She's in her early 20s and has pcos. She got off birth control 3 years ago and it's been irregular since then.

I have PCOS too, ever since my period started as a teen, it was never regular. Months to years without a period. They found abnormal cells in my lining last year, that's why im currently on medication. To see if the cells can go back to normal. In the beginning I was told I had a 30% chance of having/ getting cancer. But nothing bad so far.

I just tend to encourage all the women i know to keep up with the gyno. I don't know if BC can affect the cycle for so many years?

And thank you. Even if I never have a child I have many wonderful memories with my nieces and nephews. I won't give up hope tho. :heartshape:
Probably not that many years. TCOYF made it sound like it could take up to a year for your body to regulate again, but if it's been three it's more likely the PCOS than getting off the bc. But I can think of at least one person I know off the top of my head who I believe has it and went on to have two children!

I hope the medication helps the abnormal cells so you don't get cancer!!!

I don't remember how regular my periods were as a teen because I had a terrible time keeping track and it always seemed to surprise me, but I do think it was about once a month. If I have any daughters, I'll encourage them to track early (much easier now than the late 90s with all the apps we have), so if there are problems, we can catch them soonish.

Awww. So pretty! Yes, I can understand and I would think she would miss those magical times. She has nice hair, too, so I think you're right -- she should have a short cut so it can grow out and be maintained. My hair was awful growing up (it still is!) and my mom tried all kinds of things to maintain it, including using the wrong products on it and giving me a home perm that made it look like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket. It has all textures so it is always in conflict and yes, it wants to lock and it does lock. I hate it! Sometimes I feel like cutting it off. But that's not going to happen. It's my own fault for not spending more time at it.
Home is SO important to me, too. Wherever I am, I try to make it beautiful, comfortable, and serene, as much as I can. It's not always possible as I've lived in a lot of rentals and a lot of those were in rough areas. But it's a strong trait in me to try, I think because my mom and her mom were so much that way. Though my heart and soul will always be in the Mojave, this place has a strong draw for me, too, as it belonged to my parents and I will always feel their spirits here, watching over me and protecting me.

Spend quality time with your CATS. Talk with them. Brush them. Play with them using interactive toys (wand and lure toys, like da Bird and Cat Dancer, available at just about all "pet" supply stores online and bricks & mortar, are great for this. Catnip toys and silvervine are great, too.
Green tea capsules or tablets, available at Walgreens and any 'health food' store, are great for boosting metabolism naturally, with no drugs or dangerous effects when taken as suggested. They're affordable and gentle.
What my mom always lived by, and passed on to me, is to "lose yourself in something bigger than yourself" -- find someone or some cause that you care about, and work for that. I advocate for cats and kittens needing loving permanent homes every day online. I also advocate for lots of other things that are important to me. What do you care about most? Who do you care about most in the world? Everyone can get involved in something, small or large.

WOW! So you're already doing a lot of really great things!
A lot of people -- most people, probably -- feel down due to the pandemic and its effects. There are a lot of suggestions people have made in videos on YouTube and TickTock and elsewhere -- I haven't looked at these, as I'm one of these weird people who works at/from home and my life is pretty much the same as it has been since we moved here. And I'm always pretty "up" because I feel that the work I do every day matters a lot. It does matter a lot. And life is good, too -- we are so fortunate compared to so many in the world! So I'm hardly ever down, to be honest, though I do get ragey at injustice, cruelty and stuff like that, which is another reason I do advocacy. My personal feelings are that I do everything I can about who and what I care most about, and that's a good day's work, every day. But I was feeling like I wanted to be a better person, so I got roomies. They love cats and they love me, and vice versa, and we get along really well. They needed a place, and I'm just SO glad all this happened right before COVID-19 hit, because I really think sometimes that I couldn't get through all this without them. She's been my best friend since we moved here, and he's her husband -- and so it's 3 people, 3 cats, and a really good life!
What I've found for myself anyway is that if you can, you have to do what has meaning for YOU.

Going to be trying to convince my niece to go soon to the gyno. I just think its wise to go once a year just to keep an eye on things. I know so many women that put aside going to the gyno out of fear, and thats something we need to learn to deal with for our own benefit.

My next biopsy is coming up 8-11-20 i am hoping i get good news. Last time my doctor said the cells were being "persistent" and not reacting to the medication. Im hoping for good news.

Awww, i think hair is beautiful no matter the texture. But that sounds like it was tough to maintain. Must have been tough getting a perm so young, but i understand wanting your hair to be more manageable. My niece has hair that tangles easily and is very dry. Im lazy, i couldn't imagine dedicating time to my hair. I have wavy hair, i just pass a boar bristle hair brush and it gets rid of my tangles and makes my hair shiny. lol My hair is so well behaved i can technically go days without combing it and it looks nicer than when i comb it too much.

I know what you mean about home. Whenever i go to my childhood home, i can feel my moms presence there. I dearly miss being in my house. I lived in that house from the time i was 5 years hold up until my early 30s. My sisters home feels like im encroaching in someone elses space and its uncomfortable.

