The rain began last night. When I woke up it was slow, mild rain. The wind was incredible., The waves, right after high tide, are huge!!!

The rain has pretty much stopped, with the sun trying to break through, at 8:45Am..
Geoffrey was insistant that I get up at 7:00am.. I stayed in bed until 7:30... he would not let up... Wanted to play, and tell me he pooped in his litter box!! what a crazy cat! He always tells me when he uses the box... and wakes me up during the night, when he vomits.... Where did he get that from???

He has turned into a nightly lap cat... sweet boy...

Today:
* regular morning stuff
* pay my rent
* try to track down a package which was delivered on Monday, but I did not receive it....
* Play with and try to brush Geoffrey

Nothing else.. still resting my shoulder and knee... They need another day.. Tomorrow is hair day!

Work
Call Evergreen Disposal to get a new trash can. Ours is almost split in half from them banging it on the truck
Call DirecTV and ask about returning 3 receivers that aren't being used. Boys and I don't watch TV in our rooms.
I finally got around to calling DirecTV. Three receivers deactivated and I am only saving $20 on my bill. :ohwell: There is a fourth we aren't using but it is the main receiver so I can't get rid of it. For some reason, it didn't work where we wanted it so now it is in the rec room where nobody watches TV.

1. Drive into the city to run some errands. Already checked that off my list.
2. Harvest my potatoes.
3. Prepare dinner.

Regulus stuff

Put a load of jammie bottoms in the wash

Will be a catch up day. Kaylee will not be able to work as many hours starting next week as my county has
about 150 people who need help as well and there are just not enough aides, so everyone's hours got cut.
I'll gladly give up some of mine but I don't like the way they did it. I'm going to look for an Independent Aid
who works directly for me and bills Medicaid themselves. They are few and far between because once someone
has one they don't let them go.

artiemom artiemom How are you feeling? Better I hope
Winchester Winchester I'm so happy you and Rick have the she shed.. The park looks amazing! Hope you can get there soon

Mia6 Mia6 I hope you can find someone to help out.
artiemom artiemom How are you feeling?

Have about half a headache this morning. Rick has a dentist appt at 8:00.
I swear it's a game with Dear Richard. I was down to zero plates of tomatoes and peppers yesterday. None anywhere. And then Rick went up to the garden. The plates are back out, full of large tomatoes and grape tomatoes. And a nice plate of peppers.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, removed the tomatoes from the dehydrator, and am sitting back here with my coffee. I'll scoop in a few.
  • I need to spin those dried tomatoes through the coffee grinder.
  • I did make the dough for garlic-parmesan rolls yesterday, so the rolls need to be shaped and baked.
  • Roast and puree a small butternut squash, so that I can make squash crescent rolls tomorrow.
  • Clean the kitchen! Right now, it looks like a hurricane hit it. But I need my coffee before I do anything.
My beloved X-Files are on Hulu. Started watching (again!) last night. Not necessarily a good choice for tv watching out in the shed. Some of those episodes are downright weird. And then I have to walk back to the house. In the dark. And the almost-full moon is flying high and the wind is whipping through the trees. Oy! Rick does turn the outside lights on around the house, thank goodness. But still....

Mia6 Mia6 thanks, Yes, I am feeling a lot better today. Shoulder is still a bit "there"; same with knee ; but it is ok...

*regular morning stuff
* hairdresser
* quick run to an expensive grocery store: Whole Foods, because I need probiotics. I can only pick them up at WF or Amazon. These are the brand which my GI doc prefers.
I am also going to pick up a rotissiere checken. They are so good at WF. and a couple of other things, I cannot pick up anywhere else.
* Perhaps running to Big Lots for some more PT. I have been going through so many. I also have a couple of coupons.
* Supper is supposed to be a chicken cutlet, icky mashed potatoes and broccoli.. Not a fan of this meal. The potatoes are so thin, without flavor. The broccoli is so overcooked, and limp.
Not sure if I will eat it. I may cancel the order.
So that means I need something for supper. I can have the WF chicken, with something else.

I am trying to use up and restock the freezer; and replace the supplies that I use up. Listening to the news, it sounds as if a new wave of Covid is just around the corner, for me.. My city is a hot spot.
It does not need much to put it over the edge...

