I only have 17 days left in the semester and the pressure is starting to build. I don't like exams in general but online exams add an extra layer of anxiety because I'm on my own and it feels very isolating. At least when I'm in a classroom with other people, everyone is nervous together and that is sort of comforting in a way... I hope that makes sense. And I don't talk to anyone in these online classes so where I'd usually study with a friend, I have to study for 6 exams all on my own. And I still have so many assignments due between now and the last day. Trying to take it one step at a time and focus but man, I'm scared.

I'm still going to vote in person. We voted a month ago here in person with no problems. And I"m just a block away. No different to me then going grocery shopping.

On my mind right now is how 2 cats who were feral can be so finicky over what I feed them. How did they survive before I came along?

But now both tried and staggered into the bushes. Oh god, I hope the food wasn't bad. How horrible this is. I hope they don't die because I had no money to buy better food :(

Also wondering why I'm not getting any answers about the cat food situation from vets. I mean DG wouldn't sell if it was killing cats would they? I'm really in a lot of tears over this. They may be dead by the time I get a vet to answer. I guess vets don't care as much as they claim :(

I just requested a form for getting an absentee ballot. I know I'm not going to feel comfortable enough to vote in person in November.
Nice! Requested mine, too, a couple weeks ago. Feel the same not feeling comfortable voting in person, although I hope more people are complying with safety and proper mask wearing by then.

That job interview I had waaaay back in February? I finally heard the result-not selected :sigh:
Bummer :( Was that the one you had a second interview to or something? Any other ones on your radar?

There were a bunch of local jobs I applied to here back in May, but no go with any, and have received a few more no's from ones I applied to in January and February. I've been looking everyday what the new postings are and have applied to a a couple in the past couple of weeks that are out of state. Tough times. So many people are out of work. All we can do is keep applying and doing our best.

Edited to add the panic is passed.

Had to write a eulogy and hold a funeral for one of my Wyze cams and the SD card as both got destroyed by bad weather last month. I spent all day trying to fix that and finally decided it was time to just admit both were toast.

About 3 weeks ago, John was scheduled to work until 4pm. It had been raining, so he took the car instead of his scooter. We were almost out of food, so I'd ordered grocery pickup from Walmart for 5pm. Should be fine, right?
Well, someone called in. John couldn't cover the shift because someone needed to pick up the groceries. The GM lost her mind because no one else would cover the shift and she'd have to do it - at least until John got our groceries. She told him she was going to fire him the next week and started verbally abusing him, calling him worthless and some other not so nice things. He finished out his shift and quit. Can't blame him, honestly.
Tomorrow, he starts his new job. Full time correctional officer at the local jail making $15 an hour. Much more than he was making as an assistant manager at a gas station. So yay! We're actually going to have disposable income. I wonder what that's like?

Yeah, it was. That really got my hopes up, you know? I've applied to plenty of jobs since-either they turn me down in an email or keep me waiting.
Understandable. That second interview got me really excited for you because that is always a great sign. :hugs:

Trying to find something to store 20 lbs of dry food. We have this horrible cockroach infestation in my neighborhood and I need to keep the cat food sealed up tightly. I'm running out of scotch tape sealing the food bags again. Need something unobtrusive and not sticking out taking up a lot of space.

How did our great grandparents do it, before there were such things as plastic containers? I know pet food came about in the 20th century, til then pets ate table scraps, but surely our great grandparents had issues with roaches before us, you know flour and such? Or did they just accept it and move on.
