Mia6 Mia6 rest today... that trip took a lot out of you.
The white cat is hangin out this entire area. There is one person on Next Door who is right onto him. She talked to the neighbors in the house behind my apartment building. They are feeding him tuna. So there may be a chance to trap him. If I see him around, I would love to be able to catch him; but kind of impossible because I would have to go up to apt, get food, come down, and he would probably be gone..

Winchester Winchester So glad MIL was happy.. wow! 99 years old.. man.... God Bless her!
Enjoy your day today..

Yesterday:
*morning stuff
*Rite Aid
*Walgreens
*Dunkin for iced coffee
*payed some bills
* put up curtains

Today is "Bug Day" in the building. It is a really poor performance from the exterminator. He will put some sticky stuff in kitchen cabinets.. I am staying in.. It is from 9-1pm. They usually start on the 9th floor and work down. I am on the 3rd floor, so I do not expect them until 11 or later.

I do not know what I will do with myself in the meantime. I want to at least be showered, with bed made, before 9am...

Winchester Winchester It's a working greenhouse rathere than a conservatory pretty one. When new, back in 1999, there was room for a chair and I could sit in there with a cup of tea. Winter wonderful! But now it is too full of plants. But here are a couple of pictures for you, that I hope will suffice.

BelleWood in Bloom - greenhouse_2014-01_Cyclamen persicum - reduced size.jpg
From 2014, a Cyclamen persicum my parents brought back from Israel for me in 1973.
The tuber had fallen to the edge of a road after some roadwork was done.

C catapault Such wonderful pictures. I'm envious of your greenhouse. Thank you.
  • Molli and I lounged until 8:00, then dragged our butts out of bed. I had my coffee and then started in on my day.
  • I have the last of three loads of laundry in the washer.
  • I have sliced peppers in the freezer. Once they're a wee bit frozen, I'll bring them up and seal in their Saver bags and then back into the freezer they go. I kept a nice bunch of pepper strips in the fridge because we'll put them in our chicken fajitas tonight. I can't say enough about these peppers; honestly, they're just gorgeous. Rick picks them just as they're starting to turn and they redden in the house. Beautiful. I also did some mild banana peppers.
  • Washed, sliced, and chopped a bunch of tomatoes. Just stuck them in the oven with some fresh garlic and a dollop of olive oil to roast for 30 minutes, before turning them into marinara for the freezer. The grapes will be halved and will go into the dehydrator later on this afternoon. I still have a plateful of peppers that are just barely turning, so will keep them for a couple of days, as well as a small plate of grape tomatoes; Rick brought them down from the garden this morning. Once they're picked, they turn quickly. Almost to the middle of October and the garden is still producing.
  • Supernatural is back tonight. Seems like I've been waiting forever.

Good grief C catapault ! That thing is gigantic!

Not much on my agenda for Friday. After I finished the tomatoes yesterday, I vacuumed and swiffered the house, cleaned the bathroom, and cleaned the kitchen. While I cleaned in the house, Rick ran the mower around to mow the grass and to get the leaves gathered. Then he pushed the mulching mower with the bag to get the leaves and took them up to the garden. Those leaves, although they pretty much covered the yard, were only from our walnut tree and one of the maples. The other trees are still clinging onto the leaves, so he'll be doing that a few times yet this fall.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my coffee.
  • Took the tomatoes out of the dehydrator to cool down. I'll go back out to the kitchen and run them through the coffee grinder for powder. Rick brought down enough peppers for two plates and they're on the kitchen counter, turning color. Probably Sunday, they'll be ready. (He covered the strawberry bed last night, but we only got down to about 40F.
  • Started working on a grocery list. Down to my last roll of paper towels (which can be hard to find around here sometimes). We'll probably grab some groceries early next week.
  • Vet appt for Amber Louise tonight to see if the ulcers in her mouth have cleared up at all. She's eating like a horse, so I'm thinking she's OK.

Regular stuff

Washed new duvet cover that I'm using as a quilt, shams, pillow cases. I bought the set from my neighbor for $20.00, new!
It's 300% Egyptian cotton thread-count, so very soft on my skin. Kaylee will make the bed, go to Giant Eagle, and library.