Not sure if she feels bad because she notices i am not doing well health wise. But she hasn't been nagging me, or complaining about anything. So its been a relief. Her husband wants to annoy me to help him fix our messed up fridge. Had to tell him i dont want to mess up my back right now. Today he asks me again how we should fix the fridge as if im helping. :mad2: I told him to ask my nieces BF for help. LOL I helped last time but my back has gotten worse, im not risking anything hurting me right now.

By the way, i think i decided what i am going to study. Since i work for Miami Dade College i can take classes for free. I was torn between getting something safe, but i knew i would be miserable stuck in an office for years to come. I considered teaching elementary school, but i dont have the energy for that anymore. For years, i was torn between teaching, or becoming a psychologist.

I know its going to take years, but i think i am going to try to put the effort into becoming a psychologist. I am fascinated by mental health, and always have been. I think its because i have struggled with undiagnosed mental health issues since i was a teen. Even though my posts here are all so long, in real life i don't like talking about myself. I always manage to change conversations so i can hear more about people. I always try to give people advise and try to help them. Random people always feel comfortable talking to me for some reason. I always think about how my words might impact someone. Its been on my mind a lot lately, so hopefully i am making the right choice.

Hi, haven't seen you before. lol Welcome to this crazy thread. :heartshape:

I have been struggling with fatigue for a while now. Something that helps me is that as soon as i wake up, every single morning, i spend 15 minutes doing chores. You would be surprised how much you can do in 15 minutes. In the beginning i dreaded it, but now i feel accomplished the rest of the day.

Dont get me wrong, i also deep clean places and dedicate time to cleaning my bathroom/kitchen. My bedroom i tend to let get messy sometimes. But if you can just put a 15 minute timer and focus, you will feel so much better. You can do things little by little and it adds up fast.

This is coming from a self proclaimed lazy person. :flail:

great advice! :heartshape:
Your advice is great, terestrife terestrife ! I sometimes reflect on what others might see and how they interpret my life, which is basically work from the time my feet hit the ground until I get in bed. But some don't see it that way. The work of taking care of a house, yard, three cats and one human is TREMENDOUS, never mind the online work. And yes, it keeps me occupied in a good way! I am never bored -- I never have time to be! -- and if I am ever idle, my personality type drives me to find something constructive to fill the time with, which I am always able to do very easily with the work I do.
Fixing a refrigerator? NOPE!!! Definitely not a job for someone with a bad back. I have one, too, and no way would I be involved in that.
You are so fortunate to have easily manageable hair! Sometimes I think mine has to be the worst of anyone's. Couldn't it have made up its mind to be just one texture? :gaah:

My primary care physician did my well woman appointments/pap smears, and that always worked well enough to knock them out at the same time as my regular checkups.

I hope your next biopsy goes well.

And way to go with the psychology classes! You'll do great!

I don't want to rain on your parade, but the first thing you should do is check and see if you'll be able to become one. Your own mental issues may be a problem. If it's not then great, but if it is then it'd be better to find out now rather than later after you've already started taking classes.

My cousin has a psychology degree, and works decorating cakes at Walmart. She discovered (too late, obviously) that she dislikes one-on-one private practice, and is afraid of working in a group setting (she tried it for a while and was physically attacked by a group home resident). You'd think the college would have done a better job of preparing them and helping them decide if that's what they really want to do, but I suppose their money is all the college cares about.

I wonder if there's some kind of volunteer work you can do that's similar to what psychologists do so you can give it a try before investing too much time and money in it.

That's why I've struggled with getting a degree. Everyone always has a negative story with each degree. Lol I know someone that did all the requirements to become an elementary school teacher. She wasn't making enough and switched to an office job.

Thank you for the input I'll look into things more. Right now im worried about volunteering but I'll look into things when things stabilize more.

my sister is going to try to cut my nieces hair im praying that will be resolved this weekend. My sil seemed annoyed that my sister was wanting to chop it short.

But my brother agreed with my sister. She's good at convincing him of things.

Its good that you keep busy. I've noticed that when im idle is when my mental state Is worse. So I've been trying to keep more busy around the house.

My sisters husband is such a gossip. He keeps talking to me about my nieces relationships. Even though I told him im not interested im discussing it and it's up to them to live their lives. My sister tells her husband everything.

That's awesome. I didn't know regular doctors do that, they've never mentioned it to me. Lol

GOOD about haircut! If it can't be untangled, then cutting is the only solution. It can't just be left like that.
Gossip is a terrible thing. My spiritual learning talks about never being a gossip or listening to gossip and I follow that. It's an endless downward spiral. And as you say, people need to live their own lives!!! Kids need compassionate, intelligent, responsible care from their caregivers. Adults need to make choices and hopefully learn from them.
Idleness is also a terrible thing! I can't even understand anyone saying they are "bored" when there is so much to do and everyone can and should be doing something to make their own lives and the lives of others better. Sometimes I "wish" I had a little time to myself, but in reality, I don't because staying busy is best for me and there is always something to do in the advocacy movement.
