Hi everyone,

I have a 7-8 year old Firestick. It is connected to a Samsung 46” smart tv, Circa 2010. One of the early ones. TV works great.

While watching CBS All Access, last night; I had to update the Firestick during a program. I could not get out of the update. I was able to continue Viewing after the update.

When The episode was completed, the entire Firestick froze. Could not get it to unfreeze

I went back to regular cable for the night. This morning, I tried the Firestick again. Screen stated, “no input available “.

I ended up pulling out the Firestick from the tv, and the socket, waiting an hour to reinstall.

It is now working.

I have been noticing a lot is streaming issues on All Access, lagging. I wonder if it is time to replace the Firestick????

And if I do replace it, would it be a good idea to purchase the 4K version, instead of what I have: 2nd generation.

Tv is ok, but works great.

Wondering if the lagging, streaming issues is because of CBS All Access? Or just the age of the Firestick.

I think Winchester Winchester was contemplating doing this, also.

Thanks for any thoughts.

We did upgrade, artiemom artiemom , but just to the better Firestick, not to a 4K one. That did seem to solve our problems with buffering and such. We didn't have to upgrade our old stick or anything, but we had a lot of streaming/buffering issues. With the new stick, I'm now able to stream from Hulu....couldn't do that with the old stick. Hope that helps.

Have you considered a Roku? I've had both and IMO the Roku is better. This is the one I have https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HDBZN7Q/?tag=thecatsite

I have a couple Roku’s and have never had an issue with them. My cable provider, XFinity, charges something like $10 for each cable box you have but if you stream their live TV on a Roku or other device there is no charge.

I have Xfinity also. I don't have a box from them either. No problems at all.

We have 3 rokus. We've had buffering issues in the past; but only when streaming something being broadcast live. That hasn't happened in a while. Our internet is also through Comcast/Xfinity.

If you do not mind, which model Firestick, did you upgrade to?
