not always though! A rooster really hurts too. My rooster was a rescued fighting bird and at first, he was inclined to use his spurs. Like any creature, fear. He settled though and made a very loving husband for my chicken,” Fried.”
Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Swans are beautiful but act a lot like geese. They arch their necks and do just what you did! Wings out and run towards to intimidate. Lol You spoke to him in swan speak! Back off bird! That could have left a bruise! Glad your instincts kept him off.
N NY cat man If they were free range, that might be why they were so defensive. Survival tactic? I let mine free range at first but when the babies came, we built a pen. Fried liked to roost on top of the window ac or with the cat and dog until she found her love in that rooster. Then things changed. She still came around to snuggle the others though. She was an exceptionally intelligent chicken. She taught her children to respect the hand that fed them. This, she was never Fried beyond her name. Lol

rubysmama rubysmama Very glad you liked the videos. That poor baby goose! Watching her fly with the boat was neat. I laughed when she stuck her head in his pocket and stole his waffle.
The visit went very well but was far too short. I hope we can do it again soon. She knew Sarah has also allowed me to be close to her own daughter. Her daughter has become quite a talented artist and , ironically, her Mom brought me a painting to see that she did. A girl holding a chicken! Funny timing on that! I loved the painting. She also showed me a great cat painting, Beta fish and others. All great.

@dustydiamond1I glad you enjoyed them too!
M maggiedemi That’s great that you took care of the chickens. Roosting I’m a lilac tree must have been kind of nice!

Our smiles tonight come from flowers and my helper? Lol

I am going to be putting a new cover on the greenhouse but when I got on the ladder, I saw something!

Oh boy!

I managed to get a couple of the flowers. It’s my Dutchman’s pipe vine!

It’s a very large flower. The vine is actually growing inside the greenhouse but had found an opening left by Thrasher when she used to climb up there for a warm place to stay.

The flower has a deep throat that...

goes to the back of the flower and forms the “ pipe shape.”

Hey Lady! Would you climb up and push the vine back into the greenhouse?

Yep. Over there.

:eek3: :eek2: Oh My Cat! Audrey III! What a wonderous sight! How big is the flower? The size of a dinner plate? Are there any flowers inside the greenhouse? Does it have a smell? I'm gobsmacked as our friends across the pond would say. :jawdrop:

rubysmama rubysmama That flower is an unusual one. Lady, even better. Lol She loved the song and made me post another one. ;) She chose a good one.

dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 The flower is about the size of a small dinner plate. When it’s a good year, they are larger. Right now it is blooming on top of the greenhouse since it escaped through a year in the plastic. Hole curtesy of cats. Lol The vine is actually in a pot and rooted through that into the ground inside the greenhouse.Since I will re cover the greenhouse, I will put it back inside. The first time it bloomed, I was gobsmacked too! I have been trying to take cuttings, no luck. Seed finally arrived last year but none sprouted. I have allowed others to attempt reproducing it too but nothing. I’ll keep trying.

M maggiedemi Lady is pleased that you choose her over a flower. Lol No Llamas though.

I am going to sign off tonight. During my work outside today, I got near an underground yellow jacket nest. Apparently. I was wearing my mosquito hat so my face was protected. I also had leather gloves and two shirts on but they got my neck and all over my back. Many stings and I must take an anti histamine for this amount of stings. Right now I have ice on the stings but the pain is pretty bad. I think Lady was aware of the nest yesterday. It’s in the ground right behind her in this photo where she asked to get picked up and go inside. Smart Lady! I went out and set a trap to catch as many as I can to remove them from the cat areas. If the hornet finds them, they are going to be supper. I’m just glad they didn’t get me enough to eat me! Here are a couple of bites. They even followed me into the house. Very aggressive attack.

Jcatbird, so sorry the hornets stung you all over your back and neck. Hopefully you will feel better with the anthistimine you took. If you don't feel better by tomorrow, please don't hesitate to go to the doctor. You are in my thoughts and 🙏 .:heartshape:

That song was purr-fect. :hearthrob:

Oh, no. 😲 Thankfully your face was protected, but your poor neck and back. :( I hope the antihistamine has helped, and that the pain is lessening. :vibes::vibes::vibes: Please check in, when you can, to let us know how you're doing today. 🤗
