Anybody had this problem with Fresh Step litter? (not clumping well on edges and corners)

If my cat pees on the corner, instead of clumping into easily scoopable clumps, it sticks to the litter box into clay like substance and it's very hard to get it off, I have to pick at it multiple times to scrape it off.

Hi! That is my life! Feeby always pees in the corner or on the sides and the result is exactly what you describe. It's been years since I used any type of litter other than Fresh Step but, as I recall, the same thing happened with them as well. I tilt the litter away from the 'stuck clump', take a paper towel to remove it, clean the area with another paper towel sprayed with antibacterial cleaner, dry it with another paper towel, and then re-distribute the litter. It doesn't matter how high or low the litter is, it is still always stuck to the side/corner.

I have read other posts with members whose cats pee on the sides or in the corners - I don't remember anyone saying (yet) that they found a litter that will resolve the issue. Maybe you will hit the jackpot and someone will come along with some recommendations. I will be following!

Fresh step is one of the first litters I tried years ago. Unless its upgraded, I found it tracked bad and did not clump good. Some cats prefer to pee on the side. Not much you can do about it. It could be she needs a longer litter box to move around. It should be 2x the length of your cat

My cat has an extra large box, but she likes to go right against the edge, used to drive me crazy. Someone here, not long ago, recommended spraying a clean box with cooking oil spray before adding litter. I’ve done this since, and it works like a charm. The clumps come right off.

I have heard from others who use clumping litter (I do not. I prefer non-clumping) that Sustainably Yours is great at solving this issue. The clumps are more compact and really sticks together. Plus it's recommended by Jackson Galaxy!

You may want to get a “steel” type scooper. It’s always easiest to pour the clean litter away from the clump, then scoop and wipe the rest away with a damp paper towel.

You could also try distributing more litter on kitty’s fav pee spot.

I have one of those steel type scoopers. Before I had the regular plastic ones. Oldest saw the steel one and thought it was a spatula and asked why I was using it to scoop the litter box.

I also have steel. I bout wipes at Petco that work great

Geoffrey is a corner peer also.. I use Dr Elsey, Precious Pets clumping. I have somewhat the same problem. It sticks to the wall, and if the litter is not deep enough, to the bottom of the box.

I have not found an solution to this problem. I like PP litter because it clumps very hard. I am been wondering about changing it, because it gets caught in-between G's toes, spreading everywhere; even with a litter mat, and a scatter rug in front of the bathroom (where I keep the litter box).
I do not know if there is a better litter... and PP is so heavy to lift... Feels like it weighs a ton.

Once a year, I get a new litter box; because of the sticking. I also feel that after a year, it just needs to be dumped. I use a high sided box, keeping the litter at least 3 inches deep...

I have found that, "The Litter Lifter" scoop, from Amazon to be the best scoop around. The metal ones, do not seem to do the job for me..