Will try to read on the deck. Going to be a perfect day, low 70s, low humidity, and all sun.Perfect!
Winchester Winchester How was your outing?

Yesterday was:
* half of regular morning stuff!! Geoffrey kept jumping on my lap(:)), so I had a very late start!!!! I skipped vacuuming
* Bad morning: Woke up to Vomit, in front of the bathroom door.. Then I dropped my oatmeal bowl, onto my favorite Autum coffee mug. Bowl into 6 pieces. A huge chip on mug! UGH...
Then I was wiping down the sand from the windowsills and I tipped over the one plant I have in here. A succulent.. UGH... Soil everywhere!
By 10 AM, I had 3 trips to the trash room!!!
* Went to Big Lots. They were just stocking the paper products. I got 2 packs of napkins, a pack of TP and a pack (8) Bounty towels.

Glad I did as I saw Dr Birks announce that she was "Concerned" about the uptick in cases in the NorthEast..

Today:
*Woke up to Geoffrey Vomiting!!! same spot.. just grateful it is not on carpeting. Trash room rum
* Thinking of going to liquor Store (A bottle of Scotch, for a Christmas Gift, and a bottle of Vodka for me~~ think it is going to be a long winter).... I only need to get a few Dunking Gift Cards, and couple bottles of wine
* Bring my Completed Voting Ballot to City Hall--probably drop off box.
* Butcher to restock my freezer: ribeye and chicken breast..

Think about something for supper.

So far, that is my plan; but, plans always change.

artiemom artiemom I hope your day improved. Was Geoffrey trying to cough up a hairball?

No laundry today. Floors didn't get mopped, nor clothes folded. Living room needs dusted and vacuumed.
I'm on the hunt for an Independent Provider; an aide who is self-employed, has a Provider number issued
by the state, and bills Medicaid, etc themselves. They are more reliable, are paid more than agency aides,
and are allowed to drive their clients to appts, etc. and you don't have to listen to them complain about
cleaning as in "that is not light cleaning." Agency aides usually won't lift a finger to do a bit extra but I've
been lucky so far. My aide is now complaining about 2 other clients who she feels ask her to do too much
cleaning...groan.....while she's texting most of the time she's there, I'm sure. I've asked and asked her to
stop the texting but she then hides it from me. The agency is very short on aides and she knows this so
thinks there is no way she'd get fired.
Rant Over, ha!!

Will read a bit, fold what I am able to. Re-cooperate from trip....snuggle with Cal

Get bedding and towels washed and dried

Clean bathroom or at least give them a good wipe down and the toilet a scrub.

artiemom artiemom I hope this morning went better than yesterday. :hugs: Is Geoffrey feeling better?
Thanks for the reminder Mia6 Mia6 . I created a post about Hyner View. I so wish you could find somebody who's actually willing to work! That's a shame. I'm so sorry.

We took Amber Louise to the vet last night so she could check her mouth ulcer. It's gone, thankfully. She seems to be doing OK, still has a bit of a scab on her nose from that discharge that was going on a couple weeks ago. Still doing curbside there.
We also went for some groceries. Rick said yesterday that he was almost out of creamer for his coffee. I asked him if he had enough for the weekend and he replied that he didn't. So off to the grocery store. Everybody at both our Giant and our Target wear masks; they're not allowed in the stores without them.
  • Molli and I lounged until 9 this morning, then we got up. I'm drinking my coffee now.
  • I'm going to clean in the shed. Vacuum, swiffer. I want to wash windows, too, while I'm out there. We still have the chairs out on the deck and patio because I still try to go out there for an hour or so in the afternoon. Lately, it's been very gusty around here, so no sitting. The wind has been horrible.
  • Some yard work this afternoon. Nothing major.

Mia6 Mia6 and Winchester Winchester I think Geoffrey is feeling better. He is so strange. He vomits, and then wants to play! Weird cat... I am thinking it is all extra hair; even though I did not see any 'balls' in the vomit. He is so hard to brush; yet he really needs it, this year. I do not know why this year is worse than last. He shed so much, and is constantly grooming. Perhaps that is it? that he is grooming too much??

