Thank you! I will look into that product. And thanks for the link. I was about to buy this spray from walmart, but i dont know if its as good as the comments are claiming. Its called Adams Flea & Tick Home Spray.
I have also used Adams, but it is cumbersome if you are spraying a large area - it is a finger-trigger spray. The Precor 2000 is an aerosol, and while that makes it less cumbersome, it seems to 'fly' in the air (think of the old forms of aerosol hair spray). I will likely get the concentrated version of Precor 2000, mix it in water, and use a pump sprayer. I also noticed the Adams smelled stronger and the scent lingered in the area longer.

I cannot honestly tell you if one is more effective than the other, as I have been on the flea-fight-battle for many months now. It just seems like I might have reduced the fleas more with Precor than I did with Adams. But, then a lot of other factors come into play as well (more frequent vacuuming and cleaning).

I know what you mean. Just when i think they are gone i see one walking around. My nieces dog seems to attract them very easily even when he has flea medicine on.

I will try the product you mentioned, thanks again! :heartshape:

I dont think i will be able to fully get rid of the fleas until my niece buys her dog flea medicine.
That is unfortunately true. As long as there is a source for new fleas to get into the house they will always be present, nothing that can be done about it until the Dog is either rehomed or taken proper care of.

Something else that needs to be hammered into her head is that fleas are a danger to her child as well.

I have told her this, and so has her mother. Hasnt made a difference. They will occasionally buy his flea medicine, but its not consistent enough.

Then to be blunt, she should not have a child. Your sister needs to think about possibly getting CPS involved if your Niece knows this and still does nothing about it.

Yes, your sister needs to be the one to do that. It's her house, and her daughter that is the problem. I mean you could do it but it's not your responsibility and is not something you should have to take on yourself. The Dog is a bit different because he's old and in declining health so his life is directly in danger, the Fleas will eventually kill him.

You're right, i just googled information on fleas. I didnt know it could get to the point that it kills the dog. I will talk to my sister to see what she says. Hopefully she does something.

For now we've been using the adams spray. We have had some luck, but the ticks and fleas are hiding everywhere.

We are considering bombing the garage (i saw adams has a fogger and raid) since theres no one in there. Should i be concerned for the cats? the door of the garage has some tiny openings. The fleas are sneaking into the house. Would duct taping the door block the poison from getting into the house? My cats are on the first floor. The garage only connects to the house by a single door.

if this doesnt work, then i am buying the precor 2000. we have had to bugs come into the house with eggs. 🤮 we are spraying the yard this weekend too, to see if it kills the fleas and ticks out there. These bugs are so stubborn.

Duct tape should block it yes, as long as you're sure you've taped over all the openings.

ok, i will do that! :)

ive been looking around to see if theres anything we can spray that doesnt have anything harmful to pets or children. To supplement the bug spray we are using.

its hard to spray downstairs because of the pets/child. The fleas sneak in through the garage door, wanted to be able to spray something near there everyday. But every time i use bug spray i need to isolate the cats upstairs and they dont handle that well.

One thing you could do is tape a drop cloth around the perimeter of the door leading into the garage, if you run 2 or 3 layers of duct tape along all of the edges then you don't have to worry about hunting for each individual hole or gap. Then you can bomb the garage and be sure no more will get into the house.

There are some plant based nontoxic bug sprays but I'm not sure how effective they are as I've never used them, but I did find this. Introducing The Best Non-Toxic Bug Bombs for Homes 2020 - Green Living Zone

Well, like others have said and you're aware, fumigating will only temporarily alleviate fleas until the dog is on flea prevention medication. I don't think sprays would be effective for fleas (but would be effective for ants and roaches) as the fleas would just jump away from the spayed areas (but I could be wrong). As far as roaches, that would require an exterminator but also regular cleaning/vacuuming of food crumbs.

