Hey fellow cat lovers,

I have a new Persian kitten, Kali, who has a very unique coat color. I've worked with many cats and never seen one quite like it. She has orange, cream, gray and darker striping-particularly on her legs.

I was thinking she is a type of dilute tortoiseshell-something called a Torbie? Would that be correct? It's hard to find proper comparison pics, especially with so much variation in the tortiseshell category.

She is an amazing little kitten who I am enjoyong SO much! My three other cats came to me as much older kittens/adults and though I have fostered kittens, she is the first one I am raising for my fur family in many years. I am just loving the experience, especially in today's crazy world.

Appreciate any thoughts on her color :)

Thank you😻

Her darkest hairs look closer to dark gray than black, so I would guess that she is dilute (blue). It's hard to say if she is a tortie or a torbie. Her face looks more like a torbie, but because she has some dark fur on the top of her front paws, I am going to guess that she is a tortie, and just happens to have more cream patching than most torties. What color are her parents?

Thanks for your response! That's what confuses me too is the dark undersides of her paws and the stripes are not consistent.

Attaching pics of her parents if that helps..The queen is the white and brown tabby and the tom is the blackish gray and white.

Hi, and welcome to TCS :hithere::welcomesign:

Kali is just gorgeous :lovecat3: I'd say she's a dilute tortie or a dilute torbie too. Beautiful little girl :redheartpump:

Thank you so much!!! She is such a good girl-she actually surprises me every day as she gets older and grows into her personality. Definitely the purrfect addition to the family ❤❤

Wow! The daddy cat is a real looker, with those gold eyes and that white mustache. A very distinguished gentleman.

I'm not sure where your girl got her red from. The mom cat must be a torbie but I don't see any red on her, must be a small spot somewhere.

Because of her poofy fur I can't really tell if she's torbie or tortie. A torbie would have stripes on the dark patches but with long fur the stripes can be diffused and hard to see.

Agreed, either the mother is a torbie, or the father is not the male cat pictured (the father could be either a red based color, or dominant white masking a red based color).

She's for sure a torbie, so maybe mom was a torbie? She would have to be otherwise that's for sure not the dad. Probably a brown patched torbie, (the markings look black to me but could be the lighting) with longhairs you dont always see the stripes in them. Especially if they are a classic torbie. Patched tabbies can look quite different as kittens. This was my girl when she was younger, she had a lot of grey in her and black and orange lol. Longhair kittens especially when they are young their fur just seems to blend.

Now its more of a browny beige, though its grey when its dark.

My first torbie didnt have have prominent markings on her body besides her face and legs so like your girl.