I bought a fulminator for him, thinking that it would take a lot of the hair, quicker than all the other brushes I have. It does take a bunch of hair. I have to rebrush him with a slicker brush to get the excess. I think the fulminator is kind of razor cutting his long under coat. It seems like a no win situation. I have to be quick, because by the time I switch brushes, he runs away, so he grooms up all the excess fur... dam.. I think this is what happened. Yet, if I do not brush him, or use just the slicker brush, he has many hairballs... sigh..
Speaking of which.. I smell Vomit in here! I have to go on a search... sigh..

Mia, I think the situation with aides is so disheartening. I went through the same thing with my dad. I did.. Many times, we caught them taking the easy way out... and with my dad, it was just washing him, three times a week.. I did the rest!! Agency workers are very unreliable. It is a shame. It really is. I do not have a solution for you.. sorry.. (((hugs)))

Winchester, so glad Amber Louise is improved!!!
I also lounged today. Why is it I keep falling asleep, around 9:30pm, every night, while watching CNN, Chris Cuomo??? It is a habit.. I need to stop watching the news.. getting weird dreams.. I wake up around midnight, and then go to bed, where the weird dreams begin!! ugh..

I stayed in bed, until almost 9am. Geoffrey was not happy!!!!
He kept meowing, walking over me, to wake me up. He starts at 7;30am.. or when the sun comes up!! weird cat..

Never did get to fulfill my errands, yesterday.
Today:
*regular morning things.
*change bed sheets
* not sure what else..

It is a warm, windy day today. Tomorrow, it will be cooler.

*I took a pork tenderloin out from the freezer. I need to think of a marinade, or just use some EVOO, S, P, and Herbs de Provence on it... or just brush a tiny bit of b-b-q sauce on it.. Since it is warm today, I may make it tomorrow.

It's more that I have intentions rather than actual plans for what to do today. Anyhow . . .

The refrigerator's freezer has been making little ice stalactites on its roof. After turning it off (just the freezer, not the refrigerator) I took everything out and put it in a picnic cooler. Ice started softening right away. Sorted everything out. Think the issue was that as I shoved more things in they were blocking the vents on the back wall. Wiped cavity out, rearranged contents, and put overflow in basement freezer. Hope that takes care of things.

As long as picnic cooler is upstairs I'm defrosting the small dorm size refrigerator. That has an internal freezer - you know, the U-shaped metal thingy that sort of hangs from the refrigerator's roof. That does very seriously ice up. Defrosting involves boiling water, pouring some into an aluminum frying pan placed in the freezer. When the water cools off, remove frying pan and attempt to pour water in the sink and not on the floor. Boil some more water and repeat until the ice has loosened enough to remove in chunks.

Laundry is going around in clothes washer. Intend to do a second load, washing the two sets of new flannel sheets I bought yesterday. I do wish we could buy only what is needed as it is the bottom sheets that have gotten too thin.

I expect the weather to warm up again since our young handyman is coming this afternoon to remove screens and put up storm doors.

artiemom artiemom It probably is hair issues with Geoffrey. I hope he gets it all out and starts to feel better. 9:00 am? Our girls would be screaming bloody murder! Amber usually starts in around 4:30 or so and she's very insistent. We're talking sheer caterwauling here. I can hardly wait until we turn the clocks back and 4:30 becomes 3:30. Yay! (not) I wish cats understood time changes.

After a beautiful day yesterday, today is to be rather cloudy with a few showers. And then tonight and tomorrow, Delta will come through with rain showers. How sad is it that we want hurricanes because it's pretty much the only way we get any rain? Very, very dry around here.
I talked to Mother Dragon Mother Dragon last night for about 90 minutes. She's doing well. They want to try to get their computer hooked into their TV, so she can see better; she's having a difficult time with her eyesight.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and enjoyed my coffee. I need to scoop in a few.
  • I washed, dried, and chopped a bunch of peppers this morning. They're in the freezer for about 30 minutes and then they'll go into Saver bags and back to the freezer.
  • I've created a kitty monster. I started taking Muffin outside; she can only be in my arms. Well, she loves it outside and now, even if I'm going to the basement, she demands to go out. I've already had her out twice this morning and it's....9:00. I wish she'd act that way when we went to the shed.
Socrates is to move in sometime today, when FedEx brings him to the house. Socrates is The Thinking Gargoyle. I ordered him back in the very early summer and he was just shipped out. I'm thinking it will be more like tomorrow. He's going to move into the she shed for the winter; I'm not letting him live outside.
And that will be my Sunday. I don't plan on doing much.

