It sounds like people either love olives or hate them, with no in between. I've heard the same thing about okra, which I've also never tried.

I thought capers were fish, but per Google I see they're not. They're also not that appealing looking either, so I can understand you not rushing to try them. And no worries, as I'm in no hurry to try olives, you won't have to try capers anytime soon. ;)
I am admittedly an olive junkie.I always have them on hand...at least one kind, sometimes 2 or 3,and to me there's nothing better than a sprinkle of capers on a toasted bagel with a schmeer of cream cheese,a bit of smoked salmon and a slice of tomato.But...what I was going to mention is....there is a type of olive called castelvetrano.I discovered them at WalMart and they are,in my opinion,wonderful....less salty and in a lighter brine, they have a buttery texture yet are firm and not mushy and a milder flavor. They do come with the pit inside them and yes,I have a jar in the fridge.

Chicken cacciatore - chicken thighs, thin sliced onion, sliced carrot, sliced sweet pepper, sliced celery, home canned crushed tomatoes, some red vermouth, simmered over low heat for an hour - over broad noodles.

Neapolitan ice cream for dessert.

Lunch: Veggie sandwich on Great Value Honey Wheat toasted, mayo, red french, red jalapeno hot sauce, raw cabbage, raw cauliflower, tomato, onion, celery, sharp cheese
Do you slice the cauliflower flat, or just have a whole floret of it? I'm having a hard time figuring out how cauliflower can be on a sandwich :headscratch:.
She still adores pickles to this day. Not the sweet ones though.
I'm with her! Ew, yuck, sweet pickles are a crime against nature, lol.

I went shopping in The City so I got a Qdoba burrito bowl tonight.

No idea about tonight yet, but last night I had another of the Morningstar Spicy Black Bean burgers, and I think I enjoyed it more this time than the first. Strangely, though, this one seemed spicier. :dunno:

First you gotta find a huge bread, like Great Value brand. Then you toast it. Then you pick 5 toppings plus cheese to go on the sammich because any more than 5 and it will break. I've got this down to a science.
I still think we need to see pictures of these infamous M maggiedemi sammiches. :camera:

giant food used to have two pickle barrels for dill and kosher pickle back in the 70's. they were the best things i ever ate but they had to quit selling them because they were told it was not sanitary.

i love dill and kosher pickles but once in a while i will have a taste for a sweet plckle.

morning star.has the most delicious products.

I think that's the first Morningstar product I've tried, as I usually go with Gardein. But really love the Spicy Black Bean burger, so will take a look at some of their other products, though I think the selection in our stores are pretty sparce.

Yes! Slice it up with a knife so it's flatter to fit on the sammich. I'll try anything on a sammich.

I have a bad camera phobia so it might take me awhile, but I'll try to get into it. :crossfingers:

Creamy Ranch Chicken in the crockpot. Served over rice or egg noodles.
Tonight's dinner will be more interesting than expected. I went to stick everything in the crockpot and saw we didn't have any Cream of Chicken soup. We always have it on hand so I never even check when recipes call for it.

The only creamy soup we had was Broccoli and Cheese soup. I used that to mix my ranch and Italian seasonings into. We'll see how that goes in about 6 hours.

I haven't had corned beef & cabbage since I became vegetarian, so almost 12 years, at least, but that was one of the few types of meat I actually liked. Probably due to the salty taste, and the fact that boiling it made it tend to fall apart, as opposed to being tough and chewy.

Still not sure what I'm having tonight. Possibly something easy like pasta with store bought bottled sauce, or maybe my veggie round pasta sauce, if there's any left in the freezer..

Easy tonight: Smoked turkey sandwich on sourdough bread, lettuce, perhaps tomato, pickles and chips.

Was going to make a huge salad, but got carried away with a ton of chores.. now I am too tired to even put together a salad.

Or a bag of popcorn!!

Think I will have a glass of wine to celebrate my Covid test being negative!

I like how the meat falls apart too.
We don’t have it very often, but the hubby had it almost every Sunday when he was growing up. It is nice to have from time to time.

Breakfast: 2 slices Great Value Honey Wheat toast, Justin's Maple Almond Butter sample packet, half a diced green apple

Lunch: Veggie sammich- Great Value Honey Wheat toasted, mayo, red french, red jalapeno hot sauce, sharp cheese, swiss chard, tomato, almonds, other half of that diced green apple, and onions

Dinner: Practiced with another one of those Knorr Pasta Sides packets. I discovered that you have to leave it right on Medium the whole time, it won't thicken on a lower heat. These are fun to play around with and learn.

Is the meat supposed to fall apart? Mom made corned beef once for who knows what reason. We're not Irish. The meat was tough and super salty and just didn't taste very good :barfgreen:

I made more sauted eggplant with Parmesan cheese to go with the Shake and Bake chicken. I bought Italian eggplant this time. There weren't any neon eggplants and I know Asian eggplant doesn't work well in non-Asian dishes and I wasn't sure about Dominican eggplant. Regular eggplant is just too big.
