Has anyone had any luck with using a nail grinder to smooth out your cats nails? I just cut my boys nails but I can see they are still pretty sharp. He is an indoor cat.

It takes me about two days to cut one of my cat's claws, I have to be sneaky and quiet. A grinder would have them up on the ceiling! I have never cut claws, but when I hear them clicking on my new hardwood floor, they need to be shorter. They are not used to getting their claws cut and they let me know it. I think they just finally give up. i am not the person to ask, I hope you get someone on here that has used a grinder, I'll be watching for tips!

The reviews on Amazon said it could be used to cats and it did work. From what I have been seeing some cats are scared and just to go slow.

My cats were scared of the noise. I tried turning it on and just putting it on the floor and they tried to kill it.

I just use a regular nail file to smooth off the sharp edges after I clip claws.

GoldyCat GoldyCat that's a fantastic idea! I would have never thought of that! Do you get the nails smooth?

I got a set with clippers and a file. This isn't the clipper I have, but you can kind of see from the picture that the file is a shallow V shape. It's a lot easier to use on claw tips than a regular flat file.

Yes, it does round the sharp edges off very nicely.

It might dull their claws...... when they dig deeply into you as the cats tries to escape.

The sound and vibration will almost certainly terrify the cat.

Get proper pet nail clippers, learn the right techniques, be patient only do a few claws at a time and give a couple of treats after each session.

I dont see any issues with cats having sharp claws. They are meant to be sharp. If inappropriate scratching is an issue, then address that. We have 3 scratching posts for our 2 cats.

We did have a cat whose claws would curl under and you could hear her claws "clicking" as she walked. That was a health issue and we did clip them for her.

We only cut Boone's (with clippers not a grinder) when they cause pain while kneading on bare skin. I will cut Gracie's when I do Boone's because she isn't a kneader.
