My other thought was that if he is getting too much thyroid- how is it affecting his heart rate? Even if he calms down some. Yep calling the vet is best to check in.
Sounds like he's sensitive to medication. So yes I think half of 0.1mg could cause it. Hopefully it's just a period of adjustment to the med since it's helped his skin issues. Maybe there's a slow release thyroid med.
I like the pee pads on the wall!

It's like an over-stimulated bite. I always just thought it was a weird quirk of his.
Ok, that right there explains A LOT. Getting overstimulated by certain things combined with redirected aggression puts his behavior into a new light. It could be that something triggers him and Finn is the only available "outlet", so he goes after Finn. Think really hard about how he acted in the years before Finn, did he ever have any crazy episodes basically like zoomies from hell where he'd run around with wild eyes and jump on things, knock things over, and in general be destructive?

It's possible Finn is the same way, to a degree. If he gets excited about something and doesn't know what to do with that energy he may go after Charlie.

True, but not for hours, that's the part of this latest behavior that got my attention, plus pearl99 pearl99 's comment about the stress on his heart.

That is my thinking, since it is such a change from his recent behavior, and it amped up when starting the thyroid med.

All valid points, and all likely correct. The hours-long behavior wasn't incessant yesterday, it was intermittent, but it was disruptive for hours. If that makes sense. He was like a naughty child with ADHD acting out, trying to get a rise out of everyone around him. Then he'd settle, then he'd start up again.
That's true, but I was thinking if the underlying behavior is there then the medication could be amplifying it.
My gut tells me there's something to this, Talien Talien .

I just spoke with my vet and he said we'll lower the dose.
What makes me think that there's something to Talien's theory is that Charlie's morning aggressive behavior was already there. The meds seem to have exacerbated it. And the fact that he doesn't get all jiggy when I give him his evening dose.
I just gave him the other half of his morning dose, which will now serve as his evening dose. I'm watching him, but so far I haven't seen the weird behavior that I saw yesterday morning or even this morning. So maybe in addition to lowering the dose per vet, I won't give him the first dose with his morning meal, I'll wait and give it with his second meal.

Sweet little interaction between them this afternoon:

Oh my goodness!! :musicnote::gift::musicnote::lovecat3:
I KNOW!! I had hesitated to say it these past few weeks because I didn't want to jinx it, but I believe we have finally broken through! It took a year and a month, but there is finally peace in this house and it looks like it's here to stay! Not only are they tolerating each other with NO tussles, but now and then they even act like they like each other's presence! :hearthrob::clap::redheartpump:

I know it has been a bumpy road. You’ve been amazing and I really feel this will solve a lot with the new meds! Yes!

Banjo and Whistle are so cute!! Love that last pic with Whistle's buddha belly and Banjo's legs thrown over top. SO SWEET!!!
I sure hope things are going to be okay with the new meds, now. I got nervous at the thought of them being hard on the heart, and then tonight he starts coughing, which of course made me nervous. I know CHF can cause coughing, I saw it a lot in my dog. It's not the first time Charlie has done this, though - let's hope it's just allergies. Dust count was higher today on allergy index, and he licked more today. Now the coughing - maybe all correlated.

I always catch the tail end of the coughing or the very last one with the vids. There are usually several coughs before he's done.
And look away from the awfully messy armoire. The cats have discovered they can jump in there and burrow amongst my sweaters. I've given up on trying to straighten it, it's futile.

I was getting at if he is getting a bit too much thyroid med but has calm periods, the getting a bit too much of a dose may elevate his heart rate and still needs to be considered. If he's at a proper dose his heart will be fine. I didn't mean to worry you!
I will stay tuned for updates.

No no, don't apologize. The collective knowledge and experience of all is what makes this site so great, and it's certainly something I want to consider. There has just been that niggling feeling that something is off with Charlie for the last year or two. Maybe it's been his thyroid. I always want to consider and not overlook anything. I'm also just a terrible worrywart.

Interesting to watch Charlie this morning. He still displayed the morning feistiness even though I did not give him his thyroxine. So the behavior is definitely there without the med. Now it's mid-morning and I gave him his dose with his lunch. It definitely makes him act weird and a little wired. (He just did a couple zoomies through the room) I can tell when he starts feeling it because his tail gets a little arch in it right where it comes out of his body. That's excitement, right? So...waiting until later is definitely better - but is it okay that he gets a little wired, or should he have no notable response to the med?

*Edited to add: I just went to find him after those zoomies, and found him laying on my bed, which made me feel better. That burst of energy didn't last long. That's better.