Thanks, That is what I feel also. The furminator does a good job, but it is too much for him. It seems as if it is cutting his fur. I need to very quickly brush it up with a slicker brush; which does not get it all.

He woke me up at 2:45am this morning--more vomit. sigh.. I had just turned over, which caused Geoffrey to jump down, and he began to immediately vomit. Thank Goodness it was not on the bedspread. I got up, cleaned it. Geoffrey was ready to play! OMG... It took me a while to doze off.

I had set the alarm for 6am. but that came too soon. I stayed in bed with Geoffrey. I had planned to run to a different TJ's store--senior hours begin at 8am, instead of 9am. They do sell some liquor. I wanted to pick up a few bottles of wine, for Christmas gifts--people in building, and to just 'have'.

After being woken up so early, I decided to skip that TJ's and aim for the more local one.
Got a ton of stuff. They do not have a liquor license.

U had a phone call, and one message on my machine. Not feeling up to talking to the message person. I am tired; even with a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. I ended up cuddling with Geoffrey for a couple of hours. I finally dozed a bit.

Have to cook the pork tenderloin. and roast squash and potato. I can freeze the leftovers.

Nothing else for the rest of the day... not even vacuuming. Tomorrow is another day.

Glad you are keeping in touch with Mother Dragon Mother Dragon ... ((hugs)) to her. I feel for her... it must be so hard.

We are getting rain sometime tomorrow, into Tuesday--I think it is from Delta. We are in a severe drought, so we need the rain. Funny, I can remember the most recent summer drought, only to go onto record breaking snowfall the following winter... 2020 is so weird, so I expect anything.

nothing more to add.

Winchester Winchester I'm glad to hear Amber Louise is fine, darling girl.

artiemom artiemom Cal is having hairballs. I place a small dollop of A&D Ointment on the tip of her nose and it works wonders.
It has a nice scent. Vaseline is good as well if you can fine the baby or cocoa butter scents. My aide is pregnant, I think
I forgot to mention that. The agency doesn't know yet. This was a planned pregnancy on her part, just didn't tell bf who
thought she was taking the pill. She was moaning on Friday about how tired she was and I told her I didn't want to hear
it. She's pregnant, not sick.

Regular stuff

Fed Connie and white cat..chased racoon off the deck with my broom..he came back!, ha!!

Made a list for K. will wash some throws. Rest as much as I can. It was party/bonfire weekend here
and very loud. The sprog who makes the high pitched screams off and on for hours was outside from
about 3:00pm till about 2:00am. Her parents or mother? were one of the ones having a party and bonfire.
No school today, groan...ha!!

Oh, Mia6 Mia6 I am so sorry the undisciplined 'kids' and mother were out there, until all hours.. You really have a pretty unlivable situation there...

Your aide sounds like a piece of work... unbelievable. Aids are so hard to find.. especially now, during Covid. And most of them are unreliable. sigh...

I can remember when my dominant arm was badly broken, and I needed someone to help me. OMG.. it was a revolving door.. One of them really scared me!! It was Sundays. She gave up her Sunday Church to be with me... all she did was make my late lunch, an omelette, sit at the kitchen table and stare at me... quoting the bible and the scriptures.. She was scary.. I remember she came 3 times.. then I stopped the week-end help.

I give Geoffrey laxatone, at least once, mostly twice a day. I am supposed to up it to 3 times a day, but I have a hard time grabbing him, that often during the day.

Today:
Home;
*regular morning stuff..
*perhaps dust furniture
* try to get a washer, later in the day, for dark clothes. I have a ton to wash. It is a hassle to use the laundry room..
* try to brush Geoffrey..
* leftovers for supper... I did order something, but think I will cancel the order.
Nothing more...

Yesterday was another early morning vomit day. I could not take a nap, over caffeinated.
Rain is coming.. it is very windy and cool, 52 degrees right now.. with a strong wind. Staying in.