I do need to replace both the steak and the pork chop, which I used... so that means a trip to the butcher. I individually wrap them. And I need to replace some sourdough bread, which I have eaten.
During quarantine I ate a lot of tuna fish sandwiches.

The young handyman is here today doing this and that for a couple of hours. One of which was going up on the roof and removing the shade cloth covers over the skylights. So as long as the ladder is up I went up on the roof and

1) cleaned 3 pairs of quarter round windows, 6 clerestory windows, and the 2 sets of skylights for a total of 7 skylights. Outsides only of course.
2) Need to mow the lawn. Young man tried but the grass is so tall and so wet that the mower clogs. I'll try later on.
3) Mess around some more with the greenhouse plants. There is a possibility that the roof will be replaced this fall.

Hanging out with the hubby for the day today.
So, we’re going to:
1). Head into the city to buy a new dehumidifier.
2). Find a spot to have lunch.
3). Come home, have dinner and watch American Murder: The Family Next Door on Netflix.

Well, yesterday did not go quite as planned. Typical. Himself had lost a hearing aide - thinks it happened when taking off his face mask, just popped it off and he didn't notice. Costco called and the replacement hearing aide was in. Since he was going there I went with him. They still don't have the Kirkland canned corn. And the four pack of 2-pound thin spaghetti isn't there either. That's a surprise. There was a particular cut of pork I had seen at a previous visit but not yesterday. I did get a nice piece of beef for pot roast and intentional leftovers, a package of rolls, a 3-pound package of red seedless grapes, raisins, and something else that is not coming to mind right now.

So the lawn did not get mowed yesterday and it rained last night / is raining now. Will not attempt to mow today.

There's more to do with greenhouse plants. Our young handyman did take all the gray succulents so I am spared pitching them out. There are numerous pots of oxalis, lachenalia, freesia to repot which I can do in the garage out of the wet weather. I heard from the man who is supposed to replace the greenhouse roof. Polycarbonate twinwall from his usual supplier is on 8 to 10 weeks backorder. If he cannot get it from a source on the West Coast I guess I'm looking at next year for this project. Sigh. I think I need a second mug of coffee.

Well, I did end up in bed yesterday afternoon. That half a headache blew up and that was my only option. I still have it today, but it's not as bad as yesterday. I give up.
I was in bed late this morning. Just didn't feel well. I really don't feel like doing much today....I feel really tired.
Rick went up to the garden and brought down some peppers. After his walk, he'll go back up and check the tomatoes out. Going to have to do tomatoes tomorrow.
  • Had my morning coffee and washed that down with a high-octane Pepsi. I need the caffeine today.
  • My blasted coffee/spice grinder bit the dust when I tried to do tomatoes. New one should be here next Tuesday. I also ordered some new dehydrator screens for my shelves.
  • Do need to vacuum.
I've been working on a birthday box for Rick's mom. Evelyn will be 99 next Tuesday. She's doing fine mentally, but is depressed at the restrictions at the nursing home. I contacted our relatives from everywhere to ask if they'd send me a birthday card for her. I'll decorate the box in birthday paper. Add a pound box of chocolate-covered pretzels, some liquid bath soap, shampoo and conditioner, candies and other chocolates. Baking cookies on Monday and will put some of those in the box. My SIL is making a wet-bottom shoofly pie and will put a huge chunk in the box, too. And I'll put the birthday cards in the box, too. Rick is going up Monday to pick up her Kindle; I'll put new library books on it for her. And then we'll take everything up on Tuesday afternoon and have a window visit with her. It's hard to do something nice for her since we can't actually be with her. Hopefully, this will work out for her.

I heard yesterday that Maryland (where I live) is opening up nursing homes now. I don't have anyone in one but it will be nice for those who do to go and see their loved ones in person again.

There's no way PA can open up....or at least not in our area. Another nursing in a neighboring county just got hit with Covid and it's not pretty. That's the second nursing home in that county. So we understand the restrictions with Rick's mom. And at least we do get to see her, even if it is through a window; it's better than nothing.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my coffee. Will scoop in a bit.
  • Tomatoes and peppers this morning.
  • Two loads of laundry.
  • I want to make apple cider donuts today. I have the cider.
ETA: Well, darn. I forgot that I had to clean the oven from the oil running over when I made those rolls the other day. Oven is self-cleaning for the next 3 hours. And everything else is on hold. Blast.
