Yay! It's August! The summer starts here.

:bliss:

I've just been watching a family of red deer with a couple of sweet little babies grazing in the woods outside my window. They didn't come out of the woods so I couldn't get a clear picture, but it's nice to see some wildlife again.

What kind of wildlife can you see around your home?

I regularly see deer, crows, squirrels, rabbits, snakes and lizards and all kinds of wild birds. There are raccoons around too. I sometimes see wild boar, tanuki, fox and I've seen an owl once or twice. There are monkey in this part of Japan, but they don't come this far up the mountain. We have bear here too, but I've never seen one.

Rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, toads, mice, coyotes, hawks, and an occasional fox, wild turkey, or pheasant.

There is also some wildlife on the other side of the block that plays music waaaay too loud.

We have deer, foxes, opossum, many birds, turkey vultures, geese, raccoons, fish, toads, snakes, squirrels. Supposedly cougars have been sighted here a few times. A friend thought she saw a coyote recently too.

Aside from birds, we get raccoons, squirrels, hedgehogs, foxes, martens, bats, and garter snakes on our property. We've also occasionally spotted wild boar peeping through the back fence when they've decided to stroll through town. Deer rarely come inside town, but you see them on the outskirts.

We unfortunately live in the city, so the only "wildlife" we see are bluejays, hummingbirds, butterflies, mice, rats, and crows :)

Lots of cranes and ducks visit the stream near my apartment. Otherwise for birds it's mostly pigeons, woodpeckers, magpies, and wrens. Not many land creatures besides mice and rats (lol) but occasionally wild boar will come into the city from the mountains and cause absolute chaos. There are moon bears out in the countryside but not here. No monkeys, but we also have tanuki, though they're pretty hard to spot. A few live in Olympic Park near where I work. Squirrels are also limited to the mountains, which is the weirdest thing to me being from the Midwest in the states...Even in Chicago the squirrels were absolutely everywhere. Oh! There are also still wild cats (not ferals) out in the countryside too.

There are rumors that there are still tigers in the DMZ (which is about 40km north of me) since it is essentially off-limits to people, but no one has ever confirmed it. Kind of an "urban" myth!

Deer, skunks, squirrels, opossums, hawks, raccoons and many birds.
I only live 3 blocks from the town square so I find it odd that they live near me.

We live in a small city, but even so, we see many birds, squirrels, rabbits, opossums, raccoons, skunks, the occasional fox and coyote, and deer.

I live in the suburbs so not a lot of wildlife. Birds and squirrels regularly. An occasional chipmunk. There is a wooded area close to where I work and there are a lot of deer in there so I see them quite a bit there. I am sure there are raccoons around but since I live in a apartment complex now we have dumpsters so I rarely see them. They are probably in and around the dumpsters late at night. I had a small bat decide to roost next to my door a number of years ago. I called the office to have someone take it away, too many diseases. A couple of months ago a bird got caught in my dryer hose. The rental agency called someone to get it out for me and it was the same guy who came and got the bat.

Around *my* home, birds and deer.

My mother lives a bit higher up than me, and her house is more secluded. Along with birds and deer, she gets moles, rabbits, and skunks. Lately, she's seen signs of a bear in the area :eek2:

We always have birds, squirrels and chipmunks. For birds I have Blue Jays, Woodpeckers, Robins, Finch, Chickadees, Grackles, Crows, Ravens and Morning Doves that I see regularly. I'm sure there are others, as I've heard an owl now and then, but those are the ones I know. We also have a partridge that lives in our hedges. We have a lot of geese in our area, and although they don't stop in my neighborhood, as we are not waterfront, we always see them fly over during migration.
We see rabbits regularly. Not as often, we see raccoons, skunks and porcupines. And when there is not so much food in the bush, we get bears. Last winter I had a fox stay in my yard for about 3 days, keeping warm under my trees. And although I haven't physically seen one yet (in MY yard), we do have coyotes and I've heard of others, on rare occasions have seen deer in the neighborhood.
There are also mice, voles and moles around, but I don't really see them unless one got in the house and the cat gets it. I have also seen a bat swoop by when I've been out at night.
Just yesterday I saw a toad hopping around my yard and I have also seen those tiny little tree frogs.
........I think that's it....unless you want me to name off all the different bugs... ;)

We have all kinds of birds, squirrels, rabbits, foxes, occasional badgers, mice (and other small rodents), toads, hedgehogs, muntjac deer, and probably other animals too.

There are also lots of domesticated animals as we back onto farmland, but I'm guessing they don't count

A bear was spotted where I usually take my walk alone. 😮 My neighbor warned me just as I was about to walk there. It's a road that is all dense forest, except for my neighbor's house. The bear came out and crossed the street, right in front of my neighbor's car. I hope he wasn't lying in wait to eat me! I haven't been on that road in 2 weeks, but thinking of going back. I miss my neighbor's puppy! I'm either getting braver or crazier.

Other animals here are deer, coyote, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, foxes, coydogs, possum, skunks, moles, mice, non-poisonous snakes, toads, frogs, bats, turkeys, billions of birds. Seagulls in town.

Feral cats (do they count?); raccoons with spunky teenagers, possums, squirrels, red foxes, coyotes, barred owl, wolves, bats, ground hogs and wild turkey. I'm sure there's more but I don't have wifi extender to move to the bushes. And this is in the suburbs of St Louis MO.

Wild bunnies, coyotes, the usual squirrels and chipmunks etc. Sometimes a frog or groundhog. The river has more: Great Blue Herons, cormorants, turtles, etc.

While walking our dog in the past I've come face to face with foxes, coyotes, skunks, raccoons and opossums. We also have bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, field mice, hawks, ducks, geese and the occasional groundhog.

Not enough, sadly. We have an array of birds that frequent the feeders I have. Some of the notable ones are an Eastern towhee and his mate, a blue grosbeak, a red bellied woodpecker, and a red-headed woodpecker. We have a slew of hummingbirds too.

Other than those, we get squirrels, I found a rat snake in the backyard once, and bunnies. I have seen raccoons, fox, opossums in the neighborhood next to ours. I have seen an alligator and a black bear on the side of the road after being hit, which surprised me.