All that said, you'll have to follow the advice of whoever's doing the work. Do you have a friend that would let your cats stay in a bathroom for a couple of days? If not, you may have to board them somewhere. Or, we did just rent an RV and the cats did fine in it. If you have a driveway, you can just park the RV out there and put the cats inside it. Even a borrowed or rented large van might work (you would need to stay with them, of course, not advocating leaving them alone as they'll be scared) if the weather is alright temperature-wise and the cats have enough space for their basic necessities for a day or two (litter box, food, water, scratch post).

We have someone spray the exterior walls of our house as we've had ant problems in the past, which seems to be good enough for that purpose.

I covered the door like that and it worked great!

Unfortunately after the flea/tick bomb there are still live bugs in there. Thanks for the link. I will check it out. We have bought so much stuff, and still see the bugs.:sigh: I think they might have put it off too long and we now have a bad infestation in there.

Yes, they put him on flea meds. And he is doing much better thankfully. He isnt itching and scratching desperately.

We tried a flea/tick bomb but they are still alive in the garage. We also bought a product that kills bugs on the grass so he wont get them there.

That sucks. If it didn't kill them all then it's likely there are places they are hiding that the fog isn't getting into, I remember you mentioned there were plastic containers that were covered with them so that's probably one of the "safe zones" that they were able to survive in. Unfortunately someone will have to go through the garage and find all those sheltered areas and deal with them, then fog it again. As long as there are still fleas in the garage you should keep the door sealed to keep them from getting into the house.

And yes, it was definitely put off way too long since it got to that point. But it should never have been a problem to begin with, she should have had the Dog on a preventative to keep him from being infested.

theres so much junk in there. i will have to start going through my containers. other peoples stuff is just strewn around in boxes.

the ticks managed to find a way inside the house through the bathroom next to the garage, theres a vent in there.

they finally put flea meds on the dog. And hes sleeping on the porch. i dont think i could board my cats. i once left my cat to check her urine checked. When i went back she had been sedated because she went crazy when i left. She freaks out being in cars.

Shes just a nervous car. I looked into rv rentals and its a bit expensive. Going through money issues. I will have to see if i can stay with someone, but i dont know anyone thats a cat person. lol

I'd say let them do it but that doesn't seem like a good idea, it would probably never get done that way.

.....And that's bad. The bathroom might need to be fogged too, and that vent should be sealed but it should be fine to tape plastic over it like the door to the garage.

They're going to home depot to buy more stuff for the fleas/ ticks.

I want to go through my stuff this weekend to see if the bugs have gotten in. I might go through them a bit during the week, but don't have much time with work.

Have you had a chance to try any calming products, or even cat music?
i tried calming music many times in the car. She just tries to meow louder than the music, even when we would put it up higher. LOL

I bought feliway and it seemed to help during a night there were fireworks. Just havent had to take her in the car, so im not sure if it'll work for that. I'll have to wait and see if it helps. My sister told me depending on the treatment that she'll help me with a hotel. I hope she means it. :sigh: It would be ideal to just go to a nearby hotel, so the cats wont need to go far.

Still not sure what they plan, but they are continuing to do treatments they find at home depot.

The ticks are crawling in through our kitchen door. The dog is outside on the porch on the other side of that door. 🤮

My niece is going to buy some product called wondercide. We've wasted so much money trying to get rid of these bugs and they seem to be everywhere.

edit: from what i have seen its mostly a tick problem. i am now seeing them all over the downstairs. My niece didnt find a bug spray company that she liked. Does anyone know any products that actually work against ticks? i tried the adams spray, and natural care flea and tick spray. They just walk over the walls that were treated like nothing. i tried home defense, but was told that spray isnt good for ticks, and will only kill on contact.

I was going to try the precor 2000, has anyone had success with it? It just seems that everything we do makes no difference. We bombed the garage, and put diameteous earth all over the floor. They're now crawling into the house.

The dog is doing much better, but the bugs have all jumped off him. We even treated the grass.

So many products and they just seem to be everywhere. 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮

edit 3: just read that precor doesnt work on ticks. :sigh:

Call a professional. If the ticks are that resistant to all of the commercially available insecticides that have been tried then chances are none of the others you try will work.
