Good morning! :wave3:

Where do you eat your meals? As a child, where did your family eat meals? In the kitchen? A separate dining room? On TV trays in front of the television?

When I was young and still living at home, we always ate our meals at the kitchen table. And we always ate as a family as much as we could.
Rick and I usually eat at our kitchen table, too. Sometimes, though, if it's just a couple slices of pizza, we'll eat in the living room on the couch while watching the local news. When our son lived at home, we ate as a family, again, as much as we could. I worked a swing-shift, so it was difficult. He played a lot of sports, so he was usually at whatever practice. But we really tried.

I do know a couple who eats every meal on tv trays in front of the tv.

How about you? Where do you eat your meals?

ETA: I had posted this before proof-reading and when I was talking about being younger, I wrote "And we always ate a family...." I saw that and quickly edited the sentence. That could have gotten some attention! Proof-reading matters!

We usually ate breakfast and lunch at the kitchen table, although on weekends we were allowed to eat in the living room. For dinner, we were always at the dining room table.

My own table is taken up by the computer, so I normally just eat all of my meals in front of it :compsurfing:

When I was growing up we always ate meals in the kitchen. When I was living at home I always ate my meals in my spare bedroom in front of the computer. Now I eat my meals on a TV tray while using my IPad.

We eat in the kitchen for meals. Snacks tend to either be in the living room or bedroom depending on who it is.

We actually just eat in the living room. We have considered getting a table, but we have a smallish house and a lot of cat stuff! Especially now that it is just my husband and me, I just do not see the point except for holidays. We use our gaming table for that, though. More often than not, even before my son and his fiancee moved, I would be eating alone due to everyone's schedules.

As a child, I ate at the table in the kitchen.

When I was a kid we ate in the kitchen if my father was working. If he was home it was the dining room. With DH and DD, we ate in the kitchen. Now that it's just me I eat in the living room.

As a child, dinners were ate in the van on the way to a practice or game. If no sports obligation, my solo mom was at work during dinner time, but we all ate on the living room floor. I suppose for 5 kids, it wouldn't work on the couch and coffee table. . Other meals were more like snacks on the road.

Currently, I eat on the way to work, at work, and on the way home. If I snack in the evening I'll eat it in my bed lol (yes- I know). Most of my food is consumed in my work truck or around 400ft in the air because I work on wind turbines. I always pack snacks to climb with, and I'll pack a hearty lunch if I know I'll be uptower all day.
Thank you for such an interesting question. I just realized that I have never been a table eater. This explains so much about my table manners! Lol

:yeah: Ditto, mom would have dinner ready when my dad got home from work and always at the kitchen table. Growing up we weren't allowed to eat in another room because it would make crumbs. :rolleyes2: I loved sleepovers at friends' houses because we could eat wherever we wanted. Funny thing is I passed on the same rule with my kids with the exception of eating in the family room.

We always ate at the kitchen table when I was growing up. My mother always wanted us to be together as a family when we ate our meals. We were allowed to bring snacks and stuff into our rooms/ living room though.

When I was living on my own, I would always eat at my kitchen table if I was home. I would take snacks into the living room and I would occasionally snack at my desk in the spare room.

Now, DH and I will eat either at our kitchen table or our kitchen island that has bar stools. It really depends on the meals and how much space we will need. He is a night snacker and will take snacks in the bedroom while watching Netflix. I don’t snack much, but I will sneak some of his if I am awake or have some of my own if I feel like it.

My parents home wasn’t large enough to have a kitchen table so meals were in your lap in the living room.

My dining room is an alcove off of the living room and is where I eat meals, do puzzles, watch backyard birds and use my IPad. It’s sort of my daytime office. There is also a table in the kitchen but It’s only used for unpacking groceries and stuff, Willow’s bird watching out the front window and overflow guest seating for holidays and gatherings.

When my dad wasn't home, which was most of the time, because that's the way the Navy works, we ate wherever we darn well wanted. On top of the table, under the table, out on the fire escape, in the hallway, in the bedrooms, whatever. My mom's only rule was not on the carpet (only the living room was carpeted) and not on the beds (crumbs).

When he was home, she'd try to get us to eat at the table, which was really too abrupt of a transition when we were small, and caused a lot of strife. We did not really like it if our dad was home. He doesn't like children and mostly complained that we made too much noise (he has misophonia, and silverware scraping ceramic is definitely one of his triggers). He probably would have been happier if we ate on the fire escape, and we definitely would have been happier. But she had to try for the happy family sitting around the table. . .

I mostly eat at the table or standing at the kitchen counter, or else the dogs try to help ;). Sometimes I eat at the coffee table, only after putting the dogs outside.

In the kitchen whilst watching the box. No where else feels right now as I've done it for so long now in this house.

As a kid, living on a farm, we had a large kitchen with a big round oak pedestal table that accommodated all 9 of us, so that's where we ate as we didn't have a dining room. Now, although our house does have one, we seldom use it, opting instead for the living room or kitchen.

When I lived with my parents, we always ate at the dining room table. Our kitchen was so small it had no table. After I was married and we had kids, we ate at the kitchen table. Now that the kids are gone and I live alone, I eat in the living room closely watched by two kitties.
